I Restored a Damaged Painting She Inherited From Her Father
October 10, 2026 #EduardoArtRestorations #oilpaintingrestoration #artrestoration
This painting was more than just an artwork. It was inherited by its owner from her father after he passed away, making it a very meaningful piece for her and her family.
Unfortunately, after an accident, the painting fell and the canvas was punctured. When it arrived at my studio, it also had lifting paint, accumulated dirt and an aged varnish that was hiding much of its original color.
In this video, I bring together the complete restoration — from stabilizing the fragile paint layers and repairing the damaged canvas to cleaning, retouching, varnishing and restoring details of its beautiful frame.
The painting is by Belgian artist Dolf Van Roy (1858–1943).
