France is preparing for another day of protests
which authorities warning of a very high risk of
disorder on Halloween.
Around 70 000 police officers are due to be deployed across the
country as students, trade unions
and yellow vest protesters demonstrate for a third consecutive
weekend. The protests began over school conditions
but have widened to include anger over the cost
of living. Unions say government measures announced
this week do not go far enough.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said demonstrations would
be kept out of city centers with marches allowed on the outskirts.
In Paris, protesters will follow a route
from Porte de Bagnolet to Porte de Charenton
after the Council of State overturned
an earlier decision that had approved
a march between Bastille and Nation.
A nighttime curfew is also in place in parts of Paris affected
by unrest earlier this month.
Authorities are stepping up security to prevent the repeat of
repeat of the violence and looting seen on 17th October.
