The all new 2027 BMW i3 Electric brings the legendary 3 Series into the Neue Klasse era, and this time we are taking a closer look with a complete test drive and walkaround.

With 463 horsepower, up to 468 miles of preliminary estimated range and 400 kilowatt fast charging, the BMW i3 50 xDrive could become one of BMW's most important electric cars.

The 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive uses a dual motor electric all wheel drive system producing 463 horsepower and 476 pound feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds.

But the new i3 is about much more than straight line performance. BMW developed it on the Neue Klasse architecture with sixth generation BMW eDrive technology, an 800 volt electrical system, new cylindrical battery cells and the Heart of Joy high performance control computer.

Inside, the traditional BMW dashboard has been completely rethought. BMW Panoramic Vision stretches information across the lower windshield, while a 17.9 inch Central Display runs BMW Operating System X. The new layout is designed to keep important information closer to the driver's natural field of vision while creating a cleaner and more modern cabin.

Charging is another major part of the story. The i3 can accept up to 400 kilowatts at a compatible direct current fast charger, with BMW estimating that approximately 191 to 208 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes under suitable conditions.

In this video, take a detailed look around the exterior and interior of the new BMW i3 and see the technology behind BMW's first fully electric Neue Klasse 3 Series. We also take a closer look at its driving technology, performance, handling, regenerative braking, charging capabilities and the features that could define the next generation of BMW electric cars.
