which will have Canucks

For that we got up straight into the script and where we did get
an update from Elliot Freeman saying Mike Sullivan said Quinn Hughes
is coming to join Team USA. Now listen we're going to dive
into Quinn Hughes in a second but looking at this from the standpoint
of Team USA this is a huge step for him and this is a huge step
for Canucks fans as we finally see that Quinn Hughes is healthy.
I mean, looking at this in the last five games,
Quinn Hughes has not played since January 31st
against Dallas. We've seen them go in,
lose this game, but seeing Quinn Hughes fully healthy
Grimpin, looking at this,
are you excited as a Canucks fan where it does seem like Quinn is going
to come back and join this team the second
the Four Nations tournament is over? As a Canucks fan,
I'm super fired up. It goes to show, yes, he's healthy.
He's going to be ready to go. We were
hoping that was going to be the case
and that seems like it would be the case and that's what
we're that's what we're reporting on now
and then we have Thatcher Demko as well with all that
concern so this is just one less injury to have
to worry about coming back from the Four Nations
tournament now the flip side of that coin
is I'm very happy for Quinn Hughes I'm happy he's healthy
I'm happy the Canucks are going to get him back don't play
on Thursday please please don't play
because we were I was saying to one of my family members
the other day saying we have Team USA in
the final because we didn't have Cale Makar last game
and now we got him and then the USA
team they didn't they don't have Quinn Hughes
for this tournament so I thought okay we're fine we
got the second best defenseman on our side
for Team Canada the best defenseman in the game is
not going to be playing for Team USA now it seems like
that might not be the case now and Quinn
Hughes being able to join Team USA again it's amazing
for his health and it's great that he
has this opportunity now to play with his countryman
and to play with his brother as well
as a preview before the Olympics however
because they're playing against Canada in the final I am
very conflicted about and i'm sure you have many thoughts
on it as well and i mean the biggest
thing is looking at this we did get more updates Elliott Freeman
was told unless there is another
injury Quinn Hughes cannot play we've seen Charlie McAvoy go down
with the injury we've seen reports
that he had to go to the hospital on this there's
not full details on this right now but looking at
this from Pierre LeBrun according
to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly just like the Harley and
Canada situation Quinn Hughes is not in unless someone
is definitely out due to an illness or
injury can't practice with the team
or play until that happens so the biggest thing is and the
biggest takeaway from that is Quinn Hughes seems 100% healthy we've seen
his agent we've seen Quinn
all speak out on how hard it was not to join
this team his brother is on this team with Jack he
wants to be on this team he wants to play
for his country he was held out with an injury but seeing
the progression where we can see that there
is a fact he is joining the team there is a chance he
can play this is a huge step in the recovery for Quinn Hughes
and it seems like the recovery
is fully done the biggest thing is yes I would love
for Quinn to go out represent his country
and the biggest thing is yes I'm
a Team Canada fan you can see from behind me I have my Team
Canada picture but the biggest thing is I want
to see Quinn stay healthy if he goes into this game
goes down with an injury that's the worst case
but there is a chance he doesn't play but just
looking at Quinn Hughes this season he has
been dominant we've seen him win the Norris last year
putting up 92 points in 82 games this year
in 47 games 59 points 14 goals 45 assists Quinn Hughes
is the best defenseman in the league we've seen it last year
with the Norris he's on pace to probably
win his second Norris
and a back-to-back Norris I mean just looking at Quinn's last 10 games
the goals the assists it seems like every game minus
a few Quinn is going up and putting up
multi-point performances putting up two points against top teams
in the NHL he'd score two goals
against the Washington Capitals Quinn Hughes has
been a phenomenal player over the past few seasons
looking like the franchise player
and I'll say he is the franchise player for this Canucks team
but Griffin looking at this how much of an impact
and what kind of spin out of the whole Team USA
say stuff how much of an impact does this help
with the Canucks we've seen them make moves they
moved on from JT Miller in after Quinn's last game
with the team we've seen this team go on a bit of
a run going 3-0-1 in their last four how much
of a boost does this give the new Canucks team once
he returns oh this is going to be massive
and I'm going to do you one better not saying that he's
just the best defenseman in the league right now he
is a generational talent at defenseman position
we caught we possibly have the next coming
of Bobby Orr in the Vancouver Canucks building so
that's why you have to do everything at all costs to keep him happy
and keep him in the building for
the future now how this affects the Canucks
and how their new look is Quinn Hughes might not be
asked to do as much so the point per game it's
not that that's going to go anywhere necessarily
but he's not going to be asked to do as much
because now Filip Pironk he's back to a point
per game and on his streak we've been able
to beat good teams we only lost one game and it was
in overtime without him
and this is a team that like i said in our last video he this is a team
without him we are terrible without him
but we have been proven that we can win games without
him we can go on little runs without him we can
have other guys step up and be the difference
maker be the leaders that he isn't there
to beat maybe i know a lot of people say what they got
about pd with him having the assistant captain
and him not stepping up into that but there's
other guys like i said Philip Peronik Philip Heidel Drew O'Connor
who just got extended today
keeper sherwood has been an absolute wrecking ball
and then we have some of these new defensemen
where Marcus Pettersson he's going to be paired
with probably Peronik and Hughes at some point
as well too so there's going to be a lot
of options here that vancouver canucks can explore
not only to just make sure they have the depth
and also pieces to go on a run but also the pieces
where you don't have to rely on one or two
or three guys to be the main points of production
to create opportunities now Quinn Hughes
is coming back onto a roster after this four nations
break where there's been a few changes
not too much since he left but in the sense that
jure connor he's getting
into his stride right now we got him extended as well philip hedel as
well Marcus Pettersson these guys are starting
to get clicking where they had only just gotten there
when Quinn Hughes got hurt so now they have
a little bit more time to practice with the team
they have a little bit more time to get assimilated with everybody
and build that chemistry and then
when Quinn Hughes comes back as the leader
of this ship he is going to be in a much smoother
situation than when he left
and the biggest thing is looking at the defensive pairings this is from
Puck Peter what they project the Canucks to have this looks
so much better than what we had this
season Hughes and Hronko we know
is an elite setup we've seen them play together last season
into this year this is one of the best pairings
in the entire NHL Marcus Pedersen has came in
and been the perfect shutdown defenseman to pair
with someone like Tyler Myers on the second
pairing they've looked great together
then again you have Derek Forbert who missed some time this
year due to injury. Carson Soucy's on the back end.
This defensive core looks like a Stanley
Cup winning defensive core, in my opinion.
You have everything from puck movers, in Hughes,
Hronko, Pedersen can do a bunch of it.
You have the defensive shutdown capabilities of the entire
bottom four. Yes, you might want to tweak.
Yes, you might want to bring in an extra defenseman,
which we will touch on now in a second.
But looking at this, this looks so much better than
what we've seen. The team finally looks healthy.
And I mean, looking at their current win streak,
They did lose back-to-back games,
won in overtime to Detroit, and won full game in Dallas.
But looking at the past games
from the Canucks beating the Washington Capitals,
the top team in the NHL, in the East, 2-1, beating St. Louis,
Nashville, Colorado, San Jose, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This team is rolling, and this was without Quinn Hughes
for the Detroit, Colorado, San Jose, Toronto game.
This is going to be a huge step in the right direction.
but looking at this one player that's
a little interesting that i would like to see back what's
your thoughts on with this team fully healthy maybe bringing up DPD
as that sixth defenseman
to switch in with Derek Forbert i love that idea honestly
because when you were saying that
that is a Stanley Cup winning defensive core i i don't know
if we're quite there yet especially
if we're talking about still bringing in another defensive guy
but we're getting there it's not
as swiss cheese as it was earlier this year now we have
our top four locked down those guys are
going to be solid now it's just worrying to make sure
those back two are barely hunkered down and
Carson Soucy he's had an up and down season Derek Forbert he's had
a lot of injuries this season as
well but DPD I would love to see him get back in there
because since Eric Branstrom left I know
people will say that the advanced stats weren't
so great but I really like Eric Branstrom the
short tenure he had in Vancouver
and I think a DPD Elias Pettersson could do this as well where he can
be that puck moving and productive defenseman as well
and still be able to lay hits and be one of
these guys that teams don't know how to game plan
for because there's not enough tape on him there's
not a lot on him where he has a lot of upside potential
and not a lot of evidence as to what
he can do on the ice so we can really catch teams off guard
with that especially with Vancouver
coming out of this four nations break where I know Forbort
is the set defenseman right now on that
pairing but if you put DPD in there coming out
of the break teams might not know how to game plan
necessarily and you can kind of go
and continue this little bit of a run that they're on don't
look now with the Vancouver Canucks because I know
as soon as we start blowing smoke up their butts as
when they disappoint us and go on a losing streak
however with things right now considering we're on
a winning streak when we didn't have Quinn Hughes
and now we can come out of the break against a
team like Utah and Vegas those would be two really big wins
to get coming out of this break what's
your guys thoughts on this what's your thoughts
on Captain Quinn joining the Canucks and USA fans
if you're still here watching this or even stumbled across
this video what's your thoughts on Quinn
Hughes maybe joining Team USA versus Canada Thursday night
in what's going to be one of the most
exciting games we have witnessed
in quite some time i mean three fights in the first nine seconds
we know what it's going to be like
but this is the gold medal game let us know down below what
your thoughts on this while you're down there
leave like subscribe share this with your friends
