Today we walked through Northumberland Avenue to Whitehall place. Northumberland Avenue is a street in the City of Westminster, Central London, running from Trafalgar Square in the west to the Thames Embankment in the east.
Northumberland Avenue is renowned for its mix of beautiful Victorian interior and inspiring use of event technologies. Few would know that London's most central venue, a mere 77 paces from Trafalgar Square, has a rich history dating back to 1887.

Northumberland Avenue is a pink property in the UK version of the classic Monopoly board game.
The street is around 0.2 miles (320 m) long and part of the A400, a local road connecting Westminster to Camden Town. It runs from Trafalgar Square eastwards towards the Thames Embankment.
The area which is now occupied by Northumberland Avenue was originally called Hartshorn Lane. It remained the London residence of the Percy family, the Earls and Dukes of Northumberland, until Victorian times, when many houses of this age were lost.
Following a fire the Duke sold and the house was demolished to make way for Northumberland Avenue.



Henry VIII established Whitehall Palace to replace Westminster as his main residence in London. Henry VIII was the first monarch to live here, followed by James I and later Charles. The Banqueting House is the only surviving part which is open to the public.

Whitehall Palace, former English royal residence located in Westminster, London, on a site between the Thames River and the present-day St. James's Park. York Place, the London residence of the archbishops of York since 1245, originally occupied the site. At the time of its fiery destruction in 1698, Whitehall Palace was probably the largest palace in Europe; the centre of English royal power for 168 years. The fabulous palace was created by Cardinal Wolsey as his central London residence. It was enlarged and extended massively by King Henry VIII after 1530.
