Hi, I'm State Representative Samara Hebron.
Today we are standing outside the Kentucky
Center for Performance Arts here in Louisville,
Kentucky after a great press conference
in partnership with the Kentucky State Chamber,
the City of Louisville, Senator Julie Rocky Adams,
and Lift a Life Novak Family Foundation.
In 2022, through legislation created by
the Kentucky General Assembly,
we created the Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership.
Today at the press conference,
we heard from Ware Constructors, who participates in the
Employee Child Care Assistance Program as an employer.
They shared that this is a huge benefit
for families that work for them because it allows
them to help with child care needs
to help their middle-income families.
Child care is a workforce issue.
Having high-quality child care that's affordable
for families is one of the most important
things that we can help with in Kentucky right now.
A lot of middle-income families
are struggling being able to afford child care.
Some families spend up to $10,000 a year just
to be able to afford child care for their children.
When we have strong Kentucky families, we have a stronger commonwealth.
