The mystery over who sent out flyers providing transgender resources
to the students of a household will likely remain
a mystery until after Election Day.
The Texas Supreme Court paused proceedings.
It's saying it issued a stay in the case, and more legal action could
be on the way as well, but waiting until after the election.
Fox 4's Lori Brown, live with the story. Lori.
Steve, these flyers are addressed to kids,
and they direct people on how to get hormone and gender-affirming care.
And they direct people to the website
for the Transgender Education Network of Texas, also known as TENT.
But that organization says they didn't send out these flyers.
And now they have filed a petition to try to figure out
who is behind what is being called a political stunt.
The mailers claim to be sent by the Texas Transgender Student Union.
But it turns out the return address is fake.
And the organization is an LLC just registered last month in Wyoming.
The attorney representing the LLC is Attorney Chris Hilton.
Hilton previously worked for Ken Paxton
in the Texas Attorney General Office
and was one of six attorneys
who took leave to help in Paxton's impeachment defense.
Appellate Attorney David Cole says Hilton's representation
of a so-called transgender group
would be surprising if the group is who it claimed to be.
If whoever sent the flyers was politically aligned
with TENT, they wouldn't have hired
somebody that used to work at a high level of Mr. Paxton, period.
And so there's nothing nefarious about that,
but it does show where they're coming from
politically
and ideologically.
I reached out to Attorney Chris Hilton to ask why he
is representing the Texas Transgender Student Union.
He did not answer that question,
but instead provided a notice of non-suit by TENT.
The notice says TENT filed the petition to learn
who was responsible for the mailer,
and they now have the information that they need to file
a suit against the entities and individuals responsible.
At this time, no new lawsuit has been filed.
The flyers came up at last night's Fox News Town Hall
with J.D. Vance in Fort Worth.
A few weeks ago, my daughter received a letter addressed to her,
not to me, explaining how to transition from female
to male without her parents ever knowing.
I don't know who sent that letter to your child, but I think the person
who sends a letter to an 11-year-old about gender transition,
what I call that in my family is a pervert,
and that person ought to go to prison.
Vance made no mention of the legal battle that is now underway,
calling into question who actually did produce the flyers
and if they have conservative ties.
While the organizations have the right to anonymity and the right
to form an LLC, this court case is showing that one may lose
that right if someone pretends to be someone they are not.
I reached out to the attorney representing TENT to find out
when they plan to file a lawsuit against the entities.
Or individuals who they have learned are behind the flyers.
I have not yet received a message back.
