What's going on everybody, this is Island Hopper TV coming to you
with the best things to do in Krabi, Thailand. Let's do it!
That's right everybody coming to you from southern Thailand.
This here is Krabi province. We're going
to show you the best. Let's go.
Starting out here in Ao Nang. Now Ao Nang is the main city
village area most of you will be staying.
This is where many of the hotels, restaurants, nightlife,
and just the walking convenience.
They also have markets and other things in Ao Nang.
But this is where most of you will probably be staying.
I personally stayed at the Holiday Inn.
They have many different accommodations.
I've also stayed at the Ibis here,
and then they have some chain boutique, villas, and cottages.
Either way, this is where most of you will begin, and you can get
a long-tail boat here, which we'll show you in a little bit.
But here you also have the nightlife, and I highlight this because
after a long day island hopping and exploring around Krabi,
it's really nice to go out for a bite to eat,
and then just have a very lively...
Nighttime atmosphere like they have here in Ao Nang.
So many different restaurants of different cuisines.
I really love Ao Nang.
Alright guys, we're here at the Hong Island.
This is the lagoon, but this whole area around here has really got
a lot of action. Hong Island.
This whole area is Phang Nga Bay or the Andaman Sea
and around here you're going to find so many
different islands that you can island hop to.
This one's a little bit further from Ao Nang
but you can get here by private boat on a long tail.
You can also go on a group tour on a speed
boat or maybe even a long tail boat.
It just depends on your budget. I personally came out
on a private tour.
It cost around 2500 baht for six hours and you have the
convenience and flexibility to go around where you want to go.
but the lagoon here is amazing this is my favorite part
of Hong Island it's kind of like
Pile Bay in Maya Bay on the Phi Phi Islands now here you
also have a beach it does get a bit crowded
here and sometimes it can be overwhelming with so much crowds
but if you get an early or late
afternoon tour a private boat tour coming
out here you won't have as much crowds it
seems like they show up around like 10 in the morning
and stay pretty solid until about two
They also have viewpoints here at this beach.
But then you can also go over to another island called Koh La Ding.
And if you come here in off-season, it won't be crowded.
You come here during peak season or high season,
which is from December until about May,
yeah, it's going to be crowded.
But usually on a private boat tour like this,
you're going to get Koh La Ding, which you're seeing right here.
You'll get Hong Island.
And then you'll get options to go to some other ones.
You could even go to the...
Koh Yao Yai or Koh Yao Noi islands nearby,
those have also become very famous here recently.
There's so many different islands in the Phang Nga and Andaman Sea area
which I've explored and there's so many more to explore.
Well here we are at the Klong Ruat Canal.
This is where they filmed Jurassic World. Well we're back
on the mainland here at Klong Ruat
and you can see this is like a canal. It's fresh water that's kind
of mixed with the brackish salt water
and this is just more of a laid-back environment and people
like to kayak around here.
They go swimming in this water and just the beautiful limestone
cliffs that tower all around Krabi is so special
and people who swim here they feel refreshed.
Because it's not that salt water.
When you get out of salt water, you feel a little bit dry.
With this, you're not going to feel that.
Now we're going to do another adventure.
This one here is the long-tail boat that takes you out to Railay Bay.
You can go here from Ao Nang.
It takes about 7 to 10 minutes.
You want to check and make sure that the ocean
is not too rough when you go out there.
I mean, I've seen it happen where it's really hard to come
and go when the seas are high.
And you're on a wooden boat like this.
Most of the time, it's okay.
Okay, but if it's choppy,
maybe you would consider going out at that time
but any day you get blue skies you're going to
want to go to Railay Beach and explore around.
I mean they've got lots going on here they have
several hotels as well if you wanted to stay here.
I usually just come in from Ao Nang and do a day
walking around here they've got lots
of different monkeys they've got gibbons and they've got the
regular macaques but out here you know Railay Beach one
of the most famous beaches in the world
And actually on the other side is another beach that you can explore.
They've got a princess cave out here and several other caves.
But really a cool place to hang out.
They've also got a walking street,
which is a great opportunity to try fresh seafood
from right here in the Andaman Sea,
including tiger prawns, lobsters, you name it,
sea bass, red snapper, whatever comes out of the ocean there,
they can cook it for you on a grill here along the walking street.
Lots of Rasta bars and just little cafe, tiki huts.
really a chilled laid-back vibe
but like i said if you wanted to stay out here they have some high
end hotels and stuff for those of you with the deeper pockets
and there is a look at one of
those gibbons again not a macaque but still a little feisty
but now we're actually gonna head
over there even though it started raining
when i was here over to Phra Nang Cave or Phra Nang Beach
Now, this is a great place to swim,
but also people come here for rock climbing.
It's world famous for rock climbing here in Krabi,
in particular around the Railay Beach area.
They have several different cliffs that people can climb up.
They also have people who specialize in rock climbing
if you wanted to come here and try it.
One pro tip before you come, ask them when the high tide
or the low tide is because you want to know.
If it's low tide, you can actually walk out to that island.
It's going to be like a sandbar.
If it's high tide, it's perfect conditions for swimming.
So depending on what you want,
if you want to come here and swim, you want high tide.
If you want to walk out to those islands
and just have easy accessibility to the whole area,
you want low tide. I personally prefer the high tide.
This is a high tide sunset.
Now we're here at the Tiger Cave Temple.
They just built this new temple.
You can also go up to the top there.
Yeah, so they do have the Tiger Cave, which is in the mountain,
but also it's the hike to go up there.
I actually didn't go up there.
It was so hot on the day that I was here.
I mean, I would not have gone up at 2 o'clock in the afternoon
when the temperature was as hot as it was.
That's one of the good things about Krabi being
a water world playground for us is
You know, on a hot day, you could get
in that Andaman Sea and feel great,
but if you're out there walking around the jungle
at two in the afternoon on a sunny hot day,
that sun is scorching hot. I cannot stress that enough.
Here in Krabi they have geothermal hot springs that you can swim in.
Yeah the hot springs are interesting
because as it does get hot in Krabi it also can rain
and you know on a rainy day you getting
in the hot springs that's perfect. So on a rainy day I
recommend coming out here to the hot springs.
On a sunny day you want to be out there on the
water doing the island hopping right.
This is just an activity that I would do on a rainy
day when it's a hot hot day. I don't know
if I necessarily want to go into a hot spring.
I would much rather be taking advantage
of the opportunity to do some island hopping
while the water is calm and the skies are blue
and just check around the Phi Phi Islands.
As you can see, the Phi Phi Islands are spectacular.
You can even stay out here if you want.
They are in the province of Krabi,
basically in between Krabi and Phuket.
It could go either way, depending on what you want to do.
It takes about an hour to an hour
and a half to get out here by speedboat.
I wouldn't dare take a long tail boat to get out here
because it would probably take twice
Twice the amount of time.
Especially on a high seas swells day,
you know, it wouldn't be a good experience.
Most of you will stay on Koh Phi Phi Don
That's the other island from Maya Bay, but on here they have a village
and they also have viewpoints as you can see
I hiked up to this viewpoint. They have several viewpoints in this area
I think there's viewpoint one two three and four.
It just depends on how high up you want to go
But when I stayed out here in Phi Phi Islands,
I stayed on the other side from the village
So the only way to get to the village
was to hike over the mountain, through the jungle,
or to take a long-tail boat over there.
I hiked it once and enjoyed the viewpoint,
that was enough for me.
From there on out I just took the five to seven minute ride across
the island on the long-tail boat.
But there's other activities to do once you're out in the
In the Phi Phi Islands,
aside from Maya Bay and walking around Koh Phi Phi Don's Village,
You can also go to Monkey Beach, which is on Koh Phi Phi Don.
It's just it takes a long-tail boat to get there.
Now, the thing with the monkeys,
a lot of tourists think they're so cute and so friendly,
but really, I avoid getting too close to monkeys.
I'll look at them, take pictures from a distance,
but I don't want to get too close,
and I definitely don't want to make eye contact or provoke them.
Now, let me tell you what the problem is with the monkeys,
is if they scratch you or bite you,
they can carry bacteria or viruses.
Like rabies, okay?
And you don't want your trip to be ruined
because you got so close to a monkey
that he clawed you or bit you.
So from Koh Phi Phi Don, we're headed to Koh Phi Phi Leh.
This is where Pile Lagoon is.
Now, this one is just absolutely spectacular.
The only thing I've ever seen come close to this was in Krabi
or El Nido in Philippines.
There's nothing else quite like this lagoon here.
And you could swim here.
But also the one in Hong Island is nice.
You can't swim there.
This one you can.
And it's famous because you'll see many
different Instagram videos over the years.
Where people are arriving into this just aquamarine paradise.
And on the other side of Koh Phi Phi Leh is going to be Maya Bay.
And Maya Bay is the one that had Leonardo DiCaprio and the beach.
And everyone wants to go here.
Although they've been closing it periodically.
Sometimes they'll close it for two or three months.
Sometimes they'll close it for six months.
And then you'll come back and there'll
be a bunch of reef sharks swimming around here.
I've even snorkeled off the shore of the beach.
I didn't see any reef sharks or any sharks in general.
But I do know that there are videos
on social media where you'll see little reef sharks
swimming around right there where people would
normally swim especially as they've let the
biodiversity kind of come back.
I would say the earlier the better you could get to Maya Bay
because it could get really crowded here.
This is a one that I would try to get a private tour from
the village on Koh Phi Phi Don just so you can beat the crowds.
Now we're here at the Four Island Tour.
So this one is another island hopping adventure that you can do.
You go to Koh Poda, you go to Chicken Island,
and you just get to see all around, like Tub Island.
You also go to Prang Nok Cave
and the beach area there on a long-tail boat.
Now, you can do this as a private tour or as a group.
But again, for me, the price of a long-tail boat for $50 to $60,
for me and my friends, is just better, okay?
That's just the way I do it.
And if you're someone who wants to be in Krabi without all the crowds,
people go down to Koh Lanta.
They have some other islands down here.
I'm actually narrating this right now from Koh Lanta,
where I've been for a week because I absolutely love Koh Lanta.
But there are other places around Krabi that you can go
that are part of the province like Koh Yao Yai, Koh Yao Noi.
And then there's even places south of Krabi town.
There's other islands you can go to.
But Koh Lanta is cool.
They also have Koh Lanta Noi.
I mean it's just a laid back spot mostly known for its sunsets.
They also have an old town
area here it's like a historical place
but Koh Lanta is probably about an hour
Ferry ride away from Ao Nang, and it's a two-hour drive from Ao Nang,
for anyone keeping score at home.
But if you wanted to stay in Krabi and kind of get
a more affordable experience, you could stay in Krabi Town.
Now, this is nowhere near as touristic as Ao Nang.
In fact, I consider this to be more of a locals kind of place,
but some people stay here
because they want the convenience of Krabi without the tourists.
All right, guys, I hope you guys enjoy your trip
to Krabi, and if you're coming down here,
