Mother speaks on tragic Tacoma parking garage death

And welcome back to Good Day Live. Thank you so much for taking some time to join us. We are getting close to the end of the show. We want to go down to Pierce County. I'm joined by Ebony Tucker, a mom who is dealing with an unimaginable situation and tragedy. Ebony's 16-year-old son was shot and killed several weeks ago in a parking garage in Tacoma. The investigation is still ongoing. I mean, Ebony joining me now with Josiah's sister as well. Ebony, first off, I am so sorry that you and your family are dealing with this situation. Thank you. I really appreciate it. I want to talk to you about your son. Please tell me about this young man that Josiah was. He was vibrant. My son was outgoing. You know, he was a kid. He did kid things. He played the saxophone and, you know, was a part of different groups at high school and just was an all-around kid. He helped people, made sure people were okay and, you know, made sure that they had the things that they needed and was always there. Always calling, texting, whatever you needed, he was there. Yeah, son was a beautiful person. what a beautiful soul and his gold aura when he came around he always smiled and he was never really sad about anything you know he was just a kid and what happened just shouldn't happen Ebony, I would make sure that Josiah's sister has the opportunity to speak um at any point you feel free it's a conversation you can add um if you have something to say please please um feel free to um and even if i'm not asking a question okay thank you i know it's been a few weeks now um since this incident happened tell me how the investigation is going tell me what you guys are hearing um ebony you were so brave several weeks ago i saw you in that courtroom facing the suspects who were accused of this crime tell me why for you you you felt it was as necessary to be there because i can't imagine how difficult that was it was very difficult um you know going in there and stuff i just want to see the faces of the people who are being accused of this crime because they haven't been you know convicted or anything like that but i just want whoever did this to my son to be brought to justice i want them to face the justice because this was senseless You know, I just hear what's being reported and, you know, for you to go into an open area and just shoot at people in an open space is just, that's so cowardly. You shouldn't have done that. If you wanted to be seen, you know, why do it with ski masks? Why do it, period? These kids don't deserve this. No kids should not get gunned down because they just want to be a kid and have fun. you know it just it's not right and i just want justice and going in that courtroom it's helping with my healing process my healing my journey to my healing for my son you mentioned um some of the reporting that's going on the circumstances of this case was there was a large group of young people who were at a parking garage it was it was saturday night into sunday So technically a Sunday morning, but it was a group. It was a meetup. They were all hanging out. And according to investigators, a group of upward of five people came into this parking garage and just started shooting. Now, investigators are saying it was retaliatory because one of the suspects in this case, according to investigators, was shot the night before. And he had almost a cast on during this incident, according to investigators. You have spoken on this. You spoke during the hearing. you said despite the implications of why these suspects came and opened fire on an open parking garage Josiah was a good kid and he was not involved in any of these kind of activities my son was not gang affiliated he did not run with a gang he was not out here in the streets like that and I guess they said it was you know retaliation from 24 hours before that my son was at home in his room playing his video games all night with a couple of his friends online and stuff my son was not even nowhere near where this happened at so i want people to know my son was not out here like that he was not a gang member at all he didn't know anything like that about these streets at all they want to reference that too because you have mentioned headlines so i'm i'm filling in the blanks this is what investigators are saying but you hear what ebony is saying these uh her son and several other people were just in an open parking garage investigators saying that this group of suspects just started opening fire her child her son her 16 year old and hit while according to investigators this group of five just open fire really without any kind of sole purpose but just targeting on this entire group ebony they've made from my understanding at least four arrests i believe they are still looking for at least one other suspect how are you feeling hearing that someone has at least been brought into custody it brings a little relief you know if they are the ones that did this it brings a little relief and with the fifth one out there you know it's kind of scary because you know just like it was my child who was shot dead like what if he does it to somebody else's kid the pain i feel i don't want nobody else to feel this pain because it's not a very good pain to feel you know and it's gonna take time to get over it but you know i want them to be bought in as well i do if they are the ones who did it i want them to be convicted that no mom should deal with um as you are dealing with the logistics of now organizing a funeral for your child i know that you have a GoFundMe can you tell us about how the community can help out and we have we have Josiah's GoFundMe pulled up on the screen right now thank you just many prayers um the support I've already been given and gotten is unbelievable. I'm so glad my son touched so many people's lives and was able to be a part of their lives. My heart goes out to them as well because losing someone at a young age like that and having to live with that memory can be kind of hard and difficult.
