The presenter introduces four new clubs from the PXG Raptor lineup, replacing the top end of his golf bag. The new equipment focuses on maximizing forgiveness and ball speed without the typical performance compromises. He emphasizes the importance of custom fitting to optimize shaft selection and weight distribution for individual swings.
Let's go, Wendy!
Come on, come on!
Keep working!
Come on!
Keep going, Wendy!
Monday!
Don't do it enough.
Here we go.
So I'm going to be introducing four new clubs
into the top end of my golf bag and I think well
you should probably consider all four as serious possibilities.
You see the four clubs I've
replaced are all at the top end of the bag
and in my opinion the most difficult one to get right
and all these clubs have one thing in common.
I think they might have three things in common
actually. The first one is they've all got
a head cover on them in the bag. The second one is
is that they are
Un-yet-released, they're under embargo,
and I can only show you a sneak peek of each one of these clubs.
And the final thing, but perhaps the most important,
is they're all based on making the game easier.
Forgiveness is the key element in each one of these clubs,
but without forgiving, ball speed, which is hugely important.
That's number one, and that's down the middle.
That was number two.
So yeah, you're right, we'll call this one, well, it's number three.
Wow. Golf shot.
But to be honest with you, the whole story, well,
it's going to start right here at number four.
You see, I have swapped my driver and this driver,
well, it's the epitome of forgiveness
in the sense that it's 10k. Gold ball.
So I hear what you're saying
and 10k well that's nothing new we've seen plenty of those over the
last few years what's different well I'll tell you what's different
this is the first one that's gone
into my bag the reason being every other model I've tried has come
with a compromise so that
has meant I've had to give up on ball speed I've had
to give up on a higher spin number
there are a number of things that have impacted
on me allowing that forgiveness in my bag that
That I've got to forfeit.
And this time around, I don't feel as I've had to do any of that.
I've got a 10K driver, super fast, super forgiving.
Do you want to have a look at it?
So let me know what you think of this.
First of all, from a looks perspective,
this is the new driver from PXG from their Raptor lineup.
Now, I'm not allowed to tell you anything about
this in terms of the technology.
I'm not allowed to tell you anything about what makes it look good.
And I can't believe I've been allowed
to actually show you because it's pre-embargo.
But anyway, we've got the go ahead.
Could be a world exclusive on YouTube.
First of all looks wise best driver PXG have ever made
and I say that because of something
I've consistently said over the last few years
is that I want a matte crown. Now that's personal to
me but I love it and they've done it.
They've also brought the matte sole in and overall a
little bit of red in there as well visually absolutely stunning.
Massive tick in terms
of shelf appeal but we all know that's no good if it doesn't work.
And does it work?
Our ball's still flying, by the way.
We're still on air time.
This thing has been custom fit,
which is what every golfer should do,
and I'm gonna briefly talk about that experience.
It was incredible.
It's dialed in, it's got the right shaft,
and we've got a lot of weight in
that's been moved around to suit my swing.
So that tick, tick, tick,
we're producing numbers that, like I said, mean,
I can have 10k forgiveness,
I've got a spin number that's being controlled,
I've got a ball flight that's in a window that we want
and we're getting ball speed
out there at a max and some incredible results.
So the driver has gone, the Raptor is in
and it's fair to say it's flying. What's next?
Well next up is well what replaces
probably a four iron,
the last iron in my bag and of course it's a hybrid and uh well
Nothing new there you say
because I've long been an advocate of the hybrid and that's why.
It's actually gone too far.
They come out of the rough,
which that was sitting fairly nicely with absolute ease.
And if you look at this new Raptor Hybrid,
you'll see again,
we've got some interesting weights around there.
We've got the matte crown.
We've also got a silver face introduced.
What that silver face does is when we're sat in a dress
in a situation like that,
it presents a heck of a lot of loft.
So from a confidence perspective,
I'm looking down on something and not only am I getting the confidence
from the size of the head that the hybrid gives me and not only
getting ball speeds off it, I'm seeing some real visual loft.
That's a major change in this year's lineup
and that five hybrid has gone straight in my bag.
Right, what have we got next? Well, it
is in fact another club replacement in the sense that it's a forward.
And I'm an advocate of forwards simply because that extra couple
of degrees of loft that you get compared to a 3-wood
gives it so much more versatility, in my opinion.
Once again, this model has just had that little bit of a glow-up.
Um,
Matt Crown I'm going to keep waffling on about.
But it's that silver face that presents a lot of loft.
Frames the ball particularly well.
Let it rip.
And this ball just fires out.
It's a good ball flight,
it's a good alternative from the tee if you're not fancying the driver
and then again I think this is very much more playable
from a tight lie or perhaps from
a lightish rough rather than that three-wood alternative.
But either way it's a four wood in the bag.
Now the next club in my bag well it comes with a head
cover on of course and it is a seven wood.
Now all these products you've guessed have
come from this release of this Raptor range from PXG.
Now it's important to say that these clubs have changed because of that
crossover of forgiveness and ball speeds
because in any other lineup i've always felt that you've
got to have a little bit of a compromise
so i'm gonna have a deeper dive into all these and i'll
show you the kind of numbers that we've
been producing with them last week but let's just
say they they go the right distance but i've
also felt there's so much forgiveness in the club
that they've been, and I've long also been.
an advocate as you know of putting lofted hybrids
and lofted fairways in the bag so
there's no change in the principle
or the thought process i've just happened
to switch up into a new lineup
and it's a seven fairway wood we all know that
it's uh again i've been shouting the praise
of these things for the last couple of years
This thing again just looks
so much better with that matte crown and I know it's only
an aesthetics thing and swapping
and changing clubs for aesthetics well that's a little bit
silly but you couple that with that extra bit
of performance that they've got in this thing and
ball flight is fantastic it hits a number
in terms of the yardage carried and uh
I am a massive fan of PXG Raptor, as you can tell,
and I know you're going to be as well.
If you get these things in your hands,
you ain't going to get them out of them.
Trust me. So we've come back to a little quiet spot
to go through the overall assessment of how
this bag's looking and the bag itself in terms
of its makeup hasn't changed. All the clubs in terms
of 5 hybrid, 7 wood, 4 wood driver is exactly
the same makeup as I've had for two years. We've just
had a little bit of a glow up essentially
and aesthetically like I said big improvements on
on PXG's part.
in my opinion but also there's improvement gains
and particularly in that driver going
into a 10k model without the sacrifices
that i talked about earlier is hugely
important but the message is this no matter what brand you're buying
For God's sake, get custom fit
because if you're going to get everything out of these things that
you should do then it's essential that you get custom fit.
Get your numbers dialed in,
make sure that shaft is working for you
and make sure these clubs work for you. Don't just
go off a video of mine where I say these things are fantastic
and you should have one in the bag.
Make sure you go through that custom fit process.
If you're spending money
then spend it wisely and make sure
you get plenty of bang for your buck.
Anyway, as ever, thank you for watching.
I'm pretty much done.
It's very much autumnal,
bordering on winter.
Things are changing in the UK,
so wish me luck and I'll see you soon.
