On his way to a Texas rally, the U.S. president
pushed on whether he'll accept the outcome of the midterms.
And you'll respect the results, whatever happens?
I will if they're honest elections, yes.
Fire!
Donald Trump's claims of election fraud
in 2020 led to political violence.
Make no mistake, this election was stolen from you,
from me, and from the country.
And then there was this primetime address this past July.
These disclosures reveal an election system so broken
and so vulnerable that no one can possibly defend it.
A slew of fraud allegations with scant evidence that went nowhere.
Undeterred, Trump on Monday offered $1 million
to election fraud tipsters,
while administration officials repeatedly refused
to rule out sending federal officers to the polls.
The president is mounting
a fear-based campaign designed to intimidate voters.
And yet, Maine's Secretary
of State says early voting is smashing expectations.
Voters seem to be turning out in record numbers and not paying as much
attention to the dangerous rhetoric coming out of the White House.
In Alaska, Trump's Department of Justice filed a lawsuit laying
the groundwork to challenge the results in a pivotal Senate race.
Republican candidate Dan Sullivan vying against
an independent with the same name.
dubbed by some Decoy Dan if it is obvious after
the election that confusion led to an improper
and illegal result that the Alaskan system should
be able to address that we run your election
contrary to what they say in DC states run elections
not the federal government in the
face of potential federal overreach democrat
and republican state officials have banded together
even making this salty ad where federal
is an f-word get the f out of our voter rolls
get the f out of counting our ballots get the f out
of our polling locations just get the f out
and if they don't the states say they're ready
to tackle the federal government in the courts
and katie it certainly seems like some states have already uh
been taking on the DOJ yeah DOJ
tried to get voter rolls from 30 states deep red Utah
is the latest to toss that out the lieutenant
governor there questioning what the government
was going to do with that sensitive data and one
other thing Adrienne I've spoken to a few secretaries of state now
and they've had to train election
staff on how to respond if armed federal officers showed up
at the polls that's something prohibited
by law and something they say not that long ago
was unthinkable extraordinary all right that is
Katie Nicholson in Washington.
