What is going on, everybody?
Today, we are talking about the Seattle Seahawks trading
for left guard Quenton Nelson, all
pro player, absolute superstar,
and we're going to talk about this guy and kind of talk
about what he brings, obviously, to the Seattle Seahawks, man.
This guy is an absolute superstar,
and although he's a little bit older in his NFL career,
the guy still has so much good years left.
He has so much to give the NFL still,
and I think for the Seahawks, this just makes
so much sense.
Of course, you have Gray Zabel playing left guard,
so he'll have to kick over to right guard.
And truth be told, you know,
we kind of expected the Seahawks at some point
to upgrade the right guard position.
At some point, figure out the future.
And they've done that now with Quenton Nelson.
And I'm excited to talk about what this guy brings.
Obviously, the guy is an absolute superstar.
And keep in mind, a lot of the tape we're going
to watch is going to come from this season.
But I will show you guys some snaps from past seasons.
But mostly, it'll be from this season.
So, this is recent stuff, right?
This guy's flipping plays for the offense like today, right?
He's still being able to kind of do some of this stuff.
And you just see some of these blocks up front.
This is a really, really good job by the left guard, left tackle.
This is going to be a straight, simple block on number 97,
who's already aligned to his inside,
but just the strength to be able to stop this guy in his tracks,
and then to hold the block.
Look at the angle, really good leverage.
Ends up just kind of stopping number 97,
and you see Jonathan Taylor runs it right off
of that for a 38-yard touchdown.
There are a ton of really nice plays like this,
so let's just get right into the tape.
Now, of course, one of the things
Quenton Nelson does a really good job at
is putting people into the ground.
He's physical, he's tough, he's strong.
You see plays like this all the time on tape.
Of course, we'll continue to go through some of these clips.
Check this one out.
You're going to get Quentin Nelson to get out in space
and do a really nice job with the block at the second level.
This one's going to pop for almost 40 yards.
He's got a screenplay to the right.
Make sure he's not too far downfield.
And then look at the blocking here on number 50.
He just straight up moves this guy out of the gap.
That's a really good job.
Of course, we know this is kind
of what you're going to get with a guy like Nelson.
But I just love this, right?
This is awareness, quickness, smartness.
And then, of course, the ability to move out in space.
Make sure to give the running back a clear path.
That's a really good job right there by the left guard.
Let's go ahead and get to the next snap.
All right, guys, check this next rep out.
You're going to get an 11-yard run.
Quentin Nelson is going
to do a phenomenal job getting up to the second level.
Again, just being able to move, get out in space, picking guys off,
and then just being aggressive and putting them into the ground.
obviously Nelson's one of the best guards
in the entire NFL, you know one of the things to know
is the Seahawks do have a good offensive line, right? Gray's able
is a really good football player
left tackle, right tackle, two really good football players
but Quentin Nelson's the best player that
the Seahawks have on the offensive line
at this point, right? This is an All-Pro football player
you can put him in any situation, zone power
and he's gonna make the block, right? And one of the
One of the things to know is.
You know, after a couple of years,
you know, maybe you're losing a little bit.
You might not be as motivated to play football.
And the Seahawks are going to get this guy right here, right?
This guy that's super motivated, wants to win a Super Bowl.
And to me, again, the Seahawks' offense line takes
a massive leap forward by bringing in a guy like Nelson.
And at this point, I think there's a real argument to make.
The Seattle Seahawks have the best offensive line in the NFL.
Obviously, I think there's still some debate about who that is.
Some teams will say it's the Broncos.
Some people will say it's the Dallas Cowboys.
I like all those offensive lines.
I think the Seahawks are right in that conversation as well.
And they may have already kind of been in that conversation.
At this point, they're definitely one of the top two
or three teams in terms of best
offensive lines.
Look at this block right here.
And I think this is going to be one
of the huge improvements that a team like the Seahawks
are going to get.
You know, their right guard wasn't terrible,
but it's not Quenton Nelson, right?
This right here flips this entire play.
Just how he's able to pick off this long three technique
and really think about this concept
here.
This guy right here is lined up way out here on Quenton Nelson.
He has the B gap.
He cannot allow any sort of reach block.
Specifically on this play, right?
And exactly what ends up happening that you're not supposed
to allow for this defense tackle is going to be that reach.
That is an elite block.
Now, the play only picks up five yards,
but Nelson does a phenomenal job on this one,
being able to get out in front of the wide three technique
or the long three technique.
So a phenomenal job on that one.
Let's go ahead and get to the next snap.
Now, one of the things that I feel like the Seahawks don't
do as well this season as opposed to last season is run power.
Last season, they had a lot of success running power concepts.
I think this is another thing that Nelson's
going to allow the Seahawks to do.
On this one, just going to run a quick trap play to the inside.
And then Nelson's going to end up pulling,
hitting the three technique on the other side.
But, I mean, this is well executed, right?
And well executed by all the guys up front.
But the hardest block here is going
to be on the three technique here, right?
And then Nelson does a great job getting out of there,
starting the lawnmower as they coach it.
And gets out of there, gets to this defensive tackle.
Just a phenomenal job with that helmet placement.
The leverage, he stays super low on this one.
Again, just watch this in slow motion.
This is absolutely beautiful.
Ball's going to get snapped.
Takes off.
Perfect.
I mean, it does not get better than this right here.
And, of course, Jonathan Taylor has the vision to kick
this right through the gap of where this is designed.
Phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal stuff right here.
And again, this is one of the things I feel like this season,
the Seattle Seahawks are struggling with a little bit.
They're struggling running power-based concepts.
And again, I think Nelson's going
to allow you to do that a little bit better.
And he'll still be an elite football player
when it comes to his own concepts.
I love this transaction for the Seattle Seahawks.
They get a lot better with a guy like Nelson.
They're going to, at this point,
they're already a Super Bowl competitor,
but at this point, they're going
to have one of the best offensive lines,
and the run game is going to get going.
We already know in terms
of generating explosive plays through the air,
they can do that as well.
Clock management, you get your two running backs back
over the next couple of weeks.
This team's going to explode again, man.
I really do think this is a phenomenal signing for this team.
Look at the reach here.
You're going to help the left tackle.
You're going to get up to the linebacker.
I think this play might have came, I believe this was from last season.
Again, just a great job here, right?
Puts the hand on the defensive tackle, passes it,
the tackle overtakes the de-tackle, get
up to the linebacker, and you hook him off, right?
It does not get better than this right here.
Elite, elite blocking right here, right?
Really nice job here by Quentin Nelson.
Let's go ahead and get to the next rep.
All right, you guys, check this next play out.
As I said, you know, power, I think it's one
of those things for the Seahawks where they're
not as good this season in terms of blocking it.
Here's a duo concept with an insert
and I keep an eye on the left guard and center.
Now I want you guys to think about how long they hold
this block for before they ultimately release
this and you pick up about 15 yards on this one.
And we'll slow it down so it's a little bit easier to see.
You know, one of the things, again,
when it comes to power-based concepts is really just reading.
Who you need to block you know in this instance
it's gonna be duo double here up to this linebacker
The guy comes here. It's gonna
be on the left guard. He goes over the top
It's gonna be on the center. You know aside from reading you
also have to be able to move people, right?
They're gonna do a great job with the leverage making contact with this
guy and then keeping your eyes on the linebacker not releasing too
Soon, you know if Nelson lets this go
and the linebacker ends up where he ends up going
That puts the center in a bad position
because now he has to let his guy go to pick up the linebacker.
So they hold on to this block until the linebacker fully commits.
And you see the linebacker is going to eventually commit to the inside.
And Nelson's going to do a great job sticking to his guy.
Center picks up that linebacker.
To me, this is a really, really good rep here.
And I also want to show you guys just a couple more explosive runs
that the Indianapolis Colts had.
This one here is going to be a G lead concept,
which is very similar to pin pull.
You're going to get the left guard to pull out in front,
essentially, on this one.
Just a really, really, really nice shot
being able to get out there, make the block.
And this one's going to pop for an 80-yard touchdown.
Again, just a phenomenal job here by the left guard.
The play does not work without Quentin Nelson's block.
And again, I love the fact that, you know,
he's not trying to just run outside of the tight end.
The tight end's actually going to get pushed back a little bit.
And instead of running it over the top of the tight end,
he ends up just kind of cutting through there.
And again, just a really good job processing, super smart.
And being able to get to that guy makes the block.
The center also does a nice job.
This one pops for an 80-yard touchdown.
Again, this is what the Seattle Seahawks are essentially.
Essentially gaining in a guy like Quentin Nelson.
And you know, a lot of this stuff that I'm showing you guys,
this isn't necessarily neat, right?
Everybody knows how great of a football player Nelson is.
But I almost feel like because the Colts haven't done much,
you know, over the past six, seven years,
I know they're good last season,
but mostly they haven't been as good.
And of course, when you're this dominant for this long,
people tend to forget how great, you know, you are essentially.
And again, this one came from last year,
but last year, this year, really not that big of a difference.
Just look at how he's flipping this play.
You know, this guy has the A-gap.
He's aligned in the A-gap to make sure
the left guard cannot overtake him.
What does the left guard do?
He literally overtakes him, right?
So that just kind of talks about how great a football player is.
And again, I'm very excited for the Seattle Seahawks.
This film breakdown is obviously quick.
We're not really getting into too much
because obviously it's just highlights, right?
A lot of the stuff we're kind of watching is highlights.
But, you know, it's hard to.
Every offensive lineman has negative plays.
I could show you guys negative plays if you guys wanted to see it.
There's really no weakness in Quinton Nelson's tape.
Every offensive lineman is going to have losing snaps.
It's just what it is.
You get into a one-on-one with a good matchup, you're going to lose.
But Quinton Nelson is obviously the guy that's going
to lose the least in the NFL on that guard position.
And again, he's just very, very dominant, very physical.
And I love it, man.
Absolutely love it.
I want to show you guys just a couple more snaps.
Again, keep in mind, these are highlight snaps of Quentin Nelson.
I'm going to show you guys this one here that pops for 30 yards.
Let me just go straight here.
Here he is at the left guard position.
And again, just kind of getting out in front
and kicks off the free safety.
A phenomenal job here.
This one doesn't pop for a touchdown,
but it pops for a really nice amount of yards.
Again, the Seahawks have struggled a little bit this season
with these types of concepts,
so this should allow them to potentially have these types of runs.
Solid rep right there.
This next one's going to pop for 16 yards.
Here he is.
Just overtakes a defender.
Ends up getting right in front of him.
And it's a really, really good job being able to cut him off.
This one hits for 16 yards.
Final rep that I'm going to show you guys
is going to be this third and one run concept.
And this one's also going to end up popping for 16 yards.
Nice solid block, getting out in front and picking off a linebacker.
So again, I'm excited as hell about Quentin Nelson.
I hope you guys enjoy this video.
I'm going to make the assumption he will play
in this next game coming up.
But we'll see if he does.
Either way, thumbs up, subscribe
and I'll see you guys next time with another video.
