Is World War III getting closer? The Pentagon has a new plan to keep US military bases operating independently for 90 days if global war breaks out. But does FORTRESS mean officials know something we don't—or is it just common-sense preparation?
We look at the Pentagon's doomsday plan and why governments around the world are getting ready for emergencies.

The Democrats actually orchestrated a secret ballot plot in Alaska.
The Epstein Calls coming from inside the House of Representatives.
And it's the end of the world as we know it.
And I feel like we've heard this before.
That and more on this week's America Uncovered headlines.
Welcome to America Uncovered, I'm Chris Chappell.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
What? I'm not wearing a costume, you say?
Yes, I am. I'm dressed as a politician.
Doesn't get any scarier than that.
But if you want a good old-fashioned spooky story,
Utah authorities linked serial killer Ted Bundy
to another teenager's 1974 murder through DNA testing.
Man, just when you think you know a guy.
And if you're wondering what makes this story so spooky,
it's the fact that we can use DNA testing
to definitively solve crimes from 50 years ago,
and yet Andrew Cuomo still hasn't faced any consequences for
Covid policies this decade that made so many granny ghosts.
But you know what's even spookier than granny ghosts and politicians?
Midterm elections!
Democrats are hopeful of their chances for taking back Congress.
Polls are looking good, even though they're
Basically useless, but hey, why interrupt the fantasy?
And they're getting a lot of donations,
including from the co-founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman.
Yes, this is his LinkedIn profile picture.
Hoffman, of course, had ties to Jeffrey Epstein,
including sending Epstein gifts,
visiting his island,
and maintaining their relationship
after Epstein's initial conviction in 2008.
I realize I have to be specific,
because Epstein smooth-talked so many people that just having
ties to him doesn't really mean anything.
Hoffman's relationship with Epstein has made
headlines before. But here's what's new.
He's emerged as a top Democratic donor,
just as the Democrats
are releasing ads attacking Republicans for how they handled
the Epstein Files. Hey, maybe he just feels bad for his...
Lack of character judgment and just wants to help Democrats win
because he knows they'd for sure release the Epstein files,
even though they had the opportunity to under Biden
and just kind of aggressively didn't.
But this time will be different.
Go ahead and kick that football.
I promise this time it won't be suddenly yanked away.
But Democrats are also getting donations from the crypto industry,
which has spent 176 million dollars
in political donations for the midterms.
But all that money isn't just going to Democrats.
It's going to Republicans as well.
Because the crypto industry doesn't care who wins,
just so long as everyone has fun not regulating crypto.
The Democrats have something else going
for them in the midterms this year.
An actual secret effort to stack Alaska's ballot.
According to the New York Times...
Wait, did I just read that right? The New York Times reported this?
As it did.
In fact, Trump's DOJ even cited the report
in an amended lawsuit filing
that seeks to block the Alaska vote
if the Republican candidate loses
and the spoiler candidate gets enough votes
to skew the race.
The DOJ wrote,
although what the New York Times reports
is not always true,
its reporting here aligns with what the United States
has been alleging on information and belief.
It also aligns with common sense.
Wow, that is glowing praise for the New York Times coming
from the Trump administration.
So, what's going on here?
Well, you see, Alaska has ranked choice voting.
What that means is that people don't just vote for one candidate.
They note their first, second, and their third choice, etc.
This makes voting in Alaska just a little more complicated
and it gets even more confusing
if there are two people with the same name on the ballot.
Dan S. Sullivan has been Alaska's Republican senator since 2015.
But there's another Dan Sullivan on the ballot.
Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., a retired teacher
who lives in a tiny fishing village on the Alaska panhandle.
So someone trying to vote for the actual Dan Sullivan
might unknowingly vote for the fishing village Dan Sullivan by mistake.
According to the New York Times,
Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. was intentionally recruited
by Alaska Democrats with help
from a veteran Democrat operative named Jared Kurtz,
who was introduced as a specialist
in secret ballot maneuvers.
It's getting worse.
Because according to the article,
the Democratic candidate for Senate in Alaska,
Mary Peltola, knew about the effort
to recruit a Dan Sullivan, any Dan Sullivan,
for the Alaska ballot.
And the extra Dan Sullivan on the ballot specifically said he had
no interest in becoming a politician,
but would run if it meant hurting Trump and helping Peltola.
Now, here's the cherry on top.
According to the Times, ballot stacking tactics are common in politics
and generally considered legal
and have been employed by both parties in Alaska.
And yet the Trump administration has filed
a lawsuit over the impending election in Alaska.
All of which is to say, strap in folks, this midterm is gonna be wild.
Speaking of October surprises,
will former FBI director James Comey,
who investigated the Trump campaign's potential ties to Russia
and interference in the 2016 election,
and looks like an emo Lindsey Graham,
go to prison?
The Trump administration hopes so.
They really, really, really hope so.
Because Comey's been charged a third time
by the Trump administration.
Well, they're back again.
It would almost be funny if it weren't such an appalling abuse
of the Department of Justice.
One that we cannot become numb to.
They're back!
Again.
Man, he talks about charges
the same way I talk about squirrels in my bird feeder.
May we all be so blessed to have
that much loose lawyer money lying around.
Comey was first charged with lying to Congress and obstruction,
but that case was dismissed.
He was then charged with threatening the life of the president
for posting this photo of seashells forming 86-47,
the most violent of all bingo combinations.
That case is ongoing.
These new charges are over alleged transmission
of national defense information.
And to be clear, these are just charges
he hasn't been indicted yet.
So will the third time be the charm
and send one of Trump's most targeted nemesises
Nemesis?
Nemesi?
To prison?
Or will it be a case of—sing along
if you know the words—nothing ever happens?
Hello again, unflattering caricature of younger me.
The internet loves to say that nothing ever happens,
but here's something that happened.
An Illinois man was charged
with mailing threatening letters containing white powder to members
of Congress.
The powder turned out to be harmless,
so the man was also charged with perpetrating a hoax
threat.
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden responded,
can you send some of that white powder to me
for further testing?
Oh, and also buy my art and my crypto coin.
From white powder to black liquid.
Oil!
Trump announced he was traveling to Corpus Christi, Texas,
where the U.S. has received one million barrels of Venezuelan oil.
The first batch of what he said would be billions of barrels.
Trump says that, coupled with unleashing energy dominance in Alaska,
will make the Western Hemisphere the energy capital of the world.
If it works out, this is good news, since the U.S.
can't really rely on oil coming from the Middle East for some reason.
And potentially best of all,
Trump said this wouldn't cost the American taxpayers anything.
We took over Venezuela very successfully,
and they've sent me as a gift a boatload of
a million barrels of oil,
and I'm giving that to the United States of America.
If this is all true, it shows the power of the art of the deal.
I just don't remember the chapter about kidnapping foreign presidents
to usher in regime change.
They may need to do an expanded edition for that one.
All of this conflict
is making it feel like World War III is on the horizon.
And many people think it's even closer than
that after the Pentagon announced a doomsday plan
to keep America fighting if global war erupts.
The plan is called Fortress.
Federal Operations for Resilience,
Troop Resources, Energy Supply, and Survivability.
Find yourself someone who loves you as much
as government officials love coming up with
complicated acronyms.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth explained that under Fortress,
every major military installation in the continental U.S.
would be expected to generate its own electricity
and have enough supplies to operate for at least 90 days independently,
including water and fuel.
Seems like a solid plan,
especially in this modern era of combat
where enemies hit infrastructure like data centers.
Of course, after hearing about this common-sense approach,
many people lost their minds.
Several posts were made saying the Pentagon knows something is coming.
And this, coupled with Japan, the UK, Norway, and Germany
seeming to make war and crises preparations,
and the US warning Gulf allies of possible short,
intense renewal of the Iran war after the midterms,
well, it has people feeling that the vibes
are a little less than immaculate.
But as always, it's important to look at the context.
Japan has had a fire and disaster management agency since 1948,
although they created a new more centralized one earlier this year.
The UK's BeReady website replaced one from 2024.
Norway holds a self-preparedness week every October,
so this seems less like they know the big one is coming
and more like the Boy Scouts be prepared.
A little less scary when it's a criteria for a merit badge.
Also, Fortress was announced a month ago,
so this isn't sudden new Armageddon information dropping.
For me, the biggest issue here is that the Pentagon is doing something
they seemingly should have done decades ago,
and people see common sense action and assume,
clearly, the government's preparing for the end of the world.
Everybody panic and go full Black Friday,
clearing out the shelves like March 2020 to doomsday prep.
Maybe they were too busy coming up
with the right acronym before they could implement a plan.
But what do you think?
