Georgia, this win is for all of us.
A historic win in Georgia.
The first black woman elected governor in the U.S.
Part of a midterm election that repainted America blue.
Georgia Democrats also flipping the statehouse
and winning the lieutenant governor's race.
We've had a culture of acquiescence to Trump's chaos
and ignoring the suffering and critical needs of Georgians
during this period of Republican rule, and voters said, enough.
75% of Americans now live in a state with a Democratic governor.
53% live in states where Democrats control the governorship,
House, and Senate, a so-called trifecta.
These are, you know,
really big shifts in American politics and in state politics.
And states like Wisconsin, where Democrats have just gained
that total control, could see the biggest policy shifts.
I think there are going to be initiatives to raise
the minimum wage in Wisconsin, to join the Medicaid expansion.
Probably to protect abortion rights.
Thank you, Wisconsin!
Wisconsin's governor-elect committed
to pushing through a progressive agenda.
We're going to lower costs for housing,
utilities, health care, and child care.
We're going to deliver real, meaningful property tax relief
that doesn't place the burden on our local communities.
But in at least one traditionally Republican state,
a sign that its new Democratic governor
is willing to work across party lines.
I'm just about delivering for people.
This is not about being a Democratic administration.
I'm not going to be the governor for just Democrats.
More control of state offices means Democrats will
also be able to take control of redistricting in some places.
That could make it harder for Republicans
to win in future elections, too.
This week's blue wave potentially impacting
U.S. politics for years to come.
