Assalamu`alaikum

Today we`ll be Exploring Waterloo Place, Pall Mall and The Theatre Royal Haymarket .
The layout of Waterloo Place was designed by architect Mr. Nash. It intersects at Pall Mall and is conjoined with Regent Street. Around the year 1815 “low and mean houses” or “filthy dwellings” were demolished to create an area that would later come to be referred to as Waterloo Place and Lower Regent Street.
What was Waterloo called before?
It was known as Lambeth Marshe, but was drained in the 18th century and is remembered in the Lower Marsh street name.

What is Pall Mall?
a game wherein a round bowle is with a mallet struck through a high arch of iron (standing at either end of an alley) which he that can do at the fewest blows, or at the number agreed on, wins. This game was heretofore used in the long alley near St. James's and vulgarly called Pell-Mell.
The street's name is derived from pall-mall, a ball game played there during the 17th century. The area was built up during the reign of Charles II with fashionable London residences. It became known for high-class shopping in the 18th century, and gentlemen's clubs in the 19th.

When was the Haymarket Theatre built?
4 July 1821
It is a Grade I listed building, with a seating capacity of 888. The freehold of the theatre is owned by the Crown Estate. The Haymarket has been the site of a significant innovation in theatre.
The First Theatre on the site was built by a carpenter called John Potter on the site of an old Inn called the King's Head but the Theatre was not allowed to open because of the 'Patent Theatres' rule. It was used by amateurs and 'resting' Patent Theatre actors for a while until Potter managed to gain the patronage of the Duke of Montague, and finally open the Theatre properly in December 1720. He opened it with a French company which was sponsored by his new Patron the Duke of Montague. Unfortunately this was not a success and closed in May of the following year, but undeterred Potter let the Theatre to anyone who thought they could fill it.

Kapan Teater Haymarket dibangun?
4 Juli 1821
