We want to check in with her first
with Fox 35's Chancellor Nguyen, who's joining us
live right now from the Ryan Elijah election night party,
and Chance, how are things going?
Don't be.
Well, Garrett, I could tell you just about an hour ago or so.
So before the polls actually closed,
we briefly talked with Ryan Elijah.
He said he was feeling cautiously optimistic.
He spoke to his people in Washington, D.C.
They say they're looking at the numbers
and they're hopeful about them, pretty confident.
But Ryan did say you don't really know until all the votes are counted.
But, Garrett, you mentioned that the early
number of votes, about 26 percent.
So it's a nice little lead for Ryan right now.
And I want you to take a look because this is the watch party.
We had to step out so you could get
a better view inside of how crowded it is.
This room is, but one thing Ryan Elijah's
campaign has really focused on is families
affordability with the everyday items like groceries
and gasoline and lowering the price
of gasoline is what Ryan Elijah believes it could lower
the price of those everyday goods
like your groceries in your store.
And the reason he says that that could happen
is by capping government spending and reducing
the restriction on domestic oil and gas drilling.
And then sticking with families,
we're focusing on healthcare with Ryan Elijah's campaign
And he would like to advocate for families
to have the opportunity and the ability to
shop around before receiving a bill.
So he advocates for that mandatory upfront pricing disclosure
from hospitals and insurance
companies.
And then focusing again, continuing with this trend of families,
we go straight into schools
and education.
We know how important education is for these families.
And Ryan Elijah has been campaigning on putting that option,
that choice into the hands of
the parents.
The ability to choose between
A public, a private, or a charter school,
along with also calling for district-level
curriculum transparency
so parents simply know what is being taught in the classroom.
And we've all heard about the public safety aspect of this.
Ryan Elijah has been endorsed by both sheriffs
in Volusia and Seminole County.
And he's also, of course, relying on his familiarity around this area.
He's lived in this district for more than a decade,
I believe two decades or so.
He's worked in...
As a news reporter, a news anchor right here
on Fox 35 for more than a decade.
So he has been in the homes with these families.
And when he jumped into the initial primary race, winning that night,
he said that his team was quickly, immediately going to work.
Because moving from August till now on this election night, he said it
was like the fourth quarter of a football game, making that final.
Push to get the voters to the polls,
focusing a lot on what he calls NPAs, these non-party affiliates,
because those people, those voters were not able to vote
in that Republican primary just a few months ago.
But now those NPAs, those non-party affiliates, they're hitting
the polls, they're casting their ballots and they're voting.
And he believes that those are the votes
that could really make a difference in this election.
Again, this is a highly contested race for the Florida's 7th
Congressional District, but he beat two-term incumbent
We're going to be having our eyes glued on Fox
because we want to see exactly as those numbers
pour in and how the numbers continue to fold out.
But I can tell you, Ryan Elijah is really hoping that this campaign
watch party turns into a bit of a celebration here tonight.
We're now reporting live in Sanford. I'm Chancellor Nguyen.
