In this video, I want to talk about five,
actually, it might be six, whatever,
five new transfer bonuses that have just launched
with Chase, Amex, and Capital One.
We then have extra cash back that you can earn
at different retailers every day for the first
10 days of November. And we
also have a load of elevated Chase welcome bonuses,
up to 300,000 points. So stick around for those.
Hey, credit warriors, welcome to the show.
My name is Ben Hedges, aka The Credit Shifu.
And on this channel, we cover US credit cards,
Personal finance and luxury travel.
If you like the sound of that, please subscribe.
And this video is brought to you by Silo,
who have just launched their first transfer partner this month,
but more on that later.
First, let's look at a load of transfer bonuses that just launched.
If you don't know what that is, here is a very quick explanation.
Credit card points, like the ones earned from Chase and Amex cards,
can be transferred to airlines and hotels,
where they often provide better value
than if you booked through that bank's travel portal.
In most cases, points transfer out at a one-to-one.
But if a transfer bonus is in effect, and let's say that transfer bonus
is 30%, then for every 1000 points that you transfer over,
you would get 1300 in your airline or hotel account.
These bonuses will normally run for a promotional period
of say a month or so. So let's look.
At chase bonuses first, we have an 80% bonus with IHG,
which normally transfers at 1 to
1 or 1,000 to 1,000 as they say here, but now there is an 80% bonus.
So every 1,000 you transfer over,
you will end up getting 1,800 in your IHG hotel's loyalty
account and that run runs until December 3rd.
It's normally not worth it to transfer chase points
to IHG since IHG points are only worth
about 0.6 cents per point on average.
But now with an 80% bonus,
that takes us up to 1.08 cents per Chase point transferred over
on average. But if you are booking high-end properties,
you may well get more value out
of your IHG points and that's more value out
of your Chase points transferred over with the bonus
and that could really make it worth it.
Do make sure you check what value you would get for the
same IHG hotel through Chase's travel portal versus with IHG points
and see how it compares.
Next, another chase transfer bonus, and that is to Wyndham Hotels.
And this one is 30%, and it also runs until December 3rd.
This one is also not as valuable as it sounds.
Currently, the points guy gives Wyndham Points 0.55 cents
in value per point.
But that sounds a little bit low to me,
since Wyndham Points seem to vary wildly in value.
Depending on the property, like for example,
booking this Wyndham Grand in West Palm Beach,
which would be $487 per night in cash, but at 45,000 points a night,
it comes out at about one cent per point in value.
But then if we go down to Miami and try
and book this Belvoir in Miami Beach, which is $180 per night in cash,
we find that it's also 45,000 points a night.
And that gives us just 0.4 cents per point in value.
So it could be a good deal to get an extra 30%,
depending on what kind of value you're getting out
of your Wyndham points in the first place.
Next, we have an airline transfer bonus from Chase,
and that is a 30% bonus.
To three different airlines, Aer Lingus,
British Airways, and Iberia. But they all use the same
points currency anyway, Avios.
So if Chase only gave us one of these, we would get all three of
them anyway, since you can transfer Avios between them.
There's even a page on avios.com where you
can do it. But anyway, let's just look
at British Airways since that is probably the most well-known
of the three. It is a 30% bonus and it runs until December 1st.
And a 30% bonus is really good when
transferring to an airline, okay?
This could be a good one to take advantage of. Most I've ever
seen with British Airways is 40% so this is pretty close to that.
Alright let's now look at a few transfer bonuses
from Amex and Capital One.
All right. So from American Express,
we have a transfer bonus that just started to Virgin. And
this one is a 30% bonus and it ends on November 30th.
The value with airlines tends to be better
than with most hotels. Okay.
The points guy values Virgin miles at 1.5 cents each. So now we add 30%
to that. And that gives us 1.95 cents in value
for the original chase points that you transfer
over to Virgin. And remember the points guys valuations
are skewed towards economy anyway.
Anyway, so a business class redemption will normally.
give you even more value. Then lastly, with Amex,
they currently have a 35% bonus on transfers over
to Marriott. This one runs until December 10th.
Similar to other hotels, the value of Marriott
hotel points isn't as high as airline points.
The Points Guy gives Marriott points 0.75 cents
each in value.
So 35% takes us up to about one cent per point on average.
So do check what the price of the hotel would be using the travel
portal and make sure it will cost you less Chase points to transfer out
to Marriott and book than if you book through the travel portal.
The advantage of booking directly, though, is that you can use
the benefits of any status that you have with Marriott.
OK, you normally don't get the benefit of Marriott status
when you book through the Chase travel portal.
And trust me, I found out the hard way. OK, I'm a Marriott gold.
I booked through the Chase travel portal.
I didn't get my
Benefits from gold status at the W in DC one time, all right?
I didn't get a room upgrade.
I got the worst room with the most horrible view
in the well of the building, okay?
It was really dark and horrible.
All right, let's now move on.
We have one more transfer bonus from a different bank,
and then I want to talk about some huge cashback deals
that you can get every day
for the first 10 days of November,
and then we'll also talk about some
of Chase's biggest welcome bonuses ever.
But first, many of you may have heard of Silo.
I've talked about it a few times.
Silo.
Silo.
Silo.
Silo, silo, silo, silo.
It is basically what Bilt did for rent and mortgage payments.
But for investing, for those of you who aren't familiar,
Silo is the first and only investing
platform that gives you credit card style points.
But on your brokerage account each month you get
transferable points. Yes, they do have transfer partners now.
More on that in a moment. But you
get awarded transferable points based on your portfolio's value.
The annual multiplier is 0.25
points on stocks and ETFs
and now up to three points per dollar on cash. So if you have a
a $500,000 investing account with
in stocks and 100,000 in cash,
you'd earn 0.25 on the 400,000 and three points per dollar on the
100,000 for a total of 400,000 points every single year.
They basically turn the whole idea of points
upside down. While credit card companies give you points
when you spend money, Silo gives you points
for saving and investing money.
Which one feels healthier to you? But what can you do with these
points? Well, here is the update.
Silo's first transfer partner, Avianca,
Just came online.
Avianca is part of Star Alliance,
which means you can book 26 airlines,
including US carriers like United.
And like many of our viewers know,
if you want to fly business or first class,
transferable points are the way to go
for high value per point.
Silo also has a travel portal
where you can redeem points for up to 1.3 cents per point,
depending on membership tier.
Or you can just get good old fashioned cash back
at one cent per point.
Silo accounts are covered by $500,000 in SIPC insurance
and $5 million in FDIC insurance.
And they're running a limited time welcome bonus
of 150,000 points for our viewers when you sign
up before the end of the month and meet deposit requirements.
So use my link silomarkets.com
slash Ben, which is also down in the description below to learn more
and sign up and start earning
transferable credit card style points
on your stock portfolio today. All right, so one more
And that is that Capital One is offering a 20%
bonus on transfers to Air France KLM.
That one ends November 30th. So all you Venture and Venture
X card holders, get it while you can.
Okay, now I did say that we have some huge cashback bonuses
that you can get every day for the first 10 days of November,
and that would be with Rakuten,
which is a cashback portal where you can earn extra cashback
or Amex points as some of your
favorite online retailers and sometimes in-store too,
in addition to whatever rewards you earn
from whatever credit card you use for the purchase.
For the first 10 days of November,
they are doing something called
the Holiday Big Deal Reveal.
And the first two days are already over.
That was 15% back at Dick's Sporting Goods on the first,
and then 25% back at Foot Locker on the second.
Today's deal is 12% back on hotels,
On Expedia, and then after that, we have Gap at 20%,
Dermastore at 23%, Lands' End at 20%, AliExpress at 30%,
Dyson at 15% cashback, Skechers at 30%,
and then lastly, QVC on the 10th at 20% back.
And Rakuten Amex card holders actually get an additional
5% to 10% back at those stores too.
But you don't have to have the Rakuten credit card
for the basic cashback rate of like, you know,
15% to 20% or whatever it is.
You'll get that rate from Rakuten Plus
Whatever rewards, whatever card from any other bank you use earns.
If you want to sign up for Rakuten, I will, as usual,
put a link down below somewhere in the description
and you can get a $50 bonus with my link too.
It's a great thing to sign up for in preparation for Black Friday,
because on Black Friday,
you will have 15% or more at most stores on the site.
And that's also convertible to Amex points, right?
15 Amex points per dollar.
All right, let's now talk about our final story,
some Sky High Chase bonuses.
So Chase is offering some absolutely massive welcome bonuses
on its Ink Business credit cards,
including $1,200 in cashback slash 120,000 points
on cards with no annual fee.
And these are the highest welcome bonuses we've ever seen
on these particular cards.
So let's break them down. First, we have the Chase Ink Business
and Ink Business Unlimited.
Both cards are offering a targeted welcome bonus of $1,200,
After spending $6,000 in your first three months.
Now the public offer on these is currently $750
after the same spend requirement.
So you are getting an extra $450,
which is a pretty substantial increase.
And remember, neither of these cards has an annual fee.
The Ink Business Cash earns 5% back.
On the first $25,000 in combined annual spending
at office supply stores and on internet,
cable and phone services, plus 2% at gas stations
and restaurants subject to the same combined annual limit.
Meanwhile, the Ink Business Unlimited earns
a straightforward 1.5% cash back on everything.
I personally have this one and I use it
for a lot of my business spending.
And remember, if you have Chase Sapphire or Ink Preferred cards,
you can then transfer the cash back over
and it becomes Ultimate Rewards points.
That means the $1,200 welcome bonus
could potentially become 120,000 transferable
ultimate rewards points.
And then he could take advantage
of all those transfer bonuses we talked about.
Well, actually no,
because you probably won't get the bonus quick enough
if you apply now, that'll all be over.
But there'll be more transfer bonuses in the future.
But anyway, it could be worth considerably more
than $1,200 if you redeem it for business class travel.
Speaking of Sapphire cards,
the Sapphire Reserve for Business also has a targeted offer
of 300,000 points for spending $30,000 in three months.
If you're lucky enough to be targeted for it.
And Chase is also targeting customers
with an elevated offer on the Ink Business Preferred.
That card is offering 125,000 ultimate rewards points
after spending $8,000 in the first three months.
I don't have a screenshot of that one,
but that's 25,000 points higher
than the standard 100,000 point offer.
That card has a $95 annual fee.
Actually, I also have that one as well.
And then on the Business Premier card,
we are seeing $1,500 in cashback
for spending $10,000 in your first three months.
Now, there is one important catch with these.
They are all targeted offers, like we've said.
They're not publicly available bonuses.
To check whether you are eligible, whether you're targeted for them,
log into your Chase account and look under the Just For You section
on the left-hand side for any special offers.
I looked, and unfortunately, I was not offered anything.
But you can try clicking on that Just For You section
on the left-hand sidebar of your account,
and you can see what you find.
All right, guys, that is the video for today.
Don't forget to check out Silo.
in the links below, or you can go to silomarkets.com slash Ben
for that 150,000 points welcome offer,
especially for my viewers.
And they've also brought in their first transfer partner,
which is now live this month.
Please subscribe to the channel if you're new. I'll see you next time.
Bye bye.
