So it's the largest conference in the Midwest
for creators that are coming back to Detroit.
Well, it's coming back to Detroit two weeks from now.
Here to talk about it, CreatorCon founder Robert Courtney.
Robert, it's always good to see you, man.
Absolutely.
How are you doing, man?
I'm doing amazing.
Look, you have done a lot to help out a lot of people
who are getting their dreams or visions out.
Yes.
This is your five years in with CreatorCon.
For people who may not be as familiar
with CreatorCon, just let people know.
Give them a little refresher.
Yeah, so CreatorCon is a marketing and business conference,
and the goal is to give creators a platform while
also introducing small business and other individuals to how creators
can really impact and give them the exposure that they need.
So even though you started this five years ago,
you saw many of the groundwork being laid almost 12 years ago, 2014.
How would you describe the content creator scene in Detroit right now?
I think it is on the rise.
And it was one of the things that we recognized early
on because the algorithm and the reach was down.
And it was like you had to get creative
and come up with new grassroots ways to get your message out there.
And these creators were building these very captive audiences
that would give business owners and even our company
at that time a really good way to get the word out.
So we tried to embrace that, and we tried to create a platform
that would allow them to be introduced to other business owners.
And it has exploded ever since then.
Look, I think a lot of people,
and one of the big tenets is you've got to be authentic.
You've got to be yourself.
But I also think a lot of people see other content creators
and they think, well, this person did it with their phone.
I can do it.
But they don't understand the work that was put into it.
Yeah.
What can you learn in two weeks when you come to CreatorCon?
Well, first of all, we're going to give you every aspect of what being
a creator could look like from a traditional marketing standpoint
with workshops and special guests and activation
so that you can create experiences.
But then also, being a creator has become more about just capturing
your actual day-to-day experience.
And the cool part about
that is now business owners can lean into creators
who have naturally and organically captured similar audiences
that they would potentially want to connect with.
And so I think at CreatorCon,
you can get every aspect of what you need in order to become a creator,
or even if you just want to become a better marketer
or a better person working in maybe a corporate environment.
It's always good to just learn and, you know, take on some new skills.
You mentioned, you know, just day-to-day stuff.
IRL, in-real-life streaming has become insanely popular.
Oh, yes.
Um, how has that scene been adapted for people in Detroit
or Metro Detroit?
Yeah.
I mean, I think that's really what CreatorCon is about.
We're bringing in experts and, um,
talent from around the country to CreatorCon to speak
on things like streaming and, uh,
all the platforms, TikTok Live, live shopping, AI,
like all these different aspects that might
not be readily available to, um, individuals
here but are happening in other parts of the country
and now you get that in one place at
one time at CreatorCon, uh, look, you can buy tickets, Creator
Con website is on the screen, we'll
put it up there, creatorcon.detroit.com, we're gonna have
this information on our website as well
Robert Amen, appreciate you keep giving a voice
to everybody out there man, we appreciate you, I will
yeah man, thank you right back
