Hi Bold Bakers, today is a truly crazy episode for two reasons.
Number one, we're doing another installment
of our crazy series and we're going to make
crazy edible cookie dough.
Number two, I have Josh and Ange from Baking with Josh and Ange.
Woo!
We're in the kitchen for too long!
Oh my god.
You might recognize these guys,
a lot of you don't know this but I am a serious, we're
just the office file?
Is that a thing?
I don't know.
I don't know but I watch the office like nobody's business,
religiously every night for probably
I think I'd say three hours or so.
What?
Yeah.
Whoa.
That is serious.
Three hours.
You know when you watch the Netflix and it
says continue to watch because it makes you
fall asleep?
Right.
That will happen to me about two or three times and I'm still watching.
So I did a collaboration over on Baking with Josh
and Angie and it was a lot of fun and
we also did some office trivia.
So head over there, check that out,
subscribe to Baking with Josh and Angie because I know
you're going to love it
and check out the sugar cookie pizzas that we made.
So let's make our cookie dough.
So we're gonna start out by making our dough
in a large bowl, Josh if you wouldn't mind
adding in the room temperature butter,
the white sugar, and the brown sugar, and then
mix them really well together.
So what makes this an edible cookie dough
is that there's no eggs in it.
Ah!
That makes sense.
The more you know.
The more you know.
He's a good mixer.
I am, I am.
You know what?
He's not the first time you've done this.
No, no, no.
He's got the gondola.
I can tell.
I got it.
I get tired.
I'm like meh.
So this is looking perfect Josh.
Good job.
So this is where you come in,
into this mix I'm going to get you to add in some flour,
vanilla extract, some salt, and milk,
and then I want you to mix this all together.
So a little bit of a note about the flour you want
to use when you're doing edible cookie
dough.
Pop it into the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit
and cook it for around 5 minutes, and I just
want to have the flour heat treated.
You can also pop it into the microwave for a minute
and that'll do the same job.
Perfect.
Aren't you glad you came here Angela?
Yeah.
So this is looking great!
Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't quite have the upper body strength of the hubby.
You're doing great!
Okay, thanks.
Okay, can I?
Yeah, you can.
Try some.
Josh, get in there and try some.
Oh my gosh.
Yummy.
Mmm!
Oh, that's really good!
We're done!
We're done!
That's it!
Okay, see you later!
Thanks for watching!
I just want a little bit more.
Oh, that's so good!
Do you know why?
Let me tell you my secret.
I always use salted butter because it has that bit of extra flavor.
Always.
In all of my recipes.
And I still add salt into my recipes
because a lot of people don't know, salt is a seasoning
not just for savory but for sweet as well,
so don't be shy with the salt in your baking.
So good.
Yeah and then the vanilla also doesn't hurt.
No, it's really good.
No I know, it's like salt and sweet, salt and sweet.
Yeah.
Nice huh?
Yum.
So now we have our dough, this is our base
dough, and what we're going to do is take
this and make it into some of our favorite cookie dough flavors.
So right now what we're going to do is divide
our cookie dough between three bowls.
So this is the really fun part,
this is where we get to get really creative.
So what I have here is what I call my mix-ins accoutrements,
we're very fancy over here.
So these are all kinds of things that you want just in general.
So we have some M&M's, chocolate chips,
see this guy here, marshmallow fluff.
What?
Get out!
One of my favorite things.
Yum.
Peanut butter, brownies, cookies, lots of different stuff.
Perfect to add into your cookie dough.
Yes!
You know what?
Our kids would love this.
It would be something.
Yeah, absolutely.
Anytime we can let them add anything that looks like this.
and it's a safe way for them to eat cookie dough yeah there you go
and then they get to pick their
own and make their own flavors yeah yeah so fun
so angie yeah you're a big chocolate fan i am
so i thought what we would make for you
is a brownie batter edible cookie dough love it sign
me up what do you like sounds with that done
so super easy josh go ahead and add some cocoa powder
we're going to push it into here okay okay
and then some of those big chunks of brownies i got
She's got this.
I got the brownies.
Alright, here I go.
Do you see these brownies?
They're the ones I really like.
They're really like fudgy.
Oh my gosh, yeah.
I love fudgy ones.
Yes.
And then mix all together.
Yay!
Oh my gosh, this looks so good.
I love brownie batter.
So I've got a question.
Okay?
Yeah.
Considering that both you guys come
from TV, how are you finding YouTube?
Because I know it's number one, I don't know TV,
but it's just, I know it's a whole other
world.
Do you find it very different from TV?
well I have to say I mean there's some things
that are the same but then also
there's a level of the amount
of production that you have to do yourself
and I'm I'm really just very impressed
with anyone that has a YouTube channel
that can make content every week
and and do it well and consistently like I I
really am the process has been humbling yeah I think
the amount of work it takes to produce a show is tough
yeah a lot of respect a lot of respect
a lot of respect for you and like and the
quality of stuff you do too
and also the community you know yeah like you really get direct contact
with your fans yeah that's that was one
of our most important things is uh community it's building
community when we started making youtube videos it
was build out a community yeah and we've been
very fortunate to do that and you're all very lovely people it's
been very moving to me like
how supportive yes the youtube community has
been yeah absolutely yeah yeah no they really really are
harbor for yourself an amazing community
and like talk to them and communicate with them and help
them and they will do the same for you yeah yeah it's
been amazing yeah we've loved every minute
all right i think this is looking pretty good
why don't you give it a little taste there
we're gonna be really good friends, we're gonna
be really good friends, can we be best friends
you'll have to talk to Jenna, but that's delicious
it's okay, we could be best friends with her too
okay, oh that is so good, you know what, wow that's
so flipping good because the um brownie batter
I don't even need to bake this,
I could just eat it just like this, and I could because
it's safe!
You made it safe, and actually you just made
a really really good point, lots of times
people ask, can you bake these doughs,
because there's no egg in it, they don't turn out
like cookies, so this is just for like eating,
putting in ice cream, something like that,
but don't try and bake it, because it won't turn out the same.
So this looks perfect, let's move on to Josh's flavor.
So now Josh for your cookie,
you said you're a fan of peanut butter, a little bit of a
twist on the norm.
Have you ever heard of a fluffernutter?
Yes.
I have not.
I love fluffernutters.
What is a fluffernutter?
Why do you even know?
Okay, you take peanut butter and like marshmallow cream
and you put it together on a sandwich.
So Josh go ahead and add in your peanut butter,
smooth or chunky, whatever it takes your fancy.
And then into this we're going to add in some marshmallow fluff.
Oh yum.
I am so excited to try this one.
Alright.
It won't come off.
So tell me this, there's one thing that I don't
do on Bigger Bolder Baking and it's
cookie decorating.
And like I said earlier it's an art form,
like how did you get into that?
like I saw your cookies and like
the reindeer ones that you made or like the
menorahs like that's so detailed aren't they?
They're so detailed. I started making
cookies and cakes for for the kids.
I should say this his family is very much
the type of folks where they'll look
at something and they'll be like well why
pay someone to do that I bet I can figure it out and so he was like he
would see these cakes and cookies at birthday
parties and be like I bet I could do that
Whereas I would, I would probably be like, I can't do that.
Like, how little?
So, and then you sort of, like, kept learning, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
So, and I looked at, you know, like, sites like yours, you know?
Like, I learned from other people.
You're welcome.
You know, learned how to do this stuff,
and then I just got really into it, you know?
He got really into it.
And I started getting all the gear, and so I have, like,
now I have, like, three drawers of cookie cutters and,
like, all these sweet bottles and stuff.
Wait, wait, our pantry, like, I'm like,
where are we going to put this cereal?
because all the cookie cutters
are taking up like yeah anyway i need i need you need all those
things they're very important our problem
is we're running out of pantry space josh loves buying
baking gear i feel like it's your instead
of like you having a ton of tools out in the garage
all kinds of frosting tips no it's true and i
and i do enjoy it i mean it's very relaxing to me too
just to cookie decorate I just kind of put
my headphones you listen to an audiobook and you
decorate but you must be good at art I hope you are good at art
but you must have previously been
good at art well it's funny
because I I never considered myself like an artist
you know but I'm very good at like replicating yeah no so I can look at
something and kind of like you know you can look
at something exactly yeah and
I'll say oh did you make a photocopy of this yeah
but no I just do it but ask me
to draw like a giraffe or something it's
not gonna look like yeah you know yes
there we go actually this is looking
pretty good oh yeah I'm gonna give it a
I'm going to taste it.
I'm going to taste it.
Yeah, yeah, can I?
Get in here.
That's really good.
So my cookie is a cookie that is kind
of like a combination of lots of cookies.
Have you heard of a monster cookie?
No.
Monster trail mix.
Is that similar?
Maybe that's similar.
Yeah.
So you're talking M&Ms, chocolate chips,
peanut butter, oats, the whole shebang, all
in one.
Yum.
Let's do it.
Josh, I'm going to get you to do it actually.
Oh, okay.
You're over there.
Alright.
And just go for it, man.
I love that you're like, just go for it, man.
Let's do it.
M&M's.
M&M's.
Let's get some chocolate chips.
Yum, yum, yum.
I'll do peanut butter last.
Oats, too?
Get these.
All right.
Oats.
To make it healthy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Raisins?
No, no raisins.
All right.
Just peanut butter.
Just peanut butter.
Yeah.
Okay.
That looks so yummy.
Oh, jeez.
Oh, Lord.
I can't ever get peanut butter today.
Here we go.
Okay.
Good job.
Mix it up.
office questions are there some like
really key moments that I should look
out for that like I'm missing where like you
do you know people are cracking up
that show was such a gift we laughed
every single day every single day there
would be a moment where one of us busted it
or teared up laughing or something
and how often do you get to do that you know
at work every day laugh like laugh
yourself silly except Oscar was the hardest
to make laugh Oscar and Steve
Carell could both like yes
and the one time they broke is when they kissed then
and we all lost it, yeah.
But the one scene where we were all really having
a hard time is when Michael Scott was prison Mike.
No, that's one of my favorite, I watched it last night.
One of my favorite, favorite bits.
We barely, I mean, because he had to turn around
and we all had to be there, and I'm always grumpy, right?
And like, we were all, I was biting the inside of my mouth.
I was like, oh my God, oh my God.
So, but yeah, he has so many amazing bits.
So we're gonna taste my monster cookie.
Awesome. Yay.
Josh, you've mixed it up very well.
Well thank you.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Good job mixing babe.
That's yummy.
Oh, I got something crunchy.
What's crunchy?
Oh, M&M's.
M&M's?
Yeah.
Oats maybe?
Delicious.
Yum.
I'm pretty sure everybody's going to love
the cookie pizzas that we made over on your
channel.
Yeah, I think so.
They're fun and they're pretty easy to do.
Super cute.
And you'll see how good I am at cookie decorating.
So here's what I want you to do.
