Hey guys, in this video,
I traveled to one of the only two Costcos in France.
Took me about two hours, but got there.
And this Costco was definitely different,
especially when it comes to their cheese,
their sausages, and their booze.
So I got some stuff to try.
And before getting to that, a huge thank you
to the sponsor of this video, Freecash.
Now, the name Freecash does sound a little too good to be true,
and I thought the same thing at first,
but they actually paid me
to play games I already really like, so it does work.
The thing to remember is that this is
not a get-rich-quick kind of thing.
This
quit your job and do this full-time deal.
This is more like an extra coffee,
bubble tea every now and then kind of thing.
So here's the deal.
Nowadays, we all know every app, games, brands,
is
they all spend a ton of money to try to get your attention.
not
So a ton of that money goes to ads.
But here's the thing.
How often do you actually stop and watch the ad?
a
Probably not a lot.
So instead of paying for ads to interrupt you,
you.
these companies will pay you through free cash
to actually try their stuff.
So this is my account.
I picked a few games.
This game is actually a game I used to play all the time.
This Viking game where you build up
Thank
your village and strike down on other people's villages like random people
or your friends. I just play this all the time. You can see the reward right here
for hitting certain levels. And again, all this to play a game I already play any
watching.
I think they got 4.6 on Trustpilot.
Quick tip though, usually people turn this off,
but do turn on app tracking when it asks
you to.
That's how the game tells FreeCash that you hit your goal
so you actually get credited.
And once you hit the minimal withdrawal threshold,
you can cash out on PayPal or gift cards depending
on your country.
And here's the best part, if you sign up with my link,
you get a $10 bonus after your first
offer.
$10, that's almost half the way to your first payout.
The links are right below in the description box
and in the pinned comments, so go try
out FreeCash.
Hey guys, good morning from Paris, France,
and today I'm going somewhere really fun,
but it's going to take a while to get there.
First I walked to the metro station,
then I realized I wasn't supposed to go to the metro station,
I should have to go to the train station. Get on the train.
You realize you take the wrong train again.
Try to buy a cup of coffee. Fail.
Finally get on the right train, hopefully. And then it starts to rain.
Prochain arrêt. Merci, pas de jour.
Get on this bus.
Get off the bus, hey, there's a Chinese buffet here.
And Costco is right there.
This looks like a really modern and nice Costco.
So apparently there's only two Costcos in all of France.
And this is the newer one.
They're opening up a third, I think.
Maybe closer into Paris.
Same as any other Costco.
You walk in, there's TVs, electronics.
It's Christmas time, so I guess a lot
of potential Christmas gifts are right up front,
including this cool little Polaroid camera.
For obvious reasons, I can't
get too much stuff to take home with me. Whoa, mini sausages.
Oh, this looks freaking delicious.
This is in the snack aisle. How good does that look?
It's amazing.
I guess they eat a lot of pine nuts here.
Whoa, this is all sausages.
mini sausages
Wow, there's some good looking snacks here.
Chili coated peanuts.
Fresh potato chips.
Like fresh potatoes, you can just buy a whole bag.
of hand-cooked fresh potato chips. that's amazing. oh
iberico ham potato chips. i don't think i've
ever seen this before. this is passport flavor
pringles. so they're different flavors from
different countries. like japanese style stir-fry,
mexican style cheesy jalapeno.
and they definitely have way more cookies. this whole
aisle is just cookies. what is this?
a grenade? grenade oreo? oh it's like a Warrior protein bar.
Giant buckets of popcorn and guess what?
More cookies. Is this not the coolest thing?
This little electric stove that looks like a mini fireplace.
Even their luggages look cooler. That's a really cool looking little
little pot and when your water's done
this little birdie blows a whistle.
I'll tell you what, in the cookware section of Costco in France,
they definitely value pots
more than they do in the US, right? Look at all this.
So many different pots. Obviously they stew
more stuff, they sauté more stuff.
Let's check out their Christmas stuff. Oh, one piece Lego set. Wow.
It's a pretty cool looking remote control car.
Well, Nintendo Game Boy's back.
Little arcade machine.
The biggest game of Guess Who I've ever seen in my life.
I don't know how big the wine and alcohol section is
in normal Costcos, but this is all wines and champagne.
Like this whole aisle here,
whole two aisles of champagne and wine.
And it's so pretty.
And this is just other liquor.
I mean I never really paid attention
to how big the liquor section is in normal
Costco's in America but I don't think it's this big.
Hey Kirkland has their own wine
and there's more wine.
If you want over $700 bottle of wine you can find it here in Costco
in France or like a $300 bottle of Chinese wine
or this ginormous bottle here. I bet the pastry
section here is incredible.
Oh yeah right away this is the bread section. This is so different.
than what you see in America.
This all looks like freshly baked bread. This all looks really good.
Cakes, pastries. Wow, the pastries look amazing.
Natas. Look at these ginormous eclairs.
I'm taking a box of eclairs. Oh, this looks so good. So heavy. Merci.
Costco here in France. The food samples include bread and butter.
Oh, it's freaking amazing
bread and butter. Oh, that's so good.
I'm buying a loaf of that bread. Sold. That
That's freaking incredible.
These are the baguettes.
I bet these are good too.
Whoa, it's still warm.
Yeah, let's do it.
Need some for breakfast tomorrow too.
They just offered me a piece of chicken.
Oh wow, really good chicken.
That would have been great to eat that with some of my bread.
Seafood section.
Giant salmon. Let's see what kind of foods they have.
Oh, ginormous poke bowl. What is this?
Chicken wraps. Sushi, of course. Quesadillas.
Wow. Okay, these sandwiches look amazing.
Ham sandwich. Oh, what is this? This looks like...
A cheesy potato casserole with ham with giant slices of cheese on top.
Parmesan risotto.
That looks great too. I do gotta be careful.
I can't take a lot of stuff back. Wow,
this is their cheese section.
This looks so different right than what we have in America.
The breeze. Wow. Yeah, I'm gonna buy some cheese to eat with my bread.
Creamy Camembert cheese.
Man, this cheese section is unreal.
This is what a real cheese section looks like.
Okay, this cheese look amazing.
Or I could have just got a jam and cheese party tray.
What is this?
It looks like cake soaked in rum.
This is the ham section.
I think I'm gonna get some ham to eat with my bread too.
Looks so good.
Actually, instead of the ham,
this is cured beef made in France.
Look at this.
Whoa.
Oh mother of ham. How much are one of these?
Okay so they're $18. The more expensive one is $21.99
per kilo. So this is seven kilos.
This is like $160 worth of ham. If I was staying in France for
a month, I am 100% getting one of these.
Oh and the cheese section continues. Seriously? Oh should
I have just gotten this? It's like a little tray of different cheese.
This is definitely smelly though.
There is so much cheese to choose from.
Yeah, this is all sausages and ham, roasted pork shank.
These are all little pastry items.
Oh, let's get some mini burgers. This is the sweets. Macarons,
cheesecakes, tiramisu. I feel like we gotta get a creme brulee.
It's only three. I can eat three.
never mind. yeah i could
do it. if you want some asian stuff there's jajangmyeon,
tteokbokki, there's octopus. the produce here
are so much better looking than what you see in america.
this actually looks super fresh and good and just like pretty much
everywhere else in the world. the eggs
are just sitting outside not in the fridge.
That is a good orange.
It's got a giant box of awesome croissants.
Or this, like, you know, just frozen baguette
that you can heat up whenever.
That actually tastes good.
Well, when you buy honey here in Costco in France,
there's actually a honeycomb inside.
There's coffee here.
I've never seen coffee being given out
as a sample at Costco before.
Mm, that's really good.
All right, got a couple things from the Costco cafe area.
So they do have a few things that's
different than the U.S. First of all, barbecue chicken pizza.
Also, they have french fries.
You're in France. There's gonna be french fries.
Something else they have is a focaccia sandwich
and an ice cream sundae, but unfortunately they're out of both.
They're even out of hot dogs today.
Looks like a pretty good piece of pizza.
Peppers, onions with barbecue chicken. Ginormous as all
Costco pizzas are. That's really good.
Chunks of chicken with really crispy peppers.
Oh, the pepper's a little sweet too.
Yeah, produce is just so much better in this country.
I think it's kind of funny that one of the few Costco's
in the world that has French fries is France.
Fries are good, really good fries actually.
This is something I see a lot of people getting here,
is the French fries and chicken tenders.
Oh my gosh, it's cold.
Like this part is okay, but this part is super cold.
I didn't fry that long enough.
Oh, cold.
I mean, it's cooked, but it's cold.
Yeah, this part feels cold too.
Well, that's a bummer.
That's so different than the French fries.
Which are piping hot and delicious and crispy.
I think this would have been really good because
it's actually super juicy chicken inside
and good quality chicken it looks like.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it's cold.
Guess I'll stick with my pizza and french fries.
Another thing they have here that's not in Costco in America,
coffee. It's not as good
as the sample coffee I just got but not bad.
I'm still disappointed by the chicken tenders.
It has so much potential.
This is not even like it's sitting there and got cold.
Because the batter is hot.
Some of the batter is hot.
They just didn't fry it long enough.
Luckily, it's all cooked anyway.
So, still a problem eating it.
But, yeah, that's a shame.
I'm going to finish lunch and it's about an hour
and a half trek back to the city.
See you then.
Okay, perfect time to be eating.
I got in right before the rain started coming down,
so it's nice and rainy outside, and it's super cool.
To me, this is the most perfect time to be in Paris.
When the weather's cool, the high today was only 60.
It's starting to rain more.
It's so nice.
I didn't bring a lot of stuff back
just because I had to lug things
for like almost two hours back, but let's start.
With our cured beef, I'm so excited for this.
Actually, I may be more excited for the bread.
And this is good.
I'm a little nervous about this.
I don't think I've ever tried some of these cheese before.
Yeah, this is gonna be pretty funky.
I've never seen a cheese platter like this before.
This is all goat cheese, creamy goat cheese.
I figured creamy cheese will go better with my bread.
This is so exciting.
Again, if I lived in Paris,
bread and cheese and meats and sausage and ham,
that's what I'd be eating.
Pretty much all the time the bread is that good.
My mouth is already watering.
This is such a crazy loaf of bread.
This is cereal bread and it's so freaking beautiful.
Look at this. This thing's got wheat, rye, oats,
quinoa, millet, spelt, there's buckwheat in here,
there's seeds. This is absolutely freaking gorgeous bread.
Two giant loaves for four euros.
This is going to go so well with my cheese.
Actually, let's open this first.
So this is French dried cured beef from the French Alps.
And it looks absolutely amazing.
Beautiful, thin slices of beef.
The beef itself looks a bit lean with a bit of a smoky flavor.
Not too much of a smoky flavor, but a bit.
Mmm.
Oh.
Wow, this thing is freaking awesome.
Obviously, it's salty.
It's way more tender than like a beef jerky or something.
This thing, when you start to chew, it starts to melt.
Oh my gosh.
Like seriously, I'm just putting that on my tongue.
You feel it melting.
Mm, this place is so awesome, by the way.
It's so soft.
It tastes so good, even without the cheese.
The cheese is gonna make this even more incredible.
I love how they packaged the cheese at Costco,
sitting in this little wooden bucket.
I think the most intimidating may be,
I don't know, maybe this one, the darkest one.
But maybe this one,
where the outside kind of looks like a level of contra.
You know the video games where they're fighting inside
the alien body. It kind of looks like that.
I think this is the least intimidating looking one here.
Where are the cheeses trying to fake
me out? And that's the stinkiest one.
So apparently based on the label,
these are all from Loire Valley in France.
Pretty much where Cinderella
and all Disney princesses will have their castle.
So it's not five, it's four. Four different types of cheeses
because the two little round cheeses are the same.
So these little white ones, these are called Crottin de Chavignol.
Yeah, innocent looking little cheese.
It opened really easy, and it looks like it's more crumbly than creamy.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, it's nice and crumbly.
Ooh.
Okay, this one doesn't smell really at all.
Like a tiny hint of a funk,
because goat cheese is going to have a tiny bit of funk.
It smells pretty good, actually.
Mmm.
That's freaking awesome.
Mmm.
I love that cheese.
You know what the distinct flavor of this cheese is?
It's a really citrusy cheese.
Wow, citrusy, sour. This is so good.
Like I think I was correct in my assessment that this is
probably the most gentle cheese in that box.
I feel like this cheese is going to be like the
golden retriever of cheeses, you know,
like a like a beginner cheese. And I bet you
it's going to be so good with my meats
because a little citrus with some savory beef.
Heck yeah, this is so good.
I love this.
Wow, so I looked it up.
Apparently, this thing might not be as innocent as it seems.
Apparently, the nickname for this cheese is called Little Dung.
Because what happens is, like,
people will leave this in the fridge or something for weeks.
And it's kind of like putting Goku in a gravity chamber.
It will get really, really strong and stinky.
And it'll turn super hard and bluish.
Okay, I think I caught it at a good time.
So, basically, they're the cute little mogwai before midnight feeding.
Okay, I think the next one.
Um, we're gonna do this last.
Let's do this round one.
So the name of this cheese is...
Sainte-Maure
It's about the same color as my plate.
Oh, this cuts really easy.
Oh, this one is gonna be nice and creamy.
Oh yeah, this is gonna be super creamy.
Still a little crumbly, I guess.
Mmm. Oh,
that's good.
Oh, I really like this.
This is not that funky either.
Yeah, I feel like the last one smells funkier than this.
Yeah, this is like zero funk.
I like this much better.
This is amazingly creamy and rich.
Creamy, a little tangy.
Like not as tangy as the last one for sure,
but a little tangy.
The texture kind of reminds me of fudge.
Oh, it's got a slight sweetness to it as well.
I'll be honest, this thing was kind of scary
when I first looked at it, right?
Like the outside does look really intimidating.
This is awesome cheese.
I'm going to remember this cheese.
It's one of those cheeses that if you just look
at it from the outside before you cut
it open, before you taste it,
this cheese is kind of like when you, I don't know, run
into some big dude with scars all over his face,
but then you find out he's a kindergarten
teacher.
It's kind of like that.
Man, this is great.
Hmm. I could annihilate this in the next 10 minutes.
It's that good. Like zero funk.
This thing has never been inside of this cup.
I could see this on its own, even without the bread.
You know what? I think I've decided
that the log thing looks the most intimidating.
Like the outside mold. Like, am I right? Look at this thing.
All right. I'm going to try this. Whoa.
This thing is like a little pyramid.
So this cheese is called Valençay.
I've never seen a pyramid looking cheese before.
Oh, it's soft. Ooh.
This thing looks beautiful on the inside
and again no funk like maybe half a percentage of funk
but really no funk. Wow look at this.
This is this is definitely gooier than the last one.
The flavor is definitely lighter than the last two.
The rind has a slightly earthy flavor,
almost like a little mushroomy flavor. Inside the cheese is way milder
than the last two cheeses. Milder but way creamier.
Yeah I don't think it tastes
as good as the last cheese. I mean it's still good.
Also this one's a bit citrusy as well.
You know what? This one tastes way better on bread than on its own.
If I was staying in Paris long term,
I would just go get one of those giant legs of ham.
Get a bunch of cheese. I'm super into cheese now.
I liked cheese before. I would get a bunch of
random cheeses to try. I don't know,
from Whole Foods or different supermarkets or whatever. And my
favorite has always been, you know, just a good old Gouda.
But these goat cheeses, like I would
just go and try all the different cheeses at Costco.
Get a couple of loaves of bread. That's
what I will eat like all the time.
You can't find bread like this at any other Costco. All right.
Oh man, look at this thing.
What? There's like a skewer in the middle of this thing.
It's a straw in the middle of this cheese.
Oh my gosh. Yeah, this is definitely the most intimidating.
Holy moly. Look at this thing.
Look at the rind on the outside.
So I guess I cut it with the with the straw inside. Oh, it pulls out.
So this is the straw that's in the inside of this this cheese
and it pulls out.
And I just looked this up.
Apparently this here, this is the, um, this is a rice straw. The
function is because this cheese is so fragile,
the straw kind of holds the cheese together.
And these lettering here that you're seeing
is laser engraved with the producer's ID.
I have never seen something like
that before. All right, let's cut into this. Oh yeah.
I smell it. Like honestly,
it's not the worst smelling cheese. Stinkiness level out of 10, I say
I'd say like a four.
It's not that bad.
I mean, I've had cheeses where I took a bite
and it felt like someone farted in my mouth.
This is not that.
Hey, let's try it with the rind.
This is definitely the creamiest one
of the four, for sure.
Okay, this is definitely the goat.
By that, I do not mean greatest of all time.
Like, it's the goatiest, funkiest of the bunch.
Again, not extreme.
But it's funky. It's super milky and creamy.
The flavor of this, I feel like it's even milder than
the last cheese I tried, but way creamier.
This one though, I feel like this is the best one to
pair with bread. It's so milky and smooth.
Personally, I just like the flavor of the
second cheese the most, but I like this texture the best.
I'm not as much into the flavor of the
rind. The inside texture is absolutely milky and rich and perfect.
I think this one also goes best
with the cured meat. This is honestly so much fun.
Raining outside, put on some anime.
Last season of Black Clover.
Slowly just sit here, eat my bread and cheese and meat.
Like the best way to spend the afternoon.
I kid you not, best way.
Like I'm already about halfway done with this loaf.
I feel nothing.
Like I could keep on eating for a long time if the food is just this.
I mean, the bread is just mostly air, you know?
I got another meat.
Hang on one second.
By the way, Costco coffee spilled all over me.
Let's try a sausage.
So this is a French sausage brand that I see pretty much everywhere.
Oh, it smells good.
There you go.
I have no idea what I thought I would find
if I broke it in half and looked inside.
Oh, it's good.
It's freaking delicious, man.
You know what blows my mind?
It's the fact that in France, kids can snack on this.
It tastes like a beautiful, natural, delicious, salty,
umami-filled sausage that is chewy at first, but...
As you chew, you start tasting more and more of the fat
and the whole thing just starts melting
your mouth. I kid you not. It's so fatty and nice.
They have this and we have a Slim Jim. How's that
even work? Oh this is so good. It's so good with my bread.
Let's get the cheeses involved here. If I
can, I'm gonna take bags of these and bring back to America.
This is amazing. Bread, cheese, sausage.
It goes so well with the goat cheese.
Rainy Paris is like one of the most cozy places on this planet.
Two other dishes that I got.
First off, mini cheeseburgers.
They were on sale.
Had to get some mini cheeseburgers.
28 little cheeseburgers.
I think I'm gonna cook up half now,
and I'll cook up half for breakfast.
Oh, it takes 11 minutes.
This came out really well.
Tiny little cheeseburgers.
Just a little bit of cheese.
That's okay.
I got plenty of cheese.
Oh man, I love these little burgers.
I can't believe we don't have this in America.
I think kids will go,
Crazy for these, right?
Tiny little burgers.
Not only are they cool looking,
they're freaking phenomenal.
Toasty sesame bun.
The meat patty is good.
Ketchup with some pickles on the bottom.
That should taste good.
These are probably the only burgers on earth.
They can pop the whole thing in your mouth.
Amazing.
28 burgers probably equals,
I don't know, like four regular size burgers.
But they're just way more fun to eat.
If you don't believe me that these things actually taste good,
next time you're in France,
get yourself some little mini burgers
and prepare to be addicted.
All right, the second savory item that I bought from Costco,
I just cooked it up.
Duck confit looks amazing.
Look at the crispy skin of the duck.
Look how tender this is.
Oh, that pulled apart so easily.
That is absolutely pure tenderness and juicy meat.
This looks just like the duck confit I got at a restaurant.
Oh my gosh, this might be better.
The one I got at a restaurant?
I mean the meat's a little on the drier side.
This meat is pure tenderness. There is nothing
dry about this. This duck looks like it just went for a swim.
The drumstick, oh wow. This is one of
the most tender bites of duck you will ever have in your life.
The skin is crispy as fatty. This is
100% restaurant quality duck confit.
I just bit into a giant piece of fat and it's so good. This is wild.
Look at that toasty skin and fat!
Remarkable, like remarkable.
I wish we had this back in the States.
Oh man, this is so freaking good.
Look how toasty the bottom of the duck is.
This is all stuff that's been
that was frying the fat, which there was a lot of in that packaging.
You could have scraped that fat
off the duck and used it to cook all sorts of other stuff.
Fries, fried rice, whatever. It would
It would taste amazing in a duck fat.
It's gotta be one of my favorite Costco finds of all time.
Amazing. All right, I'm gonna finish
this because I just remember I still have dessert. How good
does that look? Costco Bakery is already pretty good,
but you gotta imagine Costco Bakery in
France. It's gotta be the best. Look at this eclair.
First of all, it's ginormous. Secondly,
it's beautiful. Open it up.
Oh, it looks like maybe raspberry cream inside.
Whoa, wow, double wow.
All the wows in the world.
I'm gonna try another flavor right away.
I don't know what this is.
Oh my gosh.
It tastes like chocolate mousse.
Chocolate mousse eclair, are you kidding me?
This has got to be one of the best Costco pastries of all time.
The eclair itself, light as air.
Crunchy bits on top, chocolate mousse inside it tastes like.
Oh, that's too good.
This is what?
I think this is the caramel.
Oh, this is the greatest thing.
Greatest thing, seriously.
Pastry itself. I'm surprised this thing is not floating out
the window right now. The filling is creamy. It's delicious.
This is an absolute OMG item from Costco.
I mean, what do you expect, right? This is France.
You know, the bread's gonna be good.
You know, the pastries are gonna be good.
I'm, so glad I went to Costco today. It definitely was a trek.
It took me about two hours to get there
immediately because I got on the wrong train.
But otherwise, I think this Costco would
have took me about an hour and 20.
But I mean, if you had a car, it'd be about like 45 minutes.
Yeah, if I lived in Paris, heck yeah,
I would trek it once a week, grab a bunch of stuff,
get a bunch of duck confit for the freezer,
get some baguettes for the freezer, load my
car up with different types of cheese,
pick up that enormous leg of ham, pastries, of
course.
I even saw some ice cream I wanted, but I,
you know, couldn't really take that back.
I mean, I've been eating at Costco all around the world.
This?
That's been one of my favorite experiences.
There were so many food items I've never seen before.
Only thing I wish they had was the Costco sandwich
at the cafe. That's going to be a
little bit of a regret, but everything I got was awesome.
I'm so happy. I went for that goat
cheese sampler. I'm so happy I did that.
The bread's ridiculous. The sausage, this bag of
sausage, that could absolutely pile driver the Slim Jim.
Like this, I can never eat Slim Jim again.
I could never do it.
This is so much better.
And it's probably so much better for me.
There was like 10 more things I wanted I couldn't get.
So far, my favorite Costco's top five,
I gotta say Taiwan, Australia Costco.
Hawaii Costco. Oh, Korea Costco, definitely.
And then I think France. Either France or Japan.
All right, now I'm gonna just sit around. It's like five o'clock.
I'm gonna sit around for the rest of the night,
watch my anime, eat my bread and cheese,
and just have an awesome, nice, rainy Costco night.
Oh yeah, so glad I went. And of course,
all the information for this Costco is down below for you guys.
Thank you all so much for watching. Till we eat again. See you later.
