Roman Holiday (1953) follows Princess Ann, a young royal who becomes tired of her strict, highly controlled life and secretly escapes while visiting Rome. After falling asleep from exhaustion, she is found by Joe Bradley, an American journalist who initially doesn't realize who she is. Joe discovers her identity and sees an opportunity for a major story, but instead of exposing her immediately, he spends the day showing her around Rome. As they explore the city together, they gradually fall in love. However, Ann eventually has to return to her royal responsibilities, while Joe chooses not to publish the story and respects her privacy. Their brief romance becomes a bittersweet memory for both of them.
