Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video introduces the Dreamscape arborescens hydrangea, a groundbreaking new cultivar debuting in 2027. It combines the vibrant pink colors typically found in macrophyllas with the hardiness of arborescens, featuring massive blooms and a long-lasting color transition as they age.
All right you guys, this is not a drill. I was able to get my hands on one of the brand new
dreamscape arborescens hydrangeas, so let's talk about it. If you guys follow plant news,
or should I say hydrangea news, this guy was released to the public in Cultivate 2026.
So it is brand new to the market coming next year, and it is really supposed to be kind of
a groundbreaking cultivar. So yes, I hear the mumbling in the background of this video,
oh yeah, another hydrangea. Okay, groundbreaking. Well, let's talk about it for a bit.
So first of all, you can see the color on this guy, which is largely a darker shade of pink
than was previously acquired on arborescens hydrangeas. The other thing that makes this
special is the bloom size. So this is kind of a baby plant right now, but eventually
these bloom heads are supposed to get up to 10 inches wide with that color. So basically you're
getting the color of macrophyllas without having to worry about having no blooms every year because
of a harsh winter. So really you're getting the best of both worlds. This guy also gets about four
to five feet tall, so you have a nice large impact in the garden, and it will really kind of
just be a really cool anchor. The other cool thing that I will point out is when the blooms age,
they are not supposed to go brown like a lot of the pinks. This bloom here came in while it was
shipped, and you can see that it's kind of a nice little blush color against the brand new quite
ruby color on the blooms there. So it'll make for a nice long-lasting effect in the garden. The one
thing that gives me a little bit of pause is the marketing photos did have this as being like an
extremely fiery ruby in the photos that they were using for promotions, but I have yet to see
that extremely vivid hot pink in the blooms that I've seen on here yet. So it might just be a
culture thing where it needs to get in the ground and established, but for now I'm not seeing those
really hot vivid pink blooms that I was hoping for. But I'm gonna hold off my judgment
until we have it in the ground a season or two to see where it goes from here. As for placements
in the garden, I'm going to be putting it over here in the shade garden. I'm going to be moving
my little lime punch to a sunnier location, and it's going to go right here where it will hopefully
be happy for the years to come. So there you have it, the 2027 Dreamscape hydrangea. I'm hoping that
we have some amazing blooms to show you in years to come, but until next time,
thank you for watching The Main Street Garden.
