30 years of community service was honored today with a new bench.
22 News reporter Gabriella Villas-Boas joins us live in the studio
with more about Walter Gould and his work in Springfield.
That's right, the Outer Belt has seen a lot of changes
thanks to the Outer Belt Neighborhood Civic Association.
President of the organization, Walter Gould,
was honored today with his very own bench.
Local officials joined Gould
and his family in the unveiling of the bench
dedicated to his service in the community.
He tells us it's an honor,
but he does all of this for the people in his community.
It is an honor. It's nice to be recognized,
but you don't do it for the recognition.
You do it because you care about the community,
you care about the neighborhood,
and you care about the safety of the neighborhood.
During his time with the Outer Belt Civic Association,
Gould has taken part in a lot of developments in the neighborhood.
This includes new speed board signs,
school zone signs, a flagpole with a new flag,
and now Gould's bench.
This is just a piece of the work Gould
and the Outer Belt Civic Association has done for their community.
And they look forward to more updates coming to the neighborhood,
like a treetop park that residents can stroll through.
