You had a great start.
You're scoring goals you couldn't last year.
The problems are different than they were,
but the main problem is just consistency and winning.
And it looked like last year at the beginning of the year,
the structure was there.
Couldn't find the back of the net.
They're scoring.
Some guys aren't scoring.
Are we built now to score five a night?
Is that how you're going to try to win?
Welcome back to Up in the Blue Seats,
your favorite Rangers podcast from the New York Post.
As always, it's Molly Walker and former Ranger Brian Boyle coming
at you with another week of thoughts on your beloved blue shirts.
And speaking of beloved blue shirts, we lost one last week.
My former Up in the Blue Seats co-host, Ron Duguay.
Passed away on October 22nd after a battle
with colon cancer at the age of 69.
Just such devastating news for all of us here
at the New York Post who worked with him,
for the Rangers organization,
and longtime Rangers fans everywhere who got to experience
just the complete and utter stardom that he brought to Broadway.
Obviously, I grew up on stories about Ron Duguay
from my mom, who we all know.
is his number one fan and that was one of my favorite memories
and episodes of the show
was bringing her on camera to meet him for the first time
and he was just always so kind to her
after that and I always appreciated it
so we just wanted to pass along our condolences to
his friends and family and he will be greatly greatly missed.
Can I add quick? Of course. Yeah
He loved being a Ranger, right?
Ron Duguay loved being a New York Ranger.
And he was just, I got to just,
I got to spend some time with him because he would, he'd
be around when we played.
And then when I was done playing and doing the alumni things,
the guy's a legend and
so magnetic.
When you're in a room with him, I mean, eyes are drawn to him.
It's just, he is such a handsome guy, charismatic,
smiling always, that smile and that warmth
he brought.
Hell of a career, hell of a guy,
but just my first alumni game, we're playing the Islanders,
we're out in Long Island, and I don't really know many guys,
and he just right away came
over and made it so comfortable, was so curious,
and asked so many questions about so many
different things, like a variety of topics.
And just we're aligned on a lot of things in terms of like health
and wellness and what was, you know, it was just a pleasure
to get to know him a little bit in those moments and tried
to get me to more alumni events, wanted to bring me into the fold.
A welcoming guy that was, he was, man,
he was great to me and it was really sad when
he was fighting, the attitude he had when he was fighting.
is to be commended because
I mean, oftentimes, and I'm not going to go too long,
but oftentimes people will say they lost their battle with cancer.
And I don't think that's how, I don't think that's the case with Ron.
I don't think that's the case with a lot of people.
Like, we're all going to die at some point.
How you go remains to be seen.
But, like, he won that battle.
Like, cancer is not a fair fight.
He never at any point wavered when I communicated with him.
It's.
It was brave what he did.
Posting photos like that's brave.
Asking for prayers humbly is brave.
And he fought like he always did.
Tough dude.
So again, like Wally said,
thoughts and prayers to his family and his loved ones
and everyone that cared for him and were inspired by him.
Yes.
Well said, Brian.
Well said.
A tough week for the Rangers, though, to move on here.
They are on a three-game losing streak going into this sort of bye week
that they have.
Five-day break in the game schedule.
Let's go, Joel.
Let's go.
Five-day break in the game schedule.
They don't play again until Sunday when Connor McDavid
and the Oilers come to town.
But to recap, sorry, it's a tough transition, man.
We've had a
run over here.
at the
We're just trying to focus on hockey as much as we can.
don't
But anyway, to recap the week,
obviously Rangers lost to Toronto 5-4.
They lost to Ottawa 7-4.
Lost to the Kings at home to end their undefeated stretch.
6-3,
6-3, outscored 18-11 over that span,
and they fall to 7-6-1 on the season after that 6-2 start.
Brian, how do you recap the Rangers' week in Canada and back at home?
I don't know.
I don't know if you're hoping that there's a letdown from Ottawa
after the Brady game.
Ottawa looks like they're a real team in a really tough Atlantic.
Uh, I, geez, they fought and clawed to get back in that Toronto game.
And then Troy Stetcher of all people just goes bar down
and with 26 seconds
left in the game and you're like,
you just did so much, um, claw your way
back in and that puck gets deflected a little bit.
Stetcher's first goal.
And I think 30 plus games ends up scoring again
the next night, by the way.
And he's actually.
He's got quite a few points.
He's been a nice story in Toronto.
If you're a fan of the Leafs,
which none of the people listening are.
Thank
And then the LA one is tough
because there would be concerns
even if you come back and beat an LA team
that can't score and you're 8-5-1, right?
you,
They'd still be like,
well, you're winning at home.
Okay, that's fine.
But like, what's going on on the road?
Mark.
There'd still be concerns.
But then...
You give up three in the first.
I get it.
Impossible situation for Reimer,
but I don't know what you're expecting with James Reimer.
I don't know what you're expecting.
And he's not like this super durable guy.
And look, he's in his late 30s.
All due respect to him, he's playing in the league.
Yeah, he's back in the league.
He's playing.
He's worked hard.
He played well in Hartford,
but I don't know what you're expecting there.
And he kind of gets hurt, pulls shoot,
and then it's, you know, we were back to where.
You were, and, you know,
Breadman comes in off the post and in,
scores, Laviolette's back, wins the game.
It's kind of like, if you're 8-5-1
and you have this long break and you can reset,
I think it's easier to stomach right now.
Again, you're over NHL 500.
It looks like the Devils are coming.
It looks like Washington's starting to figure it out.
We all know, I think Carolina's the best team in the league.
So I just think, I know it's super early.
It's not yet Halloween,
but I don't know if four teams,
I actually know four teams.
I would be shocked if four teams from the Metro
get in. There might be six teams
in the Atlantic better than three teams in the Metro.
Yeah.
You had a great start. You're scoring
goals you couldn't last year.
The problems are different
than they were, but
the main problem is
just consistency and winning. It looked like
last year at the beginning of the year, the structure
was there. Couldn't find the back of the net.
They're scoring. Some guys aren't
scoring.
Are we built now to score five a night?
Is that how you're going to try to win?
I don't think anyone thinks that's feasible.
There's one team in the league that might be able to do that,
and they don't even want to do it in Edmonton,
who, by the way, are coming Sunday and playing.
So you get this long break.
Yeah, that's good reset work on some things,
but there's an intensity that you take that many days off.
It's rest versus rust, and that will be a significant challenge.
Yeah, and I mean, I guess to start with the James Reimer game,
that's the second big transaction that they made this week.
They signed Luke Lindenning off his PTO to a one-year $850,000 deal,
only two games so far for him.
But then they signed James Reimer to the same deal.
After he played one game for Hartford on a professional tryout,
it was a 35-save shutout in that game,
and then the Rangers signed him to give Dylan Garand
a breather after seven straight starts, and it really did not.
carry over to the NHL level.
And Reimer gave up two goals on the first two shots he saw,
gave up three on eight shots he faced all in all,
and got the hook in the first intermission.
And Dylan Garan has to appear in a ninth consecutive game.
Anyway, I mean, you touched on it,
but I guess just how did you see the situation that the Rangers were in
and their decision to go with Reimer there?
Desperate times, right? Desperate times.
You're on your third goalie, who now you're overworking.
You have to do something.
You need a warm body in there.
Yeah.
It's tricky because none of these are, well, Igor obviously is.
It's season ending, but, you know, Corpus Lo is what it is.
And it's like, all right, there's a finish line there.
At some point, he's got to be able to come back.
Now, is he going to give you some solid starts at this point?
Because he's no spring chicken either.
You have to find a stopgap, just a warm body that can maybe,
in the messaging from coaching staffs,
I can almost guarantee is like, we have to be dialed in,
really structured, make his night as easy as possible.
Even then, it might not be enough. Proves it isn't enough.
Yeah, no. And I think that Sullivan
was very accountable after the game as well.
He flat out said that I put him in a tough spot and that's on me.
But I mean, this is a situation where they clearly don't.
trust Spencer Martin, even
though they trusted him more than Dylan Moran just last year. So
I don't know, but I mean, would they have just been better off?
I mean, granted it's a,
it's a league minimum deal and, you know,
one that they can have in Hartford just to have more
depth, but you know, would they have just
been better off saving their money for potentially
another goalie down the line or, or is the question,
you know, do you think going out
and getting a better, more established energy goalie at all?
is worth their while right now, because I,
I am just, I'm not so sure that it is just because
of two things, primarily number one being,
they haven't looked at Corpus Christi yet. Um, I know I
agree with your assessment,
but if he is following the initial timeline that he was given, he could
be back as soon as the Rangers next road trip beginning
in Seattle next week. So whether he
takes over as number one,
or he splits with Grand or his number two for Grand, whatever it is.
There's still a possibility, I guess, of stabilizing in net,
But the other one is being as I don't even know if this lineup
is worth investing in a better goalie, if it's not going
to matter with the way that the team is playing in front of him.
I mean, are they going to give up whatever they're going to give up
for one season of Jordan Binnington or commit to taking on Anthony
Stolarz at 3.75 for the next four seasons, including this one?
I mean, that might make more sense
if Corpus Christi definitely doesn't work out.
But my point is, I think the Rangers
We'll wait to see what they have
in Corpus Christi before making any definitive decisions
at the goaltending position, I think, unless,
of course, there is a deal before then that
they can't pass up.
But I think it's still too early to be thinking that way.
Okay.
How do you see it?
Yeah, you know, it's tough.
It's like, so now you just added two contracts.
You get 50 contracts.
I don't know where they're at, but they've got to be close to 50
if you just add it to in the season.
Yeah.
And that is almost like cap space in terms
of you want some flexibility there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For Binnington, you're going to have to.
Yeah, exactly.
For Binnington, just leave it at, if you got Jordan Binnington,
and what I think of Jordan Bennington is,
I don't know if it's like
he gets bored with the moment when it's not a big moment.
So the prospect of him coming to MSG
and playing for the Rangers in the last year of a deal,
I think you'd get a really good version of Jordan Bennington.
Could be fun.
Yeah.
Um,
And we've seen what he's capable of.
Plays the puck well.
He can do different things that fit an Igor stopgap for a year.
Give him a chance to go get another ticket somewhere else.
And get his game back.
If you're the St. Louis Blues,
you're dealing from the position of strength there as well.
It's like, all right, well, what are we getting for him?
And you can get something for him.
So I don't know what the ask would be.
I don't know what you'd have to give up.
That's what I'm saying.
And you've just started sort of putting some foundational pieces
in your pipeline in terms of prospects.
Yeah.
Are you going to pull those out for a one-year thing with Bennington?
Exactly.
That's the hard question.
But they're trying to make the playoffs this year.
You get Bennington, you're going to lose assets,
and then you still have a Reimer, and you still have Linden,
and you still have Martin, and you still have Grant,
and you still have Corpus Allo, and you certainly still have Igor.
Yes.
And, yeah, so it's a really, it's just an impossible spot to be in.
It is.
How you navigate through this, if you're Chris Drury,
I'm just interested to see because it's an impossible spot to be in.
And it's also, I feel like one of those types of situations where you
do kind of have to wait and see a little bit,
but you also have to be proactive and you can't wait too long,
you know, so that the move that you want to make
that could potentially help isn't, is no longer an option
or is no longer going to make the difference that you need it to.
But I just.
I mean, we will go into more of the specifics of the losses,
but I just, I don't see.
Goaltending as their biggest issue right now, either.
I would say that of their last six losses, two of them.
Goal tending was a major factor.
I think that Garand definitely didn't have
good rebound control against Toronto.
And that's part of the reason why it turned
into a bit of a track meet there.
And then obviously the Reimer game,
giving up two goals on the first two shots.
It's impossible to come back from that.
It's a really difficult hole to get out of and to snap the team out of.
So.
Those are really the only two, you know,
and when you look at their whole body of work,
there's plenty of other places of blame
to be distributing than just in goal.
So I'm not even so sure that dedicating assets toward bolstering
and goal is even worth it
at this moment in time for this Rangers team.
Yeah, they're at a bit of a crossroads.
There's some, it's odd because there's some good,
some bad, you know, Laff's been putting
up points, even Adam Fox been putting up points.
I mean, I don't know, but I can't imagine Fox is thrilled
with the entirety of his game right now.
Um,
But that's also, I'm looking at that, you know, with respect to him,
I've seen him take some chances and be out of position,
but you've got to look at time and score in some of those
and be like, well, maybe he's trying to get something going
because they've given up four and they're chasing two
and it's four to two or whatever it is, whatever it may be.
It seems like maybe there's more, and if it's coming from him,
it's definitely who's the most cerebral guy and knows what he is
and is always in really good spots.
He defended his year last year, I thought, was a great answer
to some of the questions around him,
whether he made the Olympic team or not.
He's fascinated me his whole career.
I've always loved his game, but maybe he's trying to do more,
and that turns into him doing too much.
Thank you so much.
I like JT's game right now.
He's being physical.
He's hard.
He's going north.
And he likes it, too.
He told me he likes the way he's playing, too.
I can't find any faults with it.
Yeah.
It's just the lack of production,
which he said he's trying not to focus on because he feels like he's...
And he's scoring ugly goals.
They're all going off his foot, which is like,
that's what you have to do when you go cold a little bit.
And they're tinkering.
You see them tinkering.
They're moving things around.
They'll probably...
Shift some things in the back end.
Hopefully, this break gets Thursday to 100% or close to it.
No one's at 100% already, which is the sick thing.
Just remembering, like, game three, and you're like,
oh, now I have a hip thing or whatever.
It's like, only six months, and I'll feel 80% again.
Yeah, I'll feel back to myself.
Yeah, so that's across the league, so it's no,
you can't make any excuses for it.
Foundational.
Five-man mentality where they were all over.
Like, look at the Lightning games.
They were in five-man units up and down the ice,
never chasing the game.
And the hardest thing to do is, even if you're down,
like, you can't just, like, if we score first,
we lock it down and do this.
You have to have that same,
because that created offense for them.
And I know Mike Sullivan has preached that.
If we're in the right structure, we will create offense,
even from our own end.
Continuity helps that.
I get it if it's not working, you have to make some changes,
but they have to find some continuity.
We're going to have to find some sort of...
structure where guys know where they're going to be at all times.
Yeah, I mean, they've now lost five of the last six.
I feel like they just have veered so far
from what was working for them earlier in the season.
I feel like they've lost some of their clean breakouts
in transition game from zone to zone.
That was working like a well-oiled machine
for the first five games.
It just feels like a trudge again,
moving the puck up the ice.
And I feel like the strong starts have
completely dissipated after they...
Don't underestimate the power of Igor and his puck mobility.
Of course.
Yeah.
I know.
I don't disagree that that has factored into it,
but even when it's not coming from below the goal line,
it just feels like it's been so much more
of a trudge from zone to zone.
And the starts, I mean, they were running teams over after puck drop.
Running them over.
And that's just,
that to me is just the craziness
and probably the most frustrating thing about this Rangers team
is to see the capability and to see it in full force
and then to just watch it slowly flip game by game.
We know what it looks like when it's working.
They got no swag right now.
That's so frustrating.
It's really frustrating, Ryan.
I mean, because what do you attribute that complete slippage to?
You can't say that it's all because Igor is in net.
It just doesn't make sense.
You can't say that that is the number one reason.
Well,
Well, I mean, there's a lot of different,
and I don't think it's the same thing every night.
Like you mentioned two of them on goaltending out of the last six.
Well, that's still two games in six that you're like,
all right, well, hey, listen, if it
was two games and they played great,
and then it was like they played great in four, you
can play great hockey games and just not get the result too.
So maybe our concern is the other three games
that didn't go great were not great by anyone's
estimation.
So it's not always that you lose, it's how.
If you could take two of them and throw them out.
Because of goaltending, I think you can do that
for the players. It's four points
if they have those two.
It looked like they had jumped, they had
pushed back. I'll take it
back to the
Columbus game where they lost 1-0
in overtime.
And just.
It was an ugly,
not a clean game for either team.
It was physical, but I
don't think they were the better team.
They did have a few chances, but I don't think
they were the better team. And I was like,
you should be
I'm furious that you weren't a better team.
This Columbus team is hanging on by a thread.
Correct.
And I like that Columbus team.
They're a hard-nosed team.
If they played well to start the year, I would not have been surprised.
But I just think their bar has to be higher.
They need to expect more out of themselves.
When it's not going right, you can nip it in the bud quicker
because you're like, we are the New York Rangers,
and these are the players we have.
JT Miller, we have Mika Zibanejad, we have Adam Fox.
You know, you have Dorofeev, you have Lafreniere's playing great.
There's guys there that are really good players in this league,
and they should know that.
Get your swag back a little bit.
Yeah, I also feel like part of it is also the fact that Mike Sullivan
and the coaching staff are clearly still figuring out.
Their best combinations and alignments for everything.
I mean, from the forward lines to deep pairs, power play units.
I mean, Sullivan has made some very specific changes,
but I feel like you can tell he's
not really convinced in a lot of areas.
And we've seen the movement that enforces that,
I think, and things like switching Bjorkstrand
from the fourth line to the second line,
Dorofeev getting bumped to the third line.
The power play positions have been on a rotation, basically.
He's made in-game changes on D with Durzi and Schmitz
and Pettersson and Schneider.
How do you see all this movement, Brian?
And is there anything you feel strongly about
that you think it should or shouldn't be?
The next one you could do is, I think,
flip-flop Gavrikov and Pettersson,
which did early in the season, game two or three, maybe.
I don't know.
No, it was...
And you have guys, you have more depth at the position this year,
I think so you can...
Guys can play with different guys, and as that goes,
they'll be comfortable doing that in-game, you know,
for a period, for a stretch of three or four shifts,
if there's a power play, if there's a penalty, you know.
Eventually, the more games, the more that works itself out.
It's worked in Bjorkstrand's favor.
You see, obviously, he did not want to be on the fourth line.
He's been noticeable in his effort level.
Very.
He's probably like, again, I was on the fourth line in Tampa,
but that was Tampa.
I'm not a fourth liner here, and he's shown it.
Right?
I think if Noah Lava scores one goal,
maybe he relaxes a little bit.
Yeah.
But again, he's still a young guy in the league.
He was great, a bright spot last year
because the expectations, right?
But now it's like you have these abilities
and a year under your belt, he can improve.
Last year, it was like throw stuff at a wall
and just see if anything can stick.
This year, there's more depth,
so I think it can be fixed,
which is why it's like when it's not,
why are we figuring this out still?
But they're still above 500.
It's just not going great right now.
No.
But that's, I think, why.
It's also just, it's the feeling of it.
It's the feeling of watching these last few games,
of feeling like it's slipping,
and it does have this potential to continue sliding, I think.
Well, those wounds haven't healed all the way, Molly.
Last couple of seasons.
No, no, they are fresh.
They are raw.
They are fresh and raw, Brian.
I'm trying.
But things like I don't I don't know how I feel about putting Dorofeev
on the third line so soon, mostly because I just you want
to keep him with guys who can compliment his game.
I don't know if Cooley and Lava are facilitating or playing the way
that they need to to help Dorofeev out of this little whatever he's
going through, because you can't even really call it a slump because.
The chances are coming.
He's generating.
He's there.
He's probably leading the whole league
in post-crossbars hit at this point.
It's definitely possible.
First of all.
He's got to go out before practice and hit that.
Yeah, my question is, I mean, three goals in 14 for him,
but at what point do you start to consider this to be a major concern?
Because if it keeps trending the way that it is,
it obviously does eventually. And I think you mentioned
minus 13 already before we even started recording.
On a plus team.
So, I mean, I don't, I don't really buy
into plus minus all that much anyway, but that's
a number and that's a big number.
It kind of jumps out at, yeah.
So look, he needs to put the puck in the net.
That's why they got him.
And that is a high pressure situation for an athlete.
Why they gave you $11 million.
That's what the money is for.
Yeah.
That's what the money's for.
You know, Jon Hamm.
Love it.
It's it.
It's that's it, man.
You gotta, especially in the big city, man.
It's gotta go in the net.
And I saw one-armed Mario Gabrick score 20 in 60 games
and just get roasted a season after he got 40,
and then got 40 again.
And, like, that guy was a gamer.
And I think Dorofeev could be a gamer, too.
I just, it's got to go in the net for him.
And relax, don't press.
The guy can go and score seven goals in eight games.
He can do that.
That's why I've seen him do it.
It's, in the playoffs, it's...
Yeah, he's just got to get hot.
Yeah, and I agree with you.
I like Laba. I like Cooley. I don't know
if their strongest points of their game
are cerebral or distributors.
I don't think they're...
I don't see the line.
I just don't
see it there. So it just kind of felt
again, like throwing things at the wall and
seeing what sticks type of situation, which is
not a situation you want to get into
when you have much higher hopes
for this group.
And we were also talking about
just the fact that I don't think any of
Dorfeev's goals
Have come at any substantial time.
Yeah.
Like have actually,
they've come when the game has been out of hand already.
So it's,
you can't even put substance in them because of that.
So it's,
it's a tough situation.
When your goal scorer.
You have to.
Yes,
you have to.
The six one goal against Jersey.
Oh my God.
So that could be big.
That could be big.
Right.
People are looking at me like, you're crazy.
I'm like, you don't know.
I've been around some of these guys.
Gabby had 38 goals one year.
He comes to practice with a new stick,
new company, new curve, new blade, everything new.
We're in line like, what is he doing?
There's like 12 games left.
Yeah.
He's like, I don't like that stick.
I'm like, the one you've used your whole career?
Score 40 goals every year?
What are you doing?
It was like six games without a goal.
Like, get.
Get out of here.
Someone hide him.
Go steal his sticks.
Get rid of him.
Goal scorers, man.
You need them.
You love them.
No.
They're finicky, so they could be big.
Yeah, it's definitely something to monitor,
but I definitely think even half of those posts hit go in.
It's a different situation for the Rangers, perhaps.
Definitely a different situation for Pavel
and his start to the Rangers.
So something to monitor going forward.
The other thing is, Dursey is clearly battling something right now.
He's taken a few maintenance days, and I've seen a lot
of commentary debating whether a healthy Scott Morrow would
or should be a better option than a clearly hampered...
Sean Dursey, as a player, what's your stance on that, Brian?
Well, we don't know what's going on in that room.
For Mauro, poor guy probably wants to play.
And I don't know if Mike Sullivan spoke on it.
Yeah.
We don't know what's going on in that room.
We don't know how banged up anyone is.
And I just, if I was good enough to play, I was playing.
It's like a yes or no.
It's not don't give me a percentage.
It's a yes or no.
And usually it was a yes.
There were a lot of days where it was a yes.
And then you're like.
You're in pregame warmup and you're on the ice and on ice warmup.
And you're just like, can we please get going here?
You're like asking your knee or your hand
or your shoulder or something like
your back.
I'm like, just get loose,
just try to get through this game without being a
complete liability.
But that's what we do.
You see Brian Boyle whispering to his shoulder on the warmup.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're just, or like you get
to a point where you're like, all right, it's not
going to get better.
What can we, and then you're just thinking, how can I.
Put myself to, you know, and there's so many guys that do that.
That's not something just I did.
I mean, so many guys.
You have to, and then that game ends.
It's like, all right, got another one tomorrow.
And you're just like, let's get this thing going here.
No, I mean, clearly, I mean, Dursey,
you could hear it, see it in any interview.
He is ready to lay his life on the line for the New York Rangers.
So I think it's not surprising at all that he's been trying to.
To push through this, but yeah, I mean, hopefully with a five-day
break off the ice for a couple days here, that helps Sean Dursey.
But yeah, I mean, Sullivan has acknowledged it himself just how strong
that pair was defensively through the first few games.
And for whatever reason,
it's just been a struggle the last five or six years.
So the duality of this team, man, it is.
Puzzling, to say the least.
Just puzzling.
The rest will help them.
Maybe not right away, but they'll weather this.
Let's vibe it out, Molly.
We've got to vibe it out.
Brian, the vibes are sinking.
We talked so much about the vibes to start.
You've got to have good vibes.
They're hanging on for dear life right now, I think.
They're hanging on.
But I...
I don't think it's, you know, Boomer Esiason.
It's over.
It's over.
The season's over.
That's it.
Throw in the towel.
No.
Did he do that again?
No.
He did.
He did.
Oh, boomer.
We know we all, we all know and love Boomer Esiason.
There's 900 games left.
Major, major Ranger fan.
I get it.
Like I get, I get how you can feel that way.
It's hard not to when you look at...
The last couple seasons of this Rangers team.
It's hard not to, but I'm not there yet.
I get why Boomer is, but I personally am not there yet.
I think that this little reset here could be good for them.
It has to be.
It just has to be.
Because I also wonder, you know,
if things keep trending in this direction,
what do they do with the $10 million
in cap relief they're going to get from Igor?
Will it even matter?
Who knows?
There was, I know they played 14 games and not everyone has,
but the funniest thing is if you go on NHL.com,
they're in the playoffs right now.
Oh, yeah.
No, they had a really great start to the season
and it is definitely,
you know,
alleviated some of the veering straight down
that they have done in the last
week or so, so that they have kind of evened itself out.
Yeah, they got to get back to doing what they
were doing earlier in the season.
I mean, start games on time, again, for crying out loud.
Bare minimum.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's, you can't get running around.
Just have that structure.
The chasing.
They've been chasing the last.
Yeah, it's usually guys trying to do too much.
I've seen Laff in the D-Zone run around
a little bit, cause some confusion.
Have some patience.
That's what I'm talking about, the vibes, the swagger.
They need, like, all right.
Less is more sometimes.
Don't everybody go off and veer off on your own page.
You need to still have that cohesiveness.
It can be boring and ugly.
Even that Columbus game that I wasn't thrilled about.
They got a point.
They got to figure out how to win on the road.
They'll be fine at home.
They'll figure it out back.
You win a couple of road games and you're, you know.
They can't buy a win at home and now they can't buy one on the road.
Yeah.
It's going to come together nicely at the right time.
You got to believe it.
You got to believe.
All right.
Four games in the next week.
Edmonton at home on Sunday,
Blues on Tuesday,
Philadelphia on Thursday,
and on the road to Seattle
before the Western Canada swing,
which is always...
It's funny.
I forget who I was talking to,
but that Western Canada swing, man,
it's a lot different than it was just a few years ago.
Now the Rangers should be coming out of that trip
with at least two wins.
Um, well.
Yeah, Anaheim can't beat Vancouver,
which is the funniest thing ever.
They lost to them again.
They've won twice in 16 tries.
Calgary and this Cooley kid,
and that Devin Cooley, who's the funniest.
Try to get an interview with him.
Um,
They just win all the games now.
Edmonton is scary.
I don't get why they go to Seattle
and then to Edmonton and Calgary and back to Van.
They did that last year.
It's because the schedule creators hate us.
That's why.
They did that last year.
It's crazy.
I'm going out.
I'll be at the game on the 5th and then head out for three of them.
I'm not going to head back to Van.
I'm heading to a hockey tournament in West
Where am I going?
Florida.
Where am I going?
Florida.
Nice.
So that's great.
But I'll be there in person this road trip.
All righty, we'll get to watch together.
Thank you for that.
Well, make sure you pack them in your suitcase, Brian, right?
I always, listen, you've seen me on the road.
I'm a good vibe guy.
Brian is always good vibes.
All right, I think that's a good place for us to stop.
Give us a like and a thumbs up.
Comment down below.
Where's your concern-o-meter at with the New York Rangers?
Where do you think Pavel Dorofeev's game is at?
What should the Rangers do in goal?
Do you have faith in Dylan Garan?
Should they go out and get somebody else, say Jordan Bennington?
Let us know in the comments and we'll chat again next week.
