Container ship turned into missile battery spotted in China.
China has released pictures of what is believed to be container ship
has been turned into a huge missile battery.
Experts at the Pentagon were trying to figure out if the ship was real
or if it was computer generated.
Although satellite photos have confirmed it is in fact real.
The question is,
why would China show this off to the West and the world?
Some experts at the Pentagon believe it's
a physical mockup with non-working batteries,
but that makes little sense because everything shown here
in the released pictures is something we know China has mastered.
The Chinese container vessel is fitted with containerized VLSs.
You may know them as Club K container missile systems,
but Club Ks come from Russia.
It's also fitted with containerized sensors,
as well as high-end radar, decoy launchers, and a CIWS,
or close-in weapon system, towards the bow.
Early on Christmas Day, images of a Chinese shipping vessel carrying
several containerized vertical launch cell systems appeared online.
The basis of the vessel in question appears
to be a standard civilian container carrier,
further augmented with radars,
vertical launch systems, and other systems.
Naval News was able to independently confirm
the existence of the vessel,
As satellite images show at present in Shanghai currently,
the otherwise unremarkable vessel features several sets
of containerized vertical launch cells, numbering at least 48,
split into three rows of 16 in what appears to be four cells
per container, with each row four containers wide.
The vessel in question is also fitted with a Type 1130
close-in weapon system and at least three decoy launchers visible,
but presumably six, accounting for the possibility
of mountings facing the opposite direction towards the bow.
Sensors have also been fitted within shipping containers,
in addition to carry decoys and weaponry
with both sensors mounted towards the bridge to the stern of the ship.
A Type 344 fire control radar is visible in the foreground
as the array is a standard PLAN sensor built
for guided radar-controlled guns of various calibers up to the 130mm,
which are usually found on the destroyers.
An unknown flat-faced, likely AESA array is also mounted slightly
to the port in one container higher in height relative
to the Type 344 fire control radar, possibly for additional air search
or missile guidance capabilities.
that scene right here.
At present, types of missiles to be carried still remains largely
a mystery. Although the VLS cells housed within
the containers are likely to be able to fire the
standard suite of Chinese anti-ship and land attack missiles,
munitions could potentially
include the already ship-borne CJ-10 land attack cruise missile,
the YJ-18 series of anti-ship
land attack cruise missiles and the YJ-21 anti-ship ballistic missiles.
The container
ship's capability to leverage surface-to-air missiles
is also presently unknown, although
the capability may be present if the GJB-5860-2006
universal launch system and cells are used,
potentially allowing for the use of the HHQ-9 series of SAM missiles.
Several militaries around the world now field
these Club K-type missile systems.
The Club K was specifically developed by Russia.
The U.S. also has similar capabilities like Lockheed
Martin's MK-70 Mod 1 containerized vertical launch system.
The MK-70 utilizes four strike-length vertical
launch cells housed in a large container,
granting the ability to fire munitions such as the RIM-156 SM-3,
the RIM-174 SM-6, and Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles
from land or sea platforms.
Now, let's hope the MK-70 is real,
because it took some doing to get this picture of one.
We all know that money goes missing
and nothing gets done at the U.S. Pentagon.
We do, in fact, have this system,
although it doesn't look like a container much to me.
It won't tell us what type of system this is,
but we do know that this was a test fire
by the USS Silvana LCS-28
and they conducted live fire demonstrations in the Pacific
with these container-style weapons.
Again, not the true Club K of what we see in China at all.
The U.S. Army also claims to have developed
a smaller system featuring the ability to fire
two MR pods out of a standard size container shorter than the MK-70
or the container batteries
like the Club K or the ones seen on this Chinese container ship.
I don't know if that's true or
false. I'll show you a couple more pictures real quick.
I guess the real question is not if these
are real. It's how many are out there and where they're located.
Scary when you see a picture of
a large shipyard and the tens of thousands
of containers one may see at any large shipyard
around the country or around the globe now i believe
that this is the close-in weapon system
here these are the decoy uh fires here i think
there's probably more than this of course this is
the uh well fire radar at least one of them
not the new one probably that is well something that
we don't have yet
so merry christmas i guess that that's what china was telling us right
welcome to 2026 this could be at any shipyard in the u.s
or any shipyard around the world
and you would never know it i've got to jump back
to why why would china show a system like this
off to the world on Christmas Day god bless folks
please don't try to take this container ship
hostage uh i know that you think you're a pirate now Pete
but this is not the ship to jump aboard
please share make sure to give us a thumbs up guys
and always remember
that anything's possible bizarro world god bless you all
