From Fox 5, it's time for a good night, New York.
We'll be right back.
Good evening, I'm Crystal Young.
And I'm Ryan Christopher, and I just can't stop dancing.
Welcome here to Good Night, New York.
We're going to have a lot of fun tonight.
We are.
We got some fashion.
We got a couple actors for you.
We do.
And speaking of actors, there's one
that everybody's buzzing about right now, and that would be
Bond, James Bond, okay?
We're talking about who is going to play the next James Bond, Crystal.
Pierce Brosnan.
In this new interview,
he seemed to give his stamp of approval to Mr. Callum Turner.
So in a new interview,
the Irish actor singled out Callum Turner, his former...
He's a former co-star in the 2017 film The Only Living Boy in New York.
He stated that he is so strong, but noted that all
of the men rumored have a voice, a presence, and a physique.
All things you need to play.
Bond, perfect for the role.
I don't care about anything that was just said
except for Dua Lipa that was right there.
I mean, he should get the role
just for being married to Dua Lipa.
I completely agree.
Listen, he's going to work every day
and the Bond girl is rumored to be Margaret Qualley.
So he's going to be going to work,
making out with Margaret Qualley
and then he's going home to Dua Lipa.
Yes.
Who's got it better than Calum Turner?
Not that many people.
No, but you know, I don't know,
but is he good looking?
Yeah.
Have you seen the other guy?
Yeah.
Have you seen Jack Loudon?
I mean, I think Callum Turner is the answer.
I don't know.
His ears are a little big, and I don't know.
He's like, okay.
Well, maybe something else is big.
Oh.
Well, then he's okay.
Like his feet, I'm saying.
Oh, you had to take it there.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
Well, fair enough.
All right.
Well, he's a great bond, according to you.
Okay, so from one iconic character to iconic dancers.
So, Ryan, you spent some time with a few iconic ladies.
That's right.
It's time to bevel and kick and bevel and kick.
Okay, we were atop, not just like at Radio City Music Hall, Chris.
So this is one of the coolest New York experiences I've ever had.
Because you've seen people, you know
the marquee of Radio City Music Hall.
It's legendary.
We were actually on top of the marquee,
hanging out there with the Rockettes, doing our thing.
So it was a really cool experience.
Check it out right here.
We are here inside of Radio City.
The Christmas Spectacular is back by popular demand.
We're kicking things off here with the Radio City Rockettes.
We have some of the stars here live right now.
We have on the right Miranda and Marissa LeBar,
two sisters, by the way, from Rahway, New Jersey,
both in the show this year, and a choreographer.
She's an Emmy nominee, Miss Chloe Arnold,
who co-choreographed one of the beautiful numbers this year,
a brand-new one called Ring.
Ladies, thanks so much for hanging out with us.
Thank you so much for coming.
We're so excited to be celebrating 101 years.
Ringing it in with a new tap number,
and it is magical, epic, powerful, and you're going
to see the Rockettes like never before.
All the things.
Now, I heard a little preview.
I heard a little Latin flair.
I heard some hip-hop in there as well,
so it's really paying homage to New York City,
which is a beautiful thing, because this is a legendary, iconic show.
Absolutely, and tap dance is the leading vocal
in this musical track that we have created,
played by the orchestra.
You do hear the sounds of the city,
what represents this wonderful, you know, collective, and
And it's so beautiful to see these women rock out so hard.
It's legendary.
Now, how much time went into all this?
Because I know you were working for months just
on this one number, which is beautiful.
And when you see it on stage, you'll know why.
Well, it's been a long time in the works.
I've been working with the Rockettes for about 10 years, just building
the beautiful relationship, teaching in their summer programs.
Thank you.
To be able to have this number come to fruition,
it's an absolute dream come true.
Wow, and it's got to be a dream come true for you two ladies,
not just to be on stage as Radio City Rockettes,
but to be sisters performing on stage here.
How long have the both of you been in the show together?
I know this is like the third time performing on stage together,
but you've been here nine years and 15 years, correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, that is correct.
Okay, so what is this feeling like for you
to be able to share the stage with your sis?
Oh, it's really amazing. The Christmas Spectacular has
been a part of our family's
tradition since we were little girls.
And so now we get to help create that tradition for
other families who come see the show.
And we get to do it together. So it's truly a family
experience. It's the best. And you always get along, right?
There's never any Rockettes beef
between the two sisters or anything?
No, we've got a strong sisterhood going. Okay, good, good.
Everybody gets along, just to clarify.
And I got to know about the new technology this year,
because the camera on stage, you're seeing all new angles,
bird's eye view of you ladies on
on stage during these gorgeous numbers.
So what's that like as the fan experience and for you as a dancer?
So we introduced a new sound system last year,
which really made it even more immersive for
audiences. And this year we have our new technology,
new cameras. So wherever you're
sitting in the audience, you get to see the same view.
You can see bird's eye view back of the
stage side view. It's really incredible.
It's going to help the audiences really feel like
they're part of the show and help them see
the Rockettes precision even more close up. It's
really incredible. Miss Chloe Arnold,
can you send us back to the studio with a little choreo?
Okay, so we're going to go step, clap, step, heel, heel, step.
Okay.
Ready?
Five, six, seven, eight.
Step, clap, step, heel, heel, step.
Ah!
I think we got it right.
You got it.
All right.
What do you think of the form, Crystal?
All right.
All right.
I think you have great rhythm.
All right.
Yes.
All right.
No, and honestly.
All right.
I thought you were going to say great legs.
All right.
Oh.
I got all excited for a second.
All right.
Hey.
All right.
Great legs and rhythm?
All right.
Yeah.
No, you're good.
All right.
Okay, well, hey, you're good, too.
All right.
All right.
Yeah, okay, thank you.
Sometimes.
All right.
Okay.
Okay, no, it's all love.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
All right, up next, though, we got to talk about
an actress who's doing big things.
She's not just starring in one of the hottest shows on TV.
Okay.
She's starring in two of the hottest shows on TV, both electric roles.
Oh, my God.
She must be talented but tired.
We're talking about Gail Bean.
She's going to join us when Good Night, New York returns.
All right.
So, St. Louis-born Gail Bean is acting in not one, but two TV series.
So, in the drop of Snowfall Saga, she reprises her role as Wanda Bell,
which earned her an NAACP Image Award.
That's right, and that's not all.
She's also starring in P-Valley,
where she plays a feisty wild child roulette
who turns things upside down in the strip club, The Pink.
Sounds like a night out for me and Crystal.
But tonight, she joins us here on Good Night, New York.
We welcome the one and only
and the lovely Miss Gail Bean to Good Night, New York.
Yes, Gail, Gail, welcome.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for having me.
Of course.
You're welcome.
We got the green memo.
I know.
All looking good.
All right, representing from New York.
Yes.
Yes, 100%.
100%.
Congratulations.
It's like one show isn't enough for you now.
You got to juggle two.
I know.
You know what I mean?
God gave me both two hands.
Right.
Okay, I got you.
She's booked and busy.
Yeah, for real.
100%.
So radically different things.
Let's talk about P-Valley first.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
I mean, roulette.
You have your love.
You got to love her.
Yeah.
And the best name, by the way.
I mean, right, exactly.
We find out her real name.
Oh.
Any secrets, any teasers we could put out there?
I think it, and this is probably a Katori thing,
because shout out to Katori Hall, our
amazing showrunner, creator, director, writer.
She is so specific
and intentional in her storytelling to make sure that we all can
feel it and grasp it and see it.
She flies, she flies on the pole,
and she flies in real life, so it's...
Okay, okay, okay.
All right, so we got to ask, though,
as an actress, with your character doing what she
does, how do you train for that?
Four months.
Oh, man.
Four months.
Four months before even, I'm so dedicated to every role.
I do a lot of training and research.
I trained pole dancing for four months before even getting the role.
No way.
Oh, wow.
I didn't know.
We just had a Zoom and she asked if I wanted to be a part of it.
Right.
And I was like, of course, Katori.
Like, what?
I love this show.
It's amazing.
Your work is amazing.
Pulitzer Prize winning.
That's right.
Katori Hall.
Yes.
Don't you forget about that.
Phenomenal.
Yes.
And I was like, let me just.
Start pulling?
Just in case.
And it's called fitness because, I mean,
it takes a lot of strength.
Yes.
It's full body.
A lot of core strength.
And you have to look like you know what you're doing.
Like, if you look like you've never done this before,
and you.
You know, and we love our stunt doubles, but.
They got to get close-ups, too.
So I actually had to get up there on the pole.
So I trained four months before even getting the role
and then continued training throughout filming the season.
That's dedication.
I like that.
And then Snowfall, this has been such a wildly popular series
and celebrating hip-hop on the West Coast as well.
Did you grow up where, I mean, being from St. Louis,
you got to love Nelly, right?
I do love Nelly.
I'm from Atlanta.
I was born in St. Louis.
Okay, okay.
So Jermaine Dupri.
Oh, so, so.
OK.
OK, OK, good, yeah.
OK, now we got all the cities.
But do love Nelly.
You know, I got to shout out to all.
The beauty about the drop is we see the kickoff
and the rise of West Coast hip hop, but it's
Actually influenced by so many.
I love that what Wanda is doing. She finds different samples
She's like hey even throughout the show shout out to everybody
Rand 1500 shout out to Jason Martin who are behind the scenes
and really well-versed even Glasses Malone in the music industry
So they are knowing like what songs
to layer what songs will go with the actual
See, you're watching the storyline?
Malcolm Spellman, our showrunner, is like,
he will brag and tell you how he is a Grammy Award winning man.
So he is thinking and writing and...
I'm pretty certain he's hearing tunes.
Our director, Alonzo Alvarez,
he literally tells me when he is blocking out a scene in
the episode, he has like a playlist that he puts to it.
Okay, I like that.
So yeah, I kind of was well-versed with music from all over.
Well, congratulations one more time.
Gail Beam, thank you so much for your time.
You're rocking it.
Doing everything.
Not one, two series at the same time.
So make sure you check out The Drop, a snowfall saga that's on FX.
And then, of course, on Starz, P-Valley, starring as Roulette.
How you like that?
I like that.
All right.
Come back any time.
You know where to find us.
Absolutely.
Continue to success.
All right, Gail.
We'll see you in a bit.
But still ahead, we're celebrating the fashion icon,
Kenny Cash.
Yes.
Yeah.
He's going to be working on a new collab
with an iconic brand with a bit of a throwback feel, Crystal.
That's right.
He's teaming up.
He's teaming up with FUBU, that was team and FUBU,
all in one word, and he's going to
show off some fashions when Good Night
New York returns to keep it right here.
All right, Kenny Cass, he is a celebrated fashion icon
with 36 years in the world of fashion.
As a chief creative officer
and creative director of Kenny Cass Clothing,
he's built an empire and defined a vision
of craftsmanship and innovation,
and he continues to do so even tonight on Good Night, New York.
Yes, so tonight his brand is collaborating
with the iconic brand made popular in the 1990s.
I'm talking about FUBU, for us, by us,
here to tell us and you more about it.
We are welcoming Kenny Cass to Good Night, New York.
Welcome, sir. Welcome, welcome, welcome.
That was amazing.
All right.
I like that.
I like that.
I like that.
Can we stop over here?
Run it back.
Kenny Cass, the legend, the icon.
You know we love him.
But, hey, man, this is so cool.
It is.
First of all,
let's talk about your fit tonight because you're looking so good.
I know you look good.
So I have on Kenny Cass denim.
But this is the FUBU collaboration jacket that I created along with.
Hold on.
Let me feel you.
Please.
It's got the NYC on there, too.
Wait, and do the sleeves zip off?
The sleeves come off.
So it could be a vest or a jacket.
So it could be a vest.
For sure.
Yeah, and then the new ones that are coming in before Christmas,
it has all of our signatures inside of it in the lining.
Aw, that's nice.
So it's an art piece as well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I love them, man.
They've been a huge...
People in my life that has, you know,
helped me along the way and motivated me.
And, you know, we all we all need those people in our lives
as we go across, you know, as our years start to go through.
So it was fun, man. I loved it. They loved it.
OK, good. And that's the main thing.
Your collection drops around Black Friday.
Correct. OK.
So it's called Welcome Black.
I wasn't innovative anymore because I was doing custom
and everybody wanted the same thing.
Okay.
So God was like, step back.
Yes.
I took some time out for a while.
And I just came up with all this black collection with a tint of brown,
polka dots, stuff like that.
Did you actually see the night?
Okay, I like it.
It was really good.
Let's check it out.
Let's bring out our first model here.
Let's bring them out.
And Kenny's going to break down these looks.
So, again, these are all designs that you crafted.
This one is super cool.
Yes, this is all I crafted.
So, this is made out of scuba material.
So it's an innovation of a denim look,
which I have on, but it's scuba.
That is my bag and my beanie.
Okay.
And you can catch all of this on the website.
But this is for somebody who...
May not work in a workforce
that requires them to be totally dressed up,
but they're still fashion forward.
You see the buttons on the bottom?
It's very cool.
Black buttons.
So he's looking really good, man.
Where are you going?
Come back.
Crystal wants to look anymore.
I know.
Where are you going?
I'm not done staring.
She's drooling.
Come on, keep your chin up.
Boots.
But he looks really great, man, and I'm happy to see him in it.
He looks great, man.
Can we get Crystal next to him just because of the colors?
Okay, wait, hold on.
I'm totally into it.
Come on, look at this.
I'm totally into it.
There you go.
Hold on, wait, wait, wait.
Let's turn right here.
OK.
Oh, yes.
Yo, you single?
Yes.
But you don't have to be vocal.
You say that she's single.
Oh, hey, I didn't say it.
Somebody else with a mic said it.
I don't know.
You look awesome.
All right, very nice, sir.
Thank you.
Let's bring out our next model here.
This is another look.
And there's men's and women's, which is cool.
Correct.
Yes, we like that.
We like that.
And this look right here is one of my favorites.
It's the polka dot.
It's New York. It's D.C. It's London.
With the socks, you have the Kenny Kaz bag.
What I did, a collaboration with Overnight Bags,
and we came up with that. The signature rope belt,
the Kenny Kaz hats, and those are also our frames.
That you'll also be able to get online.
But this is attitude.
You've got to be able to understand yourself.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can't put this on.
And where you're going.
Hey, I say walk to the train.
You know?
You look awesome.
And Malia is actually our office manager.
Wow.
There you go.
And one of our signature models.
And she does the social media for the company.
Oh, she does it all.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She's everything.
And she's beautiful.
And show them the gloves, too.
I have one-finger leather gloves.
Oh, yes.
Those are cool.
Those are super cool.
Just something different.
And the duffel bag actually has a charger.
If you see the USB.
Oh, functional.
And you can charge it.
We call that form and function.
There you go.
But yeah, just covering all of that.
Let me see the bag real quick.
I just want to investigate just to make sure.
Thank you so much.
We're just going to keep it right over here,
you know, just for research purposes.
But she looks so good without it in here.
You look so good.
Right.
You don't need the bag.
You don't even need it.
Let's bring out our next model here.
Thank you.
We have yet another lovely model here.
Kenny, break it down for us.
So this is where we do the twist.
Oh.
So we have a patent leather jacket with the hood.
Okay.
And as you see, she's wearing it over top.
of a suit, underneath the suit.
So that suit jacket, you can unzip and it become prop.
Then you see the signature safety pin,
so it's two part to it on the bottom.
So this is also too, for people who are tall,
and still stylish, you know what I mean?
How much time goes into designing this jacket?
Man, don't even get me started.
These weeks.
It depends, because I'm inspired by people walking in the street.
I'm inspired by building structures and stuff like that.
Everything.
Yeah, because look at the safety pins.
We have the safety pins here,
and then you can see I have the zipper of the jacket and
the patent leather hoodie and stuff like that,
and then that's my handbag, which is unisex.
It's a handbag, cross-shoulder, carry-in.
And then we got some, like, glittery on the hood.
What's going on there?
Well, it's patent leather.
Oh, patent leather.
I'm sorry.
Okay, okay.
So it's just a patent leather.
It's just the way the light's hidden.
Yeah, and the light's hidden.
You see what I mean?
So even if she goes out
and she doesn't want to wear the actual jacket, she has the jacket.
You know what I mean?
So it's a lot of good looks, man.
It is a lot of good looks.
Beautiful.
A lot of convertible looks, too.
Absolutely.
Okay, great.
And then she can take those hooks off of the pants
and they'll become shorts.
Thank you so much.
We'll have a last model, right?
All right, we have another model.
All right, bring him on out.
This dude is looking dapper right here.
And this guy is not to be played with.
I know.
As we can tell.
As we can tell.
Look at this.
Look at not to be played with.
So he's wearing a khaki poncho with a hood.
We have wide leg pants, double-breasted suit,
with actual wood buttons, and we lacquered
the wood buttons and everything,
and he's looking so dapper, so ready to go.
100%.
100%.
And it's just those little details that can elevate the outfit.
It's small details, like you don't have to go overboard.
Yeah.
You can keep it simple and just let the outfit speak for yourself.
You certainly have right here.
Wow.
Kenny Cass, these are amazing looks.
Thank you so much, sir.
Thank you.
We're going to take one more look at all of our models.
And again, we got this FUBU collab dropping on Black Friday, correct?
On Black Friday, it's dropping.
We're only doing 50.
Okay.
So it's exclusive.
Once it's gone, it's gone.
Okay.
And you're getting the ones with our signatures inside of it.
Okay, good.
So if somebody tried to copy this in their signatures.
The early bird.
The early.
I had all my stuff with me.
I was good.
I had my stuff.
I had my son.
I had my baby.
I had my joy.
I had some little piece of peace.
It was small and chaotic, but I had it.
It was on me.
And I had a place on earth.
And I had a name.
And I had a smile, a real smile that was
on me when they brought my ass up in here.
And I had my stuff.
Our next guest, she gave a thrilling performance in Ain't No More
when it was on Broadway.
It earned her a Tony Award nomination, so well deserved.
And now she's starring in a new show that opens on Monday.
And I didn't think there was enough room for two crystals
in the studio, but apparently there is tonight.
Here we are.
This brand new show is called In the Ripple,
The Wave That Carried Me Home.
It's a piercing, theatrically vivid story all about the personal toll
of fighting for justice and the ultimate challenge of forgiveness.
We welcome Crystal Lucas Perry to Good Night, New York.
Welcome.
Crystal
Of course, of course.
All right, now we have to let Crystal talk about Ain't No More
because she saw it, she loved it.
I did.
And she's got to talk to you about it.
I did.
Okay, so Ain't No More, if you don't know,
it was controversial, but it was great.
It was a play on Broadway,
but it was a very deep subject matter
that a lot of people felt uncomfortable.
It was all about black people,
their place in America and slavery and going home.
And your scene was so powerful
that it was one of the things
things that so many people
Remembered from that so I just want to congratulate you
for such a great role. Well, thank you so much
It was such an honor to take on all six of those characters. But yes
Ending my track with blue is you know, something
that I will always be fond of it's such an incredible experience
And just to be able to tell that story in New York. Yeah
Where it needed to be told and absolutely
Gone too soon, but, you know.
There's always revivals, always revivals.
Hey, hey.
Just put it out there.
Any producers watching that actually know what's up.
Cool, but now you're taking on the role of Helen in The Ripple.
Tell us a little bit about Helen and...
How cool is it to play her?
Oh, it's such a blast.
So very different from Ain't No Mo, but Helen has a quiet strength.
She is determined.
She is dedicated.
She has spent her entire life trying to,
you know, make change within her community.
And she has this incredible family that she is,
you know, holding together.
And I get to take on her journey, both,
you know, past and present with my incredible
cast at Playwrights.
And this is something that I often think about.
What we decide to pass on or what we hope
to pass on to the next generation isn't always
what gets received, right?
So we get to actually see what happens there in that exchange
and Helen gets to, you know,
Navigate that in real time.
So let's talk about what it's really about.
So it's 1960s Kansas, right?
And it's integrating public swimming pools.
Yes.
And I have to say that black people have
an interesting relationship with swimming and water, right?
Just in general.
Absolutely.
What drew you to the character?
Well, listen, I love, I love Helen's complexity. I love the fact that,
you know, she's, she's trying to do something that, you know,
is that literally close to her heart, literally a part of her,
a part of her heritage that, you know, with her family.
But at the heart, she's trying to give something back.
She's trying to make something change.
And I can, of course, connect to that.
You know, and I think about, you know, something.
When it comes to segregation, we often think about schools and buses,
and those are obviously important pieces of that fight.
But we forget about the things that bring us joy.
We forget about the things that actually allow us to be free,
and water is one of those things, right?
So to be able to step into her story and...
Connected to something that she wants to gift.
That brings power and peace.
And something that she's trying to pass down to her daughter.
That's an exciting journey I get to go on.
That's a beautiful thing.
Crystal and Lucas Perry, we appreciate
your time here on Good Night New York.
Keep shining on stage here in the city.
And of course, check out The Ripple.
In The Ripple, the wave that carried me home.
Thank you.
No doubt we're going to wrap up Good Night New York when we return.
Crystal, that was a hot show tonight, but wait till tomorrow.
Oh, my God.
It's going to sizzle even more.
All right.
That's going to do it for me.
That's it.
I'm Ryan Christopher.
And I'm Crystal Young.
Bye, guys.
Make it a good night, New York.
Good night, New York.
Break it down.
Break it down.
