Deadly crash kills 3 in Bastrop

I really wish everyone would just take consideration for our workers. They come into the store all the time so you know my heart goes out to the families who who lost somebody. Early Thursday morning two TxDOT contract workers were killed on the job on State Highway 71 near Tucker Hill Lane. The driver Bastrop County Sheriff saying the driver crossed over into the restricted construction zone. of the vehicle also died. Both workers confirmed to be from Jordan Foster Construction. They released a statement saying our thoughts and prayers are with their families, our team, and everyone affected by this tragedy. I asked residents who drive these roads every day about the construction on State Highway 71 near Tucker Hill Lane. Construction that started last October and isn't scheduled to finish until fall 2028. It's definitely causing major traffic, and it's definitely causing major pileups as well. I just feel like the traffic patterns are constantly changing. Even me working here all the time, I never know really which way we're going to be going. Suzanne Bishop, who works nearby, tells me collisions happen in this area too often. I think it's every week. If not, I definitely hear the ambulances or EMS calls. Going down, you know, they're either on this side of the county line or on this side of the county line. TxDOT also releasing a statement reminding drivers to be cautious in construction zones and Bastrop locals are echoing that statement. Just be aware, just be safe and be sober as well.
