Welcome to your Tuesday afternoon. I'm meteorologist Keith Marler.
Thank you for clicking on Fox Local as we
are getting our waves of rain through here.
The bulk of our three day rain, three and a half day rain coming
on in here yesterday, bringing one to three plus inches of rain
for northern Minnesota and in the northwestern parts of the state.
The metro by 7 a.m. this morning had half
to three quarters plus of an inch, but we picked up another.
Quarter plus of an inch over the course of the mid morning hours.
So most of the metro as of 11 a.m. this morning from that secondary
first push by lunchtime today had about anywhere from six tenths,
around two thirds of an inch to almost an inch of rain.
And we'll keep that light rain going off and on for the better part
of the day today as it continues to wave up through the area
and into the late afternoon and evening.
And then as that secondary low moves up into the state into Wednesday,
we'll get the wraparound moisture
and we'll keep it going through the day on Wednesday as well.
Picking up another half inch, maybe inch of rain in through the next.
40 hours or so, wrapping it up into early Thursday morning.
There'll probably be some mist and drizzle
and very light drips into our Thursday morning commute
before we dry out through the day on Thursday,
maybe seeing some breaks in the cloud cover,
especially north into Thursday afternoon
and struggling with more of a seasonable style temperature
as we go into Thursday and Friday.
And an average high in early November would be the upper 40s,
which would be very cool from what we've been used to as of late.
In the meantime for us today, well,
certainly wet, not as rainy as yesterday
with the gusty winds and the...
More of the persistent, aggressive, driving rains.
That's a good word for yesterday.
Driving rains.
Today, it's just kind of a light rain, occasionally moderate rains.
Just, hey, laid back rain.
I'm a slow moving low.
I'm just bringing your rain.
It's kind of a sort of a water jet firing at us.
Like yesterday, it's more of a, one of those things, a garden bucket.
Okay.
The garden, you fill it up and you water your plants with.
Those things.
58 degrees, afternoon, mid to upper 50s.
Our high for the days behind us, that was the middle 60s.
That was our high yesterday at 11.59 p.m.
It became our high today at 12.01 a.m.
That's gone, all right?
Now it's all about the mid to upper 50s
for the rest of the afternoon and the evening.
We'll cool off to the low 50s once the sun goes down.
It goes down at 4:58 this evening.
So just as you go vote this afternoon or evening,
just know you got to keep that rain gear alive
because the rain's not going anywhere.
It's just off and on.
There'll be lulls here and there,
but just off and on rain tonight, then off and on rain tomorrow.
A little cooler, go for the lower 50s tomorrow.
Highs in the low to mid 50s at 54 here in the metro,
a lot of low 50s outside the Twin Cities, just more of the same.
Then we wrap it up into early Thursday morning,
maybe a few drips and drops for your morning commute
as we keep the cloud cover around,
starting to break free of that as we go on into our Thursday afternoon
with a high struggling to get back to around 50
as we go on into our Thursday proper.
Friday, there's the brighter day and seasonable, cool.
Partly sunny, high around 48, heading into Saturday,
mostly cloudy at 51, and then you continue to warm up.
Sunshine highs jumping well above average in the mid
to upper 50s as we head into the early days of the work week.
I'll continue to get some updated rainfall totals.
We'll continue to pop those up through the afternoon.
As we head on on, just click here on Fox Local
for those updates through the afternoon and evening.
Have a great Tuesday afternoon.
