Build a custom welding cart by repurposing an old toolbox. This project creates a functional workspace for your shop gear. Part 1 Shapr3d Software Into: https://youtu.be/_XllG1oRLu4
I am taking an existing toolbox and modifying it to serve as a mobile welding cart. This build is designed for anyone looking to organize their welding equipment, clamps, and various fixture tools into a single, accessible unit. By repurposing items you already have, you can improve your shop efficiency without buying expensive pre-made storage solutions.
This process shows how to adapt a metal toolbox into a heavy-duty cart that holds your welder securely while keeping essential tools within reach. You will see the assembly steps required to reinforce the base and create a stable platform for your welding setup. Once finished, this unit will streamline your workflow by keeping everything you need for fabrication in one spot.

Well, it is coming together.
So not 100% done, but let me kind of talk through my plan here.
I ended up finding this toolbox and it had an awesome top on it.
And I was like, man, that'd make a great little welding cart
because then what I can do is
take like clamps, you know,
all the fixture stuff that comes with the Harbor Freight mount
here, you know, just all kinds
of different stuff you can think of for welding.
And then what else do I got in here?
Here, some clamps.
grinder actually on those this is pretty rad i got
these i'm going to mount these under this
overhang on the back here like here i'm going to take
and get those out of the box hang four of
those right there easy access i'll be able to gain a drawer back
so super pumped about that as well
what else do i got here some other take advantage
of storage looks like i got some grinding wheels
Ooh, I got open drawers.
Love that. Way cool. So here's the other part of this.
If you hadn't seen a previous video,
I've assembled this welding cart.
This is from Harbor Freight too. It's called the Vulcan.
This thing is badass. I mean, it's a cool cart for all consumables.
And then even inside of here,
if you hadn't seen that video, the storage,
it's got a big drawer for your helmet. If you want,
I got a bunch of TIG stuff down there,
but the, uh, holds your rod and your bottle.
This is a neat setup, but what you notice
on the ground is you can see the legs
and then the bottom shelf for what comes with this.
Welding jig table if you will. Man this is such a great height.
I'm already excited that I'm hardly
going to be bent over at all.
This is a fantastic height but okay what I'm doing with the bottom
half why I wanted to take advantage
and this is made this way from Harbor Freight. This is meant
to be a benchtop if that's what you want.
Like I said I just wanted to put these protectors if you
will on the feet. I thought it's kind of cool.
Seems like it's working out well but I'm going to take
The rest of those pieces you can see I already
bought big casters because that's what the
thread bolt size was on there.
I'm going to take those okay and then check this out. I bought
just a bunch of flat strap and what I'm going
to do is I'm going to turn that into a plasma cutting
table. I'm going to take and put a bunch of bars going across that top.
I'm just going to actually
Actually, I'm going to keep the bottom shelf.
Put some mesh or something in there for kind
of be like a catch-all if you will and then I'm
going to take just some angle iron and make a new top piece
and then I'm going to stack a bunch of
these bars like this if you will to then make plasma table
because I got a new plasma cutter
that I got try out from BestArc.
So pretty excited to kind of wrap this up. It's been a long time in
the coming but that's what the plan is.
So I'm going to keep going here in the next video. I'm
I'm going to start now that I got.
my pieces that's what i was really trying
to do i was trying to like get that stuff
get this part done so i can jump onto the plasma table
and here's something else to you know kind
of think about too let's say i want this worktop just
a nice steel worktop because that's what i
needed i can grab this it's so lightweight
and just set it over in the corner and now i get the
whole working surface the other thing i think i'm going
to be able to do i just don't know that's
That's really going to be needed.
I could take.
And like,
Move this to a couple different edges,
like let's say like this and this, and then I could use some
big, where do I get some bar clamps like this or something,
and kind of clamp it down if I wanted
it a little more sturdy. But then what I noticed is this,
whoever made this tool cart, it already
has these threaded bolt holes in here,
and so I'm going, I could just take a couple of those,
hopefully they line up. If I get two of them that line up.
I've got two that line up.
Man, if I really wanted to, I could bolt this thing in place
if I needed some really ultra, you know, precision to, you know,
to not risk, like, bumping it.
So, geez, what a find this table was.
Pretty cool.
All right, my friends, let's call this video a wrap.
Like I said, I wanted to try out that software, super rad,
from Shaper3D, and then take advantage of getting a project done.
So if you want to tune in, make sure and like, share, and subscribe.
The next video I expect will probably pop up will
be the making of the plasma cutting cart from the remnants.
Cool.
All right, my friends, as always, like, share, and subscribe.
Make it a great day, and keep wrenching.
Hey friends, real quick, if you didn't see
the related video to this, it's me showing
you how I'm learning Shaper 3D, it's an awesome software,
it is so mind-blowingly fast how
you can create from, where it's intuitive,
and it just allows you to bam, bam, bam, and
do a lot of, in my world, simple things
that I want to 3D print, it just makes it crazy
fast, and then the capability to get more complex,
and join bodies, and do some really
rad stuff in the future, I'm super excited about too,
but anyway, I'll have that link below
If you're into that kind of thing, it's pretty cool,
but I'm going to be making a ton of 3D
parts and tools for my shop. So cool. Check it out.
I'll have links in the description for you
to check out their free trial version.
And if you really dig it, purchase the pro one. Special
shout out to Shaper3D for making a really cool,
useful, and awesome product. Way to go.
