I want to thank all the amazing volunteers
who spent countless hours knocking doors,
making thousands of phone calls,
and helping organize and mobilize across our district to
come together talk to people face
to face about what's at stake in this election.
I want to thank our campaign staff for their dedicated work
and I have to give a special
shout out and a special thank you
to the Milwaukee Brewers for inspiring all of us.
And reminding the entire country what Wisconsin can
do when we set our minds to it.
And most of all,
I want to thank
my family,
my incredible
wife Jillian,
our two daughters for their nonstop love
and support and their help to get us here.
Finally,
I want to thank Congressman Stile.
No, I want to thank him for his years of service to this district,
and though we may disagree on policies,
I just want to say that I am happy to be where I am today.
If you had told me even just a few years ago
that I'd be your next congressman,
I would have never believed you.
Trust me, this wasn't on my bingo card.
But tonight proves that when working people come together,
we can make a real difference.
I'm the son of a roofer and a foundry worker.
In our house, hard work meant getting your hands dirty
and doing everything we could to make ends meet.
And as an ER nurse, I've seen patients rationing their medication
because they didn't know if they'd be able to afford their next refill.
I've seen working families, including my own,
do everything right and still get squeezed to the brink.
And I came into this race to fight for them.
And I'm so honored by everyone who's joined us in that fight.
Southeast Wisconsin sent a message to the country tonight.
That message just isn't about political party,
it's not about right or left, it's about working
class communities coming together to advocate
for change. So whether or not you voted for me,
I promise, well everybody in this room maybe did,
but to those out there,
you know, I promise that I'm going to work for you,
that I will fight to lower your costs.
To fix this broken health care system
that leaves too many people behind
and fight the corruption in Washington.
When I get to Congress,
we're going to get right to work.
And that means taking on the big corporations
to lower costs of housing and energy.
That means fighting to keep
our rural hospitals open and capping drug costs.
And it means finally banning members of Congress from trading stocks.
That means buying and selling.
from their time in office.
Because it's us that they should be working for.
And it is you who I will be working for.
Tonight, we celebrate.
We celebrate what we were all able
to come together and do.
And together, tomorrow, we get to work.
So thank you all.
God bless you all.
God bless Wisconsin.
And God bless America.
