NBA insider drops a BOMBSHELL...
Oct 30, 2026
The most recognizable NBA insider just dropped
an absolute bombshell on the Pat McAfee show
involving this Miami Heat team and their potential.
Plans at the NBA trade deadline.
I'm here to break down the newest
conversations involving this Heat team
and all-star level point guard, potential Hall of Famer, Kyrie Irving.
We'll break down the quotes and comments from Shams,
the likelihood this trade could actually take place this season,
as well as if this is even a remotely good idea for this Heat team
based off what we have witnessed through the first five NBA games.
We'll break down all of that on this episode
of Heat Digest, but first, please do us a
favor, scroll down and smash that subscribe button,
make sure you're staying up to date
with everything Miami Heat.
We do appreciate the love and support,
and again, we can't do any of this without you
guys, so again, thank you,
but now let's get to it and break down the news and how Shams
has tied Kyrie Irving to this Miami Heat organization.
Again, as we've had this conversation multiple times over
the last span of months involving
the Heat and Kyrie Irving and whether
or not they would actually go out there and attempt
to make a blockbuster trade to acquire him.
And the reason being is because
of the conversation at the point guard position.
Now, we'll break down the quotes first,
but we do have to highlight why.
Replacing the current point guard
De'Veon Mitchell would not be the greatest idea and
also adding someone like Kyrie Irving instead
of De'Veon would just make things a lot more
difficult than what we've already witnessed
and the Heat are 1-4 through this point in
the NBA season.
Things have been difficult to say the absolutely.
So let's first start with the quotes
and then we'll break down the rest of the conversation.
So he opened up with, quote, I'm sure.
Knowing the Heat, they're going to be monitoring Kyrie Irving.
This all started because Darius Butler on the Pat McAfee show,
former NFL player, played DB safety corner.
Very good at what he does, but he is a Heat fan.
He is from the South Florida area,
and he was questioning what is going on with this Heat team
and if we could see Kyrie Irving land in Miami.
Shams makes it abundantly clear that the Heat
are definitely going to be checking in on Kyrie Irving
and the Dallas Mavericks if things continue not to go well in Dallas
and if Dallas wants to go in a polar opposite direction
rather than holding on to a 34, 35-year-old Kyrie Irving
who's still elite at the game of basketball
but doesn't really fit the time frame of the Dallas Mavericks.
Now, he would also go on to say there's a slew
of teams now that are monitoring Kyrie Irving,
so it's not just the Miami Heat.
Basically, the...
Championship aspiration type of teams
are monitoring Kyrie Irving, and for good reason.
If you go out and fill a guard position,
the point guard position specifically,
with someone like Kyrie Irving
and you are already in a position to make a run at an NBA championship
and the way your team is constructed could take on someone like Kyrie,
especially if you needed an offensive boost.
Why would you not go out there
and make the trade to go all in at this point in the season,
or at least at the deadline of this up
and coming season to then make a run at an NBA championship?
Now, before we get to the rest of the news,
I have to thank our sponsor for this video,
Kalshi, as Kalshi is the best.
You can use the link down in the description or in the pinned comment.
Use promo code DIGESTNBA when signing up.
You get $55 added to your account instantly when trading your first 25.
And if you're looking for something to trade, your first trade,
you can trade on NBA players to be traded this season,
and Kyrie Irving is a potential option for you.
There is other options like Anthony Davis,
Miles Turner, and various others.
But right now, Kyrie Irving is who we are discussing anyway.
A $25 trade pays $36.76 as...
Kalshi has a 68% chance of this actually taking place.
Now, you're not trading on who he is traded to,
but just the idea, in fact, that he is going to be traded this season.
Again, use the link down in the description or in the pinned comment
to sign up using that link, and you get that awesome promotion.
But now, back to the conversation at hand,
and if Miami could even make this trade.
The question is,
If you're Miami, what can you give up for Kyrie Irving?
And this has been the conversation
that has surrounded the Miami Heat and Kyrie Irving
ever since we started having these conversations over a month
and a half ago, as this is not
the first time we have discussed Kyrie
Irving potentially landing in Miami.
Shams would go on to point out
that the Miami traded away three first-round picks and a swap
and other assets, obviously, Tyler Herro,
Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasper Siakuchonis,
and then all of those draft picks
and draft compensation to Milwaukee in order to get
Giannis Antetokounmpo.
And that is not crazy.
Giannis is one of the best players in the world.
We're seeing it through the first five games of this NBA season.
He is dominant.
He's lights out.
He's unstoppable.
But now, with that being said,
the way this Heat team is constructed, what assets do you
have available to then give up
to get someone like Kyrie Irving without further handicapping
your team?
Shams is going to say, I believe they have one first-round pick,
if eligible, to be traded.
Is that enough to get Kyrie Irving?
My sense is probably not.
So, Shams making it abundantly clear that the price tag
on Kyrie Irving is going to be astronomical, to say the least.
Despite him being 35 years of age
and having a pretty hefty contract at this stage of his career,
he's going to be in a position where not only
do you have to give up a lot to get him,
But you are going out to get someone who's in.
Really the final year of his deal
because next year is a player option so he could opt out or
he could opt in and again you'd be paying a 42
and a half million dollar price tag next year
for someone who will be 36 years of age.
I believe I could be wrong by a year or two
but this year you'd be paying 39 and a half.
The way this Miami Heat cap room is currently sitting
Miami's already in a difficult spot.
You look at the finances here,
they are already in a very difficult spot.
We all know they only have 14 guys on this roster
because they want to be in the buyout market,
assuming that Zach Levine, Drew Holiday,
various others could potentially be bought out by their respected teams
close to that NBA trade deadline, which could result
in contenders going out and getting these players with cheap contracts
because they're already being paid
or have been bought out by their previous team.
Getting Kyrie Irving would take an arm and a leg,
and Miami potentially doesn't have
a first-round pick to go out and trade for him, so what does that mean?
Well, you'd have to give up players to get him,
and if Miami went out there and made
a trade, this is the wrong graphic, give me one second,
give me one second, that is, that's
the current Miami Heat depth chart,
but if you were to go out there and make that trade,
and you could use that first-round pick, it would not look like this.
It would have to be Jovic and Wiggins or...
Wiggins and Mitchell in order to get Kyrie Irving plus
that first round pick but Miami
right now doesn't seem like they're going to have that first round pick
because of their record
and also there is a rule where the NBA teams
in the NBA cannot have consecutive years without a
first round pick. Miami wouldn't have
a first round pick for two years if they traded this
potential first round pick
and they only have this first round pick if it's 1 through 14.
Probably not going to happen if we if everything goes to plan
with the Heat team based off how they are currently constructed
It's not going to be a 1 through 14 pick
So Miami really we can guess in the odds are Miami will
not have a first-round pick. So if they trade it
There, it's just not going to work.
There's no way this is going to work.
So if you give up the assets,
this trade would not work for Dallas because they'd be taking
on too much money.
But if you traded someone like Wiggins and Jovic, that could work.
But we've heard, we've, we've had this conversation.
Dallas does not want Nikola Jovic.
Miami was interested in trading Jovic for Klay Thompson.
They were not interested.
They were willing to buy out Klay Thompson
rather than taking on Jovic's deal.
Jovic hasn't done anything through five games
to make you think he's even remotely close
to being.
Being worth that contract that he got just offseason ago.
Like this is Miami's in a position where they
absolutely there's no way they're going to
be able to make this trade.
And if you do give up someone like De'Veon Mitchell,
who's been playing outstanding
through this point in the year, look at your depth at that point.
You have Kyrie as a starting guard.
You have Drew Smith following up.
Ryan Conwell's listed as a shooting guard.
I moved him to the point guard because he has that ability.
But then at the two guard, you have.
Hardaway and Thompson, who have been streaky,
to say the absolute least.
Hardaway's coming off his best game of the year, without a doubt.
Larson will be starting at the three,
which isn't a problem because he's playing great.
But the depth is gone.
You have Gardner, Fontecchio, who can play the three or the four.
Giannis and Portis rounding out the fourth position.
And then Bam and Nick Richards rounding out the five.
The depth is absolutely diminished if Miami does make this trade.
And puts Miami in a very interesting situation.
Not only in the sense of finances, because after this trade,
they'd only have one million and some change.
So going out and getting anyone, whether it's in the buyout market
or not, would be basically impossible in the sense of adding depth.
So you'd have to bring up two-way guys, let them play.
Again, they'd have to either get standard contracts
at the bare minimum, or you'd have to let them play down the G League.
And then once they get up to
Like, the back half of the season,
let them play as definitive bench pieces for the remainder
of that season.
Again, it could be more than 40 games,
but again, the last 40 games of the NBA season
could end up working out, and going
into the playoffs would be very, very tricky.
So, Miami, yes, in a tough spot.
Is it likely this trade actually happens?
No.
Do I think they should do it?
Absolutely not.
De'Veon has been playing out of his mind.
His price tag's a lot cheaper.
He's in the final year of his two-year deal.
And he's playing the role you absolutely need.
Complementary scorer that can get hot,
can give you 18 to 22 points per game if the shot
is falling.
And also, he's a walking 7 to 10 assists per night
while playing elite defense, something
that Kyrie Irving is not going to bring
to the table for this Miami Heat team.
Let me know down below, what are your thoughts and opinions?
Do you think, yes, add Kyrie to Bam and Giannis,
even though that construction of Bam and Giannis
hasn't worked outside of one game, the most recent game last night?
Or, no, keep the depth and the very lackluster amount of picks
they do currently maintain.
Let me know down below your thoughts and opinions,
and I will see you guys on the next episode of Heat Digest.
