Another Cowboys embarrassment vs. Arizona | Cowboys Unfiltered

Ooh, is he mad?
Look at the look
on number four after what he would call moments following that walk
of shame, the worst regular season loss he has taken
in 11 years as the QB for America's
team.
It's Cowboys Unfiltered.
I'm Jeff Cole.
They did it, folks.
They did it.
They did it.
They found a way to go even deeper, to find a new rock bottom.
You thought Tampa was as bad as it could get.
How can you trump losing at home in prime time
to a rookie undrafted free agent quarterback
making his first road start?
You saw it. Simple.
Blow a 17-3 lead in the final 16 minutes of regulation
to a team that switches to a backup quarterback
that has also lost its top two running backs
and just hand them four straight touchdown drives.
botch overtime when you only need a field goal to go win the game.
I'm telling you what you already know.
The height meter cannot be high after what we saw.
It was at a four last week and we're still at a four.
So there's the win.
Like, I don't know how we're still at a four because again,
this Arizona loss is as bad as it can get.
Well, I shouldn't say that because every time we do again,
the Cowboys find a way to, to make it worse.
But man.
Remember the opener?
Like you thought the Giants game was like an abomination.
It couldn't get worse than this.
Now there's five losses on the record.
And I think that's the least painful one,
which is crazy to think about.
And it's an indictment.
Jerry Jones said this loss was an indictment on the whole show.
The show is being run by Brian Schottenheimer.
And most of you don't think scratching your heads would be...
Fair and accurate.
You'd think it's just crazy and ridiculous and incompetent
what we saw as far as the decision-making as that game slipped away.
Take a listen.
The coaching staff is incompetent.
There's eighth-grade little league football coaches
that can do better than these teams.
Like, come on.
In the beginning, too aggressive.
At the end of the game, too timid.
Let's just take the field goal and go up six
and give the other team a full minute to...
Slash through our defense
that is giving up touchdown drives to a backup quarterback.
It was bad.
I think Shoddy is, you know, back in the Jets days for Sam Darnold,
we would talk about him seeing ghosts.
Like, it kind of feels like Shoddy's there.
Like, his confidence is nothing.
His quarterback's confidence in him is shot.
Because Dak Prescott said point blank at his press conference
after that mad walk that we opened the show with that
He would have liked to have had back that drive right
after Dallas recovers the failed onside kick for Arizona.
Cowboys just needed a first down.
They needed one first down to ice this thing.
And Shottie was timid.
And so, surprise, surprise, this isn't new,
but a lot of you want him fired.
Every time the Dallas Cowboys player fire a
penalty, it beats them.
They think they're going to the Super Bowl.
But when they lose to a good team,
they step back and look like a bunch of stupid fools.
They need to put the head coach, Brian Schottenheimer,
put him on the bus and tell the driver,
don't stop till you're a thousand miles out of Dallas
and dump him over there in the river
somewhere because he ain't no coach.
Dump him in the river for us for a bath, maybe.
These are human beings.
I mean, we have to couch it that way.
Brian Schottenheimer is a good dude.
He's a good guy.
I think that his players really fell in love with him as a guy.
I remember, you know, Michael Parsons calling him up,
wishing him good night, Shottie.
They like the guy.
And what's not to like as far as a guy?
But as a coach, he's failed this program.
10-14-1 now through 25 games.
Two and eight in games following a win.
So they have only had one stretch,
and it was last November, of consecutive wins.
They had three in a row.
It got them one game above .500.
And it's been all .500 or losing record football since.
So you want to know if Jerry Jones will fire Brian Schottenheimer.
And basically, Jerry said,
don't expect to see that happen midseason.
I'm going to believe Jerry at this point on that.
Wade Phillips, the only one he's fired mid-season,
had a much better mark and track record,
left with a winning record, won a playoff game here.
Shady hasn't even been to the playoffs.
What I do think will happen for Shady,
barring some ridiculous miracle plot twist,
is he will join Chan Gailey, just two seasons as head coach.
Gailey even had a winning record, 18-14.
He made it to the playoffs both years.
This looks like the beginning of the end for Shady.
And not just that, but the coaching staff at large,
including the rookie hotshot,
hyped-up-during-training-camp defensive coordinator,
Christian Parker.
Get rid of Christian Parker and Deron Blanks.
The Cowboys need another defensive coordinator.
A defense coordinator.
The crazy thing about
this is I think for three quarters
of the game yesterday before
Gardner Minshew came in at quarterback
for Jacoby Brissett with Arizona, this was the
best game the Cowboys played all season.
And they found a way to turn it
into the worst game that they played all season.
Those first seven drives,
just a field goal allowed by Christian Parker's defense.
They had two takeaways.
They'd had four all season through seven games before game eight,
this abomination of a loss.
Yeah, I don't see any way that Christian Parker doesn't continue
the trend that is the carousel
of defensive coordinators here for Jerry Jones, who...
Can you believe this? People are tired of the owner
and general manager. Listen, listen to this.
All you're going to do is make money.
Get your old, rusty, dusty-looking Pillsbury dough face
down, my man. Pillsbury dough boy.
That's my favorite call so far here today. That's wild.
Jerry is tired, man. Yeah, he's making money, but he's pissed.
I fully believe that because
Because he has invested a lot.
And this is just an absolute nightmare.
And there's no player that he's invested more in than Dak Prescott.
And the offense put up 30 points.
Like, give them credit there.
But in the end, Gardner Minshew
was the better quarterback down the stretch.
A backup quarterback for what was a two-win team in Arizona.
Out-dueled Dak Prescott, who had a chance in overtime,
just needed to go get into field goal range and could not do it.
And so as we hear every single week, Dak's got to go.
Dak is the problem.
He's not pushing the team.
He's not pushing the team down the field.
Yeah, they scored 30 points.
You look at what the defense has done.
We're going to get to 17.
Y'all want to blame somebody?
Blame the quarterback.
And the crazy thing, again, Dak Prescott,
he put blame on Schottenheimer in his post-game press conference.
Dak, that is.
Prescott, like Schottenheimer, wins the press conference.
I mean, this guy can talk.
He is polished.
And he...
is intentional if he's going to throw somebody under the bus.
And he kind of did it with Shotty,
saying that he wishes that Brian had not called two
conservative run plays out of three to go three
and out when the Cowboys got the ball
back in the fourth quarter, just needing a first down to ice the game.
He said, I wish we were more aggressive.
He was literally asked, is there one
moment you wish you could have back?
And he said, that one.
And so it's like shades of Rio where they botched
those 28 seconds at the end.
They had a chance to go score
a game-winning touchdown, and they don't do it.
Dak didn't hang Shotty out in that moment.
This was a change yesterday.
He did not hide his disdain for Shotty's lack of aggression,
lack of faith in him down the stretch
to stop the bleeding and win this game.
We are just getting started on a feisty episode of Cowboys Unfiltered.
Up next, we'll mix in some of the funnies from after this.
For
a
loss
like
this,
it's
got
to
happen.
We've got the anger.
A little snippet of that in just a moment here,
but how can we get through?
How can we survive?
How can this be therapeutic?
Well, you know, there was no winning for the Cowboys,
but somebody here was right.
Or some lovely lady named Poppy,
who is no longer 1-6.
She got a W. She's 2-6 now, and some of you recognize that.
I think they could have beat Arizona.
I'll always bet my Cowboys, no matter what.
It's funny because during
the prep for this unfiltered,
I was listening to that call
and who pranced into the office,
Poppy looking for treats, which she received and Gabby,
who does a tremendous job with her. So we played that.
I think Poppy liked it. I wasn't quite sure
she was rummaging under my desk
while we played it looking, I think, for more treats.
Poppy got the dub. Congrats, Poppy. I'm happy for you.
Thank you.
Sometimes these types of losses are just
so hard to watch and process
that it makes some of you think that, like,
anyone could have done better than what we saw
for three and a half hours yesterday, like even a seventh grader.
Cowboys need to come to Little Lone Oak, Texas.
Our seventh grade buffaloes.
On 5-0, not to mention,
we have one other Cowboy to make a record.
Cowboy, come on.
Maybe the Cowboys need to change to being the Buffaloes.
I don't know.
Maybe the Cowboys need Josh Allen.
I don't know.
Dak Prescott.
Yeah.
Yeah, this was a tough one.
You saw.
He was very mad.
So were you.
And one call in particular,
I deem this the fill-in-the-blank curse call.
Because we had to bleep him out so much, as you're about to hear,
that I really don't know that you'll be able
to make out exactly what he was trying to say.
See for yourself.
I hate being a cowboy fan.
Y'all let me down.
Every.
And then on top of that,
y'all off that high from last week from beating the third string
Eagles.
Dale Earnhardt playing the game
That ain't no accomplishment.
Be a good team.
How about that?
You know, when you're not sure if the bleep is a noun or a verb,
that's when you know someone's
angry. And after this one, yeah.
At three and five, Cowboys fans are livid. And I understand it.
And when we come back, we get our last word for you,
which might be my favorite synopsis of the
Cowboy experience that we've heard
so far this year from a guy who's a father and a lifelong
Long cowboy fan who is sick and tired, not just of the losing.
But the spectacle that comes with it, stay with us.
It's
our
last
word
for
you.
And it's bad enough to year after year watch
these types of deflating losses.
It's another thing to be in the shoes of this man
who gets our last word for you this week,
who not only had to endure what happened against Arizona,
but drive home from watching it with family
and try to put words to it for his son.
Take a listen.
This
week,
the
Cowboys
will
get
back
on
the
fancy
plane.
And they will go up to Indianapolis.
And he's spot on.
The spectacle is undefeated.
The following is undefeated.
We had almost 200 calls come in after
this loss this week in less than 24 hours.
And as we have after every single loss,
pretty much, some of you saying, I'm done.
I'm no longer a Cowboys fan.
But we know for the vast majority, that's just not the case.
And you will continue to live out this experience.
I think it was the part about driving his son home,
trying to put it into words,
and then also the blood pressure-raising losses.
We're seeing more of these cutaways during the broadcast that show
that the blood pressure moment is there for Jerry Jones, too.
When he's, I mean, they couldn't air the audio of some of those clips
where he's reacting to this thing as it just falls apart.
I just think, again, as I said off the top,
that this is a new rock bottom.
I cannot believe that in less than a month's time
that the Tampa Bay loss was supplanted
for owning that honor.
And I think that this loss for me cemented that the year's done
because even just last
week after you get that win in Philly,
which looked so good, say what you want about what
Philly had, but it looked good.
You looked ahead and then said, all right,
well, they'll beat Arizona and they'll probably
beat the Colts, even though that's a road game,
not a home game like Arizona was.
And then we're above 500.
And yeah, the Niners will probably come here and beat us,
but then we should beat the Titans
and we should beat the Eagles.
I'm not feeling that way anymore.
I now look at these next nine games.
I mean, I still think the Cowboys should beat the Colts.
But will they?
I don't trust them to beat anybody.
If they can lose to an Arizona team
or a Tampa Bay team the way they have,
I mean, the only games that I really feel,
I guess maybe the word I'll use is decent about,
are at the Colts and against the Giants and the Eagles.
Outside of that, Niners, Seahawks, Rams, Jaguars,
even the Giants and Commanders.
I don't love those games.
I think those teams are possibly trending upwards
more positively than the Cowboys.
This isn't a really bad place.
I think Brian Schottenheimer is done after the year,
but I don't think a move happens now.
And so be ready to call up with more of the same.
This is becoming a broken record.
Shoddy needs to go.
The coaches need to go.
Dak needs to go.
I don't think that those calls are going anywhere anytime soon.
That's Cowboys Unfiltered here.
Eight weeks in the books.
Appreciate you sticking with us through the thick and thin.
