Broncos HC Sean Payton Delves into Getting 200th Win in Dramatic Fashion vs. Chiefs
Nov 2, 2026
Coach, to your left, 200th win, sixth fastest coach to do that,
especially in this sort of fashion.
What are the emotions for you right now,
and did you get a game ball for this?
Yeah, all that happened.
You just think about the teams,
the players, everyone involved.
It's not like the pitch count.
I put a number on the grease board
in the pregame locker room.
You guys will appreciate this.
48. It was 48 days since we played that Monday night game
and we were awful. And I put one of
those fold-up chairs, not like this, but the pads in them.
And my plan was at some point during the
pregame talk to pick that chair up
and kind of Bob Knight it into the... Now there's a problem.
These fold-up chairs are much heavier.
And so I did a test run and I kind of lift and I'm like,
well, the only thing I could throw
then would be the hand sanitizer stand. I wasn't going to do
Um, yeah, it's, it's, it's,
it's, um, it's all the people,
all the players, all the, you know,
the wins. And, you know, I shared with them before the game,
I said, look, you know, I was
away in 2012. They tried to kill me.
Um, couldn't talk to anyone. It was crazy. Couldn't talk to
anyone. All right. 22 do the network stuff.
And, um, you're, you know, every one of us at some
At some point, it has to get off this thing.
But you don't want to, and we're all better having
been on it than never at all.
So I've been fortunate to have been a part of a lot of good players
and a lot of good organization, you know, people that make that happen.
So it was emotional.
And, like, the timing of the game and everything else, you know,
I'm screaming at Vance one second, and then I'm hugging Vance
and shaking Andy's hand.
Like, there's nothing like it.
I think the little bit of the curse
is that I hate losing probably more than I like winning.
And so this was a good win.
