Final night of our Halloween tour. That's right. All week long we've
been checking out different displays across the tri-state.
Tonight we're ending with the townhome on the Upper East Side
that has gone viral for its Titanic-themed decor.
Fox 6's Stephanie Ruttini live on East 64th Street
with an up-close look at all the details.
Steph, I love your Halloween costume, I gotta say.
Thank you. I came decked out and ready for the assignment,
but I wasn't expecting this.
I kind of wish I had like an outfit change to match.
This is absolutely remarkable.
If you look at the detail here, we're on the Upper East Side.
We're actually not too far from our headquarters in Manhattan.
And the inspo here, Titanic after the ship sank.
And I'm going to introduce you to the woman behind it all,
Marcella Heimerwin.
Hi.
And her son Luca.
Luca's here with us.
Hi, Luca.
How are you?
Amazing.
Thanks.
Well, thanks for being on with us.
Marcella, let's start with you.
I mean, this is so detailed.
You do something like this every year.
Yes, we do something every single year.
We've been doing it for like 10, 15 years.
And we try to change it up every single year.
So this year in August is usually when I start thinking about
what I'm going to start doing for Halloween.
That's so mean.
My six-year-old became...
August, August.
Actually, my six-year-old and Luca
and my husband all watched Titanic one night.
Okay.
And my little guy became really, really obsessed.
The six-year-old, right?
The six-year-old, really obsessed.
And he started watching it every single day.
So...
Um, when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween,
he said, I want to be Jack.
And so you said, that's it.
We're going with it.
I said, okay, I know my theme.
We're going to start ordering all these amazing dresses from Amazon.
It's so detailed.
Like the instruments.
I got broken old used instruments from eBay.
Bay.
Um, what else?
Then we started layering, like, lots and lots of pieces.
And tell me, I mean, you did a lot of this yourself.
You said your son helped as well, right?
So what did you do specifically?
Okay, so basically what I did, as you can see over there,
all of those pearls are spray painted.
So one time after...
Let's go, let's go, all together.
Show us, show us.
Okay, show us.
So basically after school,
I came home and I saw my mom spray painting all of those pearls.
And I asked if I could help.
And there's different pearls with different textures on those.
We use spray paint in them.
Wow, this is so much work. You guys should be so proud.
And you're going viral.
Does that happen every year?
No, it's never happened.
We usually do something really over the top
and, like, find freaky or scary or spooky,
but this year I think people really took to the, like,
the elegance and the romance and the story behind the Titanic.
We thank you so much for talking to us, both of you,
and we'll have to come back, Steve and Natasha, next year,
because I don't know how you're going to top this,
but, I mean, next year there's going
to be a lot of expectations, right, guys?
Yeah.
Yeah, it's amazing.
You're right, it's so close to the station.
CHECK IT OUT IN PERSON.
so intricate.
