Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomes Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
This is my visit, the first visit of the Canadian Prime Minister
in 40 years to the Emirates, to Abu Dhabi.
And since then,
a foreign investment protection agreement has been agreed, a historic commitment
by the UAE for investment in Canada has been made.
A comprehensive economic partnership has been negotiated in 47 days,
a record that we will use to challenge at least the Canadian system.
I know your system is very efficient,
but to challenge the Canadian system for future.
We've deepened our partnership in defence.
We're expanding flights by over 10
to over 30 flights between our two countries,
so the people-to-people ties can deepen.
You have stood by Canadians, protected Canadians,
60,000 Canadians
who live in the UAE during these terrible attacks by Iran
and who stand by the UAE throughout this period
and in all respects for peace in the region.
And I will say, to be clear,
we are cooperating very closely on a series of international
challenges in the region, in Gaza and Palestine,
with respect to the war in Ukraine, the unjustified
war in Ukraine.
And we are partners in peace and development as well.
And we look forward to the UN Water Conference
that you're hosting in December and to continuing
I'm continuing to...
Combine our efforts in development, humanitarian assistance,
throughout the world for maximum impact.
So we have much to discuss, but given the trajectory,
the momentum, much more progress to be made.
Absolutely. Prime Minister, it's a pleasure to meet you in Ottawa.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
He sends his warmest regards.
The UAE and Canada, for more than 50 years, have been a
relationship of trust and mutual respect
and common interests.
Today, Prime Minister, we take it further as strategic partners.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
The President Thank you all.
Thank you very much.
