In this video I show the simplest way I know to hand off the tedious parts of video editing to AI. No custom scripts or infrastructure, just an off-the-shelf Premiere Pro extension called AutoCut that you can set up in a few minutes. I take a raw 7-minute talking head clip and use a three-step AI process to remove silences, cut bad takes, and add auto zoom punch-ins. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds of processing and gets the clip down to under 3 minutes. I am not sponsored by AutoCut, I just use it personally and it saves me hours every week. If you still edit talking head footage by hand, this one will change your workflow. Let me know in the comments what AI editing tools you are using.

I do NOT sell any products of my own. Watch out for scams.
This video I want to walk through one
of the simplest ways to take a lot of the manual parts
of editing off of your hands with AI.
Now in other videos on this channel,
we've covered some of the more advanced kind
of custom scaffolding custom.
infrastructure ways to do that in this video i just want
to walk through one of the most simple
off the shelf do the manual splicing remove
silences remove bad takes kind of all of that
layer of work using an off the shelf solution
that you can set up in a few minutes i am not sponsored
or endorsed by the tool that i'm going
to show you it is really easy i use it personally
And if you don't use AI for editing, I promise you,
it is such a world of difference that
will save you a ton of time.
And so I want to show you this by just going ahead
and doing it on a sample clip.
So this is a talking head video.
This is, what is it, 10 minutes to 17,
so about seven minutes long of me talking.
And this should be about
a three minute clip after I finished editing on it, once you remove
the silences and the bad takes.
motion graphics captions all of that we've covered
in depth in a lot of other videos
and we will touch on that here too
but i want to focus on the first part of that process and doing
that completely with ai so i have the audio track
as well i'm going to go ahead and sync those to
start off so let's go ahead right click we'll click
on synchronize audio track channel one
that'll process now we have synced up our mic audio
with our video file i'm going to go ahead
Unlink the video footage,
relink the video now with the synchronized mic file, and now
we're good to get started.
We have our base clip here, and you can already see here,
right, a lot of these gaps are just
silences.
So I'm going to go ahead,
I'm going to set in and out points on this main track, and
then the tool that we're going to use is called AutoCut.
You can install that just by searching AutoCut and downloading it,
and then right here under
Extensions and Window in Premiere Pro,
I'm going to go ahead and select AutoCut.
Now, there are a ton of tools here.
We're going to have a three step process here.
The first one is going to be removing silences with AI.
I'm going to click silences and select in and out points right here.
So it's just the clip in this segment of the track.
We're going to go ahead and make that audio layer
to reflect where this audio clip is.
And I'll go ahead and click.
Validate. Now the noise threshold should
be set automatically by AI, so I just turn that on.
You can go ahead and mess with the millisecond kind
of duration here to just determine how
quick the cuts are. I'd say just play around
with that yourself and then we'll go ahead
and hit cut and delete. Before we do that let's hear
a quick word from the sponsor of today's
video. Now before we keep going I want to tell you about
the sponsor of today's video and that's a
Is the company working on a problem?
problem that got a lot bigger once this wave of legalization happened.
And that problem is how
do you test for recent drug use?
Like you have breathalyzers for alcohol, but for this, that
doesn't really exist despite legality in about 38 states.
And so currently the main tests can pick
up THC only days, weeks, or months after it's been taken.
But for employers, for transportation
...companies for law enforcement. The last few hours is...
What matters and what you need those tests for,
not something that gives you information
about a few months ago.
And that is where the sponsor of this segment comes in,
Cannabix Technologies, ticker symbols
BLO on the CSE and BLOZF on the OTC.
Now, Canabix has built a breath test
that focuses on recent use, so about four hours
of consumption.
And so all you do is you breathe
into their handheld breath collection unit, a BCU, and
the cartridge goes to...
Mega Laboratories, an accredited forensics lab
and they analyzed it in the lab with this technique
called mass spectrometry
and so the breath test launched commercially earlier this year but the
even bigger news is what happened just recently where Canabix went
from detecting one drug to
five and so they just officially completed
their first delivery of a multi-drug breath panel.
It's modeled after the Department
of Transportation's federally mandated drug test and they're
And they're exploring the same path.
So if we zoom out, you have real products that are shipping.
You have a lab partner to run the test.
I didn't mention their patent portfolio, but that is growing.
And you have a market where employers,
regulators, and police all need this solution.
And Canabix is still a very small company,
very early in commercialization, with about a $35 million...
Now, of course, early stage means risk adoption could take time
and nothing is guaranteed.
You should always do your own research, do your own diligence
on investments to see if they're potentially a fit.
So if you want to dig into that diligence on Canabix Technologies,
again, that is ticker BLO on the CSE and BLOZF on the over the counter markets.
And we'll also leave their investor presentation in the description.
They're really cool technology.
Big thanks to Canabix for sponsoring this segment of the video.
Okay so we're back. Let's go ahead and click cut
and delete silences and then we'll be able to see
AutoCut actually work in the timeline here
and make all of those cuts for us. That would have
taken manually you know 10, 15, 20 plus minutes right there to do.
So if we jump back into AutoCut
we can see the silences are finished.
So now if we jump into the video you can see here
of those silences, those pauses are gone.
Now, step two with AI,
what we're going to do is go to the left here
and go to auto cut.
And so what this is gonna do is remove basically bad takes.
Very useful tool, speaking from a lot of personal time
spent doing that manually.
So we'll jump over here again,
we'll click in and out points.
We'll select audio track two.
So let's validate, we'll select English,
and then we're going to wait for the audio to
transcribe because this is going
to be based on transcript of the video.
So let's give it a second.
With that, that's done.
Now it's gonna use AI to detect
what is actually a bad take.
And what's really useful about this system specifically
is it doesn't need an exact retake, right?
It is going to, because it's using AI,
kind of intelligently say, this was said twice,
we should delete the first one.
And you can see that right here.
For example, this line was,
you should always do diligence before you invest.
You should always do your own research.
And so those are not the same lines,
but because it's doing this with some kind of model
on the back end that's intelligent, it can go ahead and find that.
So this looks really good to me.
This is, again, a third,
a half of the video overall that we're going to remove.
take here so we'll just click cut sequence
and then we can see on the timeline all of those
that we removed. So our seven minute track just became
a let's see about a two and a half
minute to three minute track and that took about 30 seconds total.
That is why I always say,
you absolutely should be using AI for editing. It doesn't have to do
everything, but it can remove some of these more laborious,
more menial parts of the process.
And then we get into the additions, right?
That's just kind of the base track.
Something else I like to do if you want
to is auto zoom. That's going to add
add punches. Let's go ahead and do that quickly.
Let's set our in and out points.
Validate, let AI determine where it should add kind
of zooms on the talking head footage.
You can play around with these settings.
Click Apply Zoom.
And while this is working again,
then we can start thinking about additions.
What kind of motion graphics, B-roll, captions,
subtitles do we want on top of the video?
And you can also do all of that, if you want to, with AI.
We can see that finished in 26 seconds.
We jumped into the timeline.
This adjustment track was added.
With all of the zooms, so now you can see there,
this is really fast, but all of those zooms have
So like I was saying, if we jump back here,
there are a lot of tools within AutoCut that
can do that.
There's AutoCaptions, which is really good,
and they do have your more advanced motion
graphics style captions.
What this tool does not have are motion graphics,
and there's other videos on this channel where
I cover how to do motion graphics now with AI.
Chatcut is a really good solution there.
Also Higgsfield and then Claude are kind of my top three tools.
To create motion graphics with so we'll link some kind
of videos around here if you want to check those out.
But overall, that's what I wanted to get across in this video of using
this sequence of tools to prep that kind of footage in your timeline.
And then there's a whole other world here.
We'll get into it once you're familiar.
That's the video. I hope you find it useful.
We have about 1000 other videos like this on the channel
if you want to check them out, but I appreciate you being here.
And I'll see you in the next one. Cheers
