Efficiency check turning into a changeout. They had no idea it had almost no freon.

morning guys today we are doing like an efficiency check on this system so i'm going to just to start off with just like a preventive maintenance amp draws and you know the general stuff let's see what kind of motor we got it's 13. let's see what kind of amp draw we're hitting 0.6 and that's when the panel off motor FLA 6.0 we're going by while i'm up here i'm going to this is what i use for algae to put those in the main drain checking cooling the conditions outside aren't ideal but um let's get those booked up 70 suits we got those temperatures add in some really surge i mean that's that's pretty bad 2.3 psi this was supposed to be a routine um efficiency check and preventive maintenance but that's not what it's turning out to be in here i think all this water i'm not seeing anything that's really sticking out that might be leaking so i'm gonna start my search up top did see a little bit of moisture around here that could have been oil i'm gonna bubble search that before i tighten anything up not seeing anything right there continue our search up top i think this is gonna turn into a either an about pole or a change i will say i've had some difficulty with this leak detector lately and i've looked at buying a new one but in two years we're gonna have um a new free arm which is a HFO and i'm not i was looking at the H10 leak detector and it doesn't say that it's HFO capable so i'm not sure i'm gonna buy that one at least not yet let me see something real quick did you know an algae tablet was set off a leak detector sure will all right that one was supposed to be a simple efficiency check like a preventive maintenance but you see the is probably going to turn into a change out the price of that coil is so high that replacing the coil is three-quarters the cost of a new system so I believe we're going to have a change out here in a couple days I'm not going to mention by name but there are two companies that have a really high cost on their parts and i think their whole business model is to just move boxes they don't care how much it costs once it's out of warranty they just want to sell you a new system well i ain't going to buy their product because the cost of ownership on that thing is so high other companies ain't like that they're probably going to get a
