Rahm wins Abu Dhabi Championship on DP World Tour return

The final round of the Abu Dhabi-Aldar Championship from Yas Links produced some wonderful drama and what a start it was from Rory McIlroy at the opening par four 370 yards of it, albeit slightly downwind McIlroy with an early statement of intent driving the green I agree. to the surprise of everyone. He two-putted that for birdie, he eagled a second as well, then he dropped a couple of shots and in fact I think that was the story of Sunday for Rory who is chasing down an eighth Race to Dubai title, came unstuck at the 15th, that was his title quest over and done with, he did finish solo third though to half the deficit on the Race to Dubai leader Eugenio Chacarra and McIlroy to second. He closed out with a round of 69. It was a bogey-free 68 from Tyrrell Hatton. He almost finished in wonderful style. This was a birdie putt at the 18th. so close but Hatton finishes second climbs from 55th to 12th on the Race to Dubai rankings and John Rahm who came into the final round on his debut in Abu Dhabi with a one-stroke lead played some beautiful golf he really did that was a nice birdie at the sixth went to the turn in two under par picked up shots at 11 12. and this the shot of the day maybe the shot of the year Rahm with a six iron into the 15th And he popped it to there. Hold the putt. Truly wonderful stuff from the Spaniard. A 10-time DP World Tour winner. He had three putts for it at last. To win for the 11th time. To win on debut. The Abu Dhabi Aldar champion. And a sixth Rolex Series title as well. First man to do that on the DP World Tour for John Rahm. Won it by two in the end. Climbs all the way from 51st to sixth. On the race to Dubai and takes the Falcon Trophy on debut.
