This NEW Update Changes EVERYTHING For The Wild...
1 Video View·Sep 14, 2026
Quinn Hughes' agent has spoken out on what the plan is for Quinn Hughes, and this changes
everything for Bill Guerin and this Minnesota Wild team, as it is a lot more complicated
than it was previously reported to be, as now there is a major focus on what is going
to happen in this season.
We're going to be breaking it all down here in this video, going over JP Berry's comments,
as well as how the Wild can adapt and adjust to this update going forward, before we do
get into all of the news that we have here today, though, folks, be sure to drop a sub
if you haven't already on the channel.
We have a lot of stuff coming.
A lot of news is starting to trickle out from the NHL from this season, as the preseason
is only just around the corner, and a lot of stuff is going to be coming out, so if
you want to stay up to date with your daily Wild news, be sure to join the channel.
But, folks, I don't know where to start off with this one, because the latest update that
we have from Quinn Hughes is quite a scary one if we're looking at the performance of
this team, and really how it's all going to play out, and you see this here.
Agent JP Berry told Donny and Dolly that Quinn Hughes has not been pushed into an extension,
and he's content to make the season as it comes.
Minnesota can still lock him up before he hits UFA in 2027, but Berry's read is that
Hughes wants to feel for the group and how he fits in before committing long term, and
this now puts a very big kind of what if into the question, into the possibility of a Quinn
Hughes extension, which, you know, I say possibility because you never really know, but I'm still
leaning more towards, and heavily towards, he will sign, but the quote that JP Berry
had, this right here, is a very big one.
I think he wants to see how the team does and how he feels, and this may dictate where
the Wilds go to start the season, and, you know, how they really perform and change the
way they play for game one.
If this Wild team comes out here and starts off hot, you know, obviously a great sign.
We know the Wilds are capable of that, they've been doing it the past couple of years, that's
the big key.
There's a lot of questions now, though.
What if the Wilds start to struggle to begin the season, if they start out slow, is that
going to dictate what Quinn Hughes thinks?
Right away, I'm going to say no, I don't think that's the way that this is going to happen.
Obviously, the way that this is all worded, how all of this plays out, yes, it may seem
like that, but this is a much different scenario that it seems like Quinn Hughes just wants
to see if the team feels like last year, because from everything that we've seen him talk about,
the way that this team has spoken about Quinn Hughes, and the way that he's spoken about
the team, they like the way they play each other.
The big reason that Quinn Hughes said he came here was because of Bill Geary, because of,
and, you know, the reason he's played so well, because of Brock Baver, you know, obviously
things like that are all going to have a major factor, and that, to me, seems like the biggest
part of this idea from Dave Barry.
But also, I think that, you know, once again, this is a major decision for Quinn Hughes.
Is he going to sign long-term?
Well, tomorrow is the deadline for eight years, so that doesn't seem like it, nor has it for
the past couple of weeks and months, but with the schedule that we're looking at right now,
and how this Wild team has to really adjust to all of this coming up, you have a pretty
interesting schedule to start the season, because, you know, Nashville, you should win
Nashville, Boston should beat Nashville, Boston, Buffalo, you know, I may be a bit biased here
as well, but looking at the beginning schedule of the season, there should be quite a few
easier side games for the Wild, and I think that being able to start out hot is going
to give you a much better opportunity to go out and get Quinn Hughes earlier rather than
later, and I still don't know if that's going to be, you know, where things go, how things
are adjusted, if the team is going to make a continuous push for Quinn Hughes game by
game, and, you know, there's a lot of things that are going to fall out from this, and
we're going to get a lot more information over the coming days from, you know, hopefully
Bill Guerin, but a lot of other players as well, there's a major decision coming from
this team, and I think starting off early in a schedule like this really is going to
fall in favor for the Minnesota Wild, and of course, the season starts September 29th,
so, you know, looking at this, you're still going to get a few games prior to this, and,
you know, for the NHL, not necessarily the Wild, so I'm excited to see where things go,
but this is a bit of a nerve, kind of a nerve-wracking quote, and I want to know what you guys think
about this down below, and, you know, the big reason as well behind this quote, why
it's such a what-if one, is because when we look at the Central Division, it is the best
division in the NHL, and last season, we saw Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota all be fighting
all season long just about for, you know, territory, for, you know, space to get a better
position in the playoffs, and obviously, we saw how it played out, Minnesota versus Dallas,
a great series to start the playoffs, then Colorado, you know, you didn't really stand
much of a chance there, although they should have, had players been healthy, you know,
it could have been a different scenario, but right now, a lot of people, you know, a lot
of Devils fans, I guess, are still questioning all of this and putting this into, you know,
a big question mark for next season, but with all of this really getting put out there,
if you're John Hyatt, if you're Bill Guerin, you have to keep things simple, you still
have him this year, and I feel like when we look at some of the key insights for Quinn
Hughes, when he was, you know, on this team last year, for the little bit that he was,
most time on ice, most power play time, you know, he'll shoot from anywhere, he's a player
that changes the way the Wilds play, he changes the way any team plays, and I think that when
you're looking at him as an option for this Wilds team, there's no other option, you need
to have him, you need to keep him, and when this team comes into next season, where you
have a different look on offense, but the defense stays pretty much the exact same here,
apart from Holy Mata coming in, or Jake Middleton, you need to go out here and make things work,
you need to make sure you're getting the most out of Quinn Hughes, the most out of your players,
while you have them, and, you know, that's also coming in for trade, signings, injuries,
whatever it may be, you gotta focus on the big picture, and I think that Quinn Hughes,
Wally's here, and you have until about March, if a trade is happening, to make things work,
and I understand, kind of the idea that Quinn Hughes is coming from, you want to see if things
are going here before you commit long-term, you never know what could happen, you know,
the way that Bill Geren's been talking about it, anybody's movable, obviously,
I think within reason, you know, you're not going to trade back Goldie, you're not going
to trade Grover, Krizov, Brock, Faber, Quinn Hughes if you have to, Quinn's gonna get the
money wherever, so putting this all into perspective, I think that that's something
as well that Quinn Hughes may be keeping an eye out for. When you look at this here as well,
kind of putting it into a different picture from Jeremy Tingley, this approach is going to be
complete, it's going to completely handcuff Geren and the Wild, because what if Minnesota
are a middle-of-the-path team this season, and by March trade deadline, Hughes still isn't,
excuse me, Hughes still isn't interested in committing long-term, if Geren isn't trading
Hughes now, will he make a bold move before the deadline, just weeks away from the potential
round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs, so, you know, there's a lot of things that are going to
be pushed up a lot earlier this season if Quinn Hughes is not signed before, I would even go the
New Year, right, you know, I think that Bill Geren's trust is still there, I think that the fact
that it's him rather than any other GM, I think that the fact that it's Quinn Hughes rather than
any other player is a major, major bonus for the Wild, but as we've been seeing, Quinn Hughes has
given every indication that he is planning on staying, and kind of go and look at J.P. Barrie's
clients, the, you know, players that he had, Matt Barzell, Adrian Kempe, David Pasternak, Dougie
Hamilton, Phillip Forsberg, you know, a lot of players here who kind of going through the past
haven't had necessarily had contract difficulties, but they're getting what they want, they're getting
what they're worth, and I think that's something that, you know, especially now with the newest
market, really apart from Adrian Kempe, this is the first player that J.P. Barrie has that
is going to be getting a big contract, there's a lot of things here to consider about the future
for this Wild team, so folks, give me your thoughts on this down below, because obviously this changed
a lot for this team, I think that when you're looking at the picture for the regular season,
it's now much more important to start off ready to go in game one, rather than slowly adjust to
the season, and be ready by, you know, game 10, game 20, so give me your thoughts on this down
below, but folks, that's all I got, a bit of a nerve, you know, a nervy quote here, but we're
going to see where this all goes here on the channel, we're going to have it all as it comes out,
but that's all I got in this one, if you enjoyed, give it a like, hit the sub button as well,
I'm signing out, thank you for watching, hope you have a great day.
