Well, you know, my life with Jesus started when I heard the voice.
But, you know, I still didn't know the Lord.
Living a wild and crazy lifestyle, sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
One of my best friends at the time, he was really just the path of destruction to my life.
So I started doing drugs at a very young age.
I actually thought that I would be doing my children a favor
and myself a favor to bail out a life altogether.
Joshua, when he came out, he was blue in limb.
He was done.
Rides up my back and onto my head.
I have this thought, Jesus, is this how it ends?
And the only thing left of that airplane was the seat that she was sitting in.
I knew deep down inside I was dying.
You know, the experiences that I had with the Lord, they just kind of went dormant.
And I knew I was passing out.
I knew I was going to go down.
And my heart sank.
I knew I wasn't going to make it.
The only thing I could say is what I said.
I said, God, please help me.
I felt this warm presence come into my room.
And I knew it was Jesus.
I cried out to Jesus.
I felt this presence come down on me like I've never felt before.
And I knew that everything was going to be OK.
I just had this boldness rise up in me.
And I said, in Jesus' name, I speak life to this child.
He looked at me and said, hey, her children need a father too.
It was like the Lord just said, anything you utter right now will please me.
I just said, Jesus, you're right and I'm wrong.
I just asked you to help me.
That means I no longer do what I want to do, but what he wants me to do.
The voice of the Lord said, this is your answer.
I'm so grateful for the power, the miracle of Jesus Christ and prayer.
And when we have faith, watching what the Lord did for him and is doing for him today.
Please, Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me fulfill my destiny.
Part of something greater than myself in Jump for Jesus, it is impressed upon my heart.
And it's something I'll never forget.
And I'm extremely thankful for.
That is when I realized there's a God in heaven who could see me.
Can't explain it.
You know what?
Nobody can explain it.
You have to experience it.
When the Israelites crossed over the River Jordan, Joshua told one man from each tribe
to grab a stone out of the river and make a pile on the bank.
He said, make this a monument so that when your children see it and ask,
what is meant by these stones?
You can tell them of all the wonderful things that the Lord has done for you.
Well, here are all the wonderful things that the Lord has done for us.
Well, you know, my life with Jesus started when I heard the voice.
I know that sounds strange to a lot of people, but as a seven-year-old boy, as a Catholic,
I would look up at this life-size Jesus hanging on the cross.
And I would say, you know, Lord, one day you're going to open your eyes
and you're going to look at me.
May 20th, 1972, this girlfriend that I've been living with,
she invited me to go to this breakfast, Truckee, Nevada.
Small little gathering, 75 people.
And it was kind of awkward for me, but I went, sat in the back.
But this little guy got up and he said, I was on heroin for seven years.
My wife was a believer, but I wasn't.
One night, Jesus woke me up.
Well, man, this guy had my full attention.
I thought, what?
And he said, Jesus woke me up.
He said, if you throw away your heroin, I'll heal you.
He said, I went out in the garage, threw away my heroin, went back to bed.
He said, I was totally healed.
That part of his story didn't move me.
When the little guy said Jesus spoke to me, I dropped my head.
And I said, Jesus, I wish you'd speak to me.
He began to show me my life for the next 20 minutes.
I was checked out.
I mean, I was working my way up the ladder.
Evel Knievel's bodyguard.
I was involved in all kinds of nightlife.
But that morning, everything changed.
It was deep, deep remorse and sorrow.
Yet something of an expectation of something new.
You can't explain it.
You know what?
Nobody can explain it.
You have to experience it.
They said, if anybody's being moved on by the Lord, come up, we'll pray for you.
Well, that was me.
So I went up and laid hands on me and started praying for him and led me through a prayer.
Went like something like this.
Lord Jesus, thank you for my life.
All that I am today.
All that I will ever be in this life.
Wherever I go and whatever I do, I now commit my life to you.
I'm paid, bought for by your blood.
My life is no longer mine.
Please, Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me fulfill my destiny.
That's when my life started all over again.
My name is Rick Ramsbottom.
I was a marine aquarium fish exporter in Hawaii.
It kind of all started on a particular day.
I would always check the surf reports, see what the weather was like.
And on this day, it was calling for small craft warnings, but my house was right on the beach.
So I looked out my big bay window and it was a beautiful day.
So I loaded up the boat and went out.
And first dive was great.
Second dive was great.
Third dive, if I checked the anchor, the anchor wasn't there.
When I broke the surface, what I saw took my breath away.
In a half an hour, the weather had changed into a full blown gale storm.
I'm trying to spot my boat, but the waves, 8 to 10 foot swells.
So trying to find my boat was impossible.
And at this point, I'm starting to panic because sometimes those rainstorms in Hawaii last for days.
I knew that if I didn't do something, I was just going to drown right on the spot.
And just as I thought that, the rain let up just enough for me to barely see where shore was.
And I looked at shore to see how much further I had to go,
but it didn't look like I had gone any further than when I started.
And my heart sank.
I knew I wasn't going to make it.
So right then, the Lord took me back to when I was seven years old.
One night, I'm laying in bed, feeling lonely, abandoned.
I felt this warm presence come into my room.
I knew it was Jesus.
I felt loved.
I felt like somebody was looking out for me.
And I laid there and I told Jesus I loved him.
At that moment, I realized that that's the reason why I made it through all those things
because I told Jesus I loved him as a child.
And that's what I said.
I said, well, God, you know, that's great.
But I'm still in the ocean and I'm getting ready to face you here.
The only thing I could say is what I said.
I said, God, please help me.
When I said that, I got a jolt and I looked at shore and I felt like I could make it.
And I started swimming again.
And three and a half hours later, I hit the shore.
So my boat was gone.
That was my business.
And I'm just sitting in the house and I'm stunned.
The phone rings.
It's the Coast Guard.
They had been doing maneuvers 18 miles off Barber's Point.
And they spotted my boat and they said, we're going to pull it in for you.
A needle in a haystack.
And so another miracle.
I'm back in business.
And soon after that, we were the largest aquarium fish company in the state.
But, you know, I still didn't know the Lord.
Living a wild and crazy lifestyle, sex, drugs and rock and roll.
That went on for another four or five months.
And then I got invited to a full gospel businessman's luncheon in Honolulu.
I'm standing outside and I'd met the president of that chapter.
His name was Joe Hilton.
And he said, how would you like to be filled with the Holy Ghost?
And I said, to tell you the truth, Joe, all this stuff kind of scares me, to be honest with you.
And he said, well, can we pray for you?
Would you let us pray for you?
And I said, sure, why not?
So this youth pastor who I would get to know him later.
First thing he said to me was, do you accept Jesus Christ as Lord of your life?
And it hit me.
But wow, Lord, that means master.
That means I no longer do what I want to do, but what he wants me to do.
The voice of the Lord said, this is your answer.
This is the answer to your question.
What's life all about?
And I went, OK, I do.
I said, we're going to lay hands on you and the Lord is going to fill you with his spirit.
At this point, I was surrendered.
As I'm walking out of there, I felt something.
I felt something different.
I never went back to drugs again.
Never took drugs again from that day.
Something I've done my whole life.
I found the Pearl of Great Price, which is the answer to life, which is the peace of God.
My name is Jeff Hamblin.
Ever since I was a kid, I had aspirations to be a rock star.
So I started doing drugs at a very young age, 11, actually.
I moved to Las Vegas, you know, grew my hair out and wanted to be that rock star.
Sold all my stuff at the pawn shop and I became homeless.
My name is Linda Erb.
I'm Jeff Hamblin's mom.
Raising him in a religious environment that I did with the law, with the do's and the don'ts
and how to be a Christian didn't do a very good job.
So anyway, it ended up he moved to Vegas to do what he wanted to do.
And I was trying to control him to be what I wanted him to be as a Christian.
And he rebelled.
One day I was homeless and I was sitting on the park bench.
The police showed up and they were running my ID.
A friend of mine had given me a joint that I stuck in my cargo pocket.
And I was reaching down to grab that joint to throw it out.
And they told me to stop and I didn't.
And they tackled me into the bus bench.
And I came down on my right side and unbeknownst to me, I perforated my intestines.
They took me to jail.
He called me a couple of times from jail and I never took the clock call
because I knew the Lord wanted him to come to the end of it.
I knew deep down inside I was dying.
And at that point, I cried out to Jesus.
And I felt this presence come down on me like I've never felt before.
And I knew that everything was going to be okay.
I told him I was sorry for all that I've ever done.
Ended up taking me to the hospital.
And in the hospital, that's when they found that I had perforated my intestines.
So anyway, I was at a gym one night and I got a call from a doctor.
And the doctor said, your son is in bad shape.
He'll die tonight if he doesn't have the surgery.
He's got perforated intestines.
I ended up calling Gene, my shepherd pastor that I've known for many, many years who knew Jeff.
And he said, this is what I tell Jeff.
Put his life in Jesus's hands and have the surgery and see what Jesus will do.
I got on the phone with Jeff.
I told him that and I prayed with him on the phone and said,
put your life in Jesus's hands and see what he does.
They took me into the operating room.
They put me under anesthesia.
And unbeknownst to me, three weeks had passed.
I didn't know it.
I walked in the room and I was shocked.
And I grabbed my son and I knew I was passing out.
I knew I was going to go down.
His temperature was up to 106 and they were just smothering him with ice.
And it was so cold in there.
I was freezing to death.
And the Holy Spirit said to me, get a grip.
He needs a mom in faith.
And I said, devil, you're not having my son.
But during that time I was under it, the Lord Jesus took me to heaven.
And it was so surreal, so peaceful.
I said, Jeff, I said, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand.
And he squeezed my hand.
When I woke up, I was kind of bummed out because I had to come back to where I was at, you know.
So anyway, three weeks later, he woke up out of the coma.
He should have died.
He could have died.
He would have died.
You know, I got another chance.
And I'm thankful to be here today.
I'm sober now.
And this was 16 years ago.
They were able to sew him back up again.
Everything's normal today.
He's following Jesus today.
And so grateful for the power, the miracle of Jesus Christ and prayer.
And when we have faith, watching what the Lord did for him and is doing for him today.
So that's our miracle.
So my mom, Pat Sullivan, was one of only about 1,200 women who became a B-25 pilot
during World War II.
She ends up in Rifle, Colorado.
My brother and I, we end up visiting our mom in the summer of 1956.
She had just recovered from an airplane crash.
What happened, she was ferrying a brand new Super Cub back to Steamboat Springs.
And the plane quit on her over the Roosevelt Forest and decided to crash this plane
between two big pine trees.
This is her thinking.
If I could put this plane between the trees, the wings will absorb a lot of the impact.
And I may be able to get out of this.
And the only thing left of that airplane was the seat that she was sitting in.
She only got a scratch on her forehead.
That was it.
At the end of her life, CeCe and I and a woman in the ministry named Linda went to Grand
Junction where she was dying to be with her the last days of her life.
I'm walking and praying.
I'm talking to the Lord about her.
And the Spirit says to me, bring her back to the plane crash and ask her if she remembers
hearing a voice speak to her on her way down before she crashed.
Because I spoke to her and I said, Patty, don't worry.
You're going to walk away from this.
At the end of her life, we're looking at the pictures of this plane crash.
I said, so Momsy, do you remember hearing a voice speak to you before you crashed and
kind of a light comes into our eyes?
And she thought and she says, well, yeah, I did.
I said, do you remember what it was?
And she says, well, not really.
I said, did the voice say to you, Patty, don't worry.
You're going to be all right.
You're going to walk away from this.
And she said, my God, that's exactly what it said.
She was pretty rough around the edges.
My mom became the sweetest person the last month of her life that any of us ever knew.
Back in 1992, I mean, it was a long time ago.
I had not really had an experience yet with the Lord.
I'd given my life to the Lord, but I had really not had a real experience with him.
When I was talking about that, my pastor had said, I think that you being up logging with
those guys up in Montana, I think that one day you'll just be cutting the tree up, logging
whatever you're doing up there.
And one day Jesus will just pop out and it's like, surprise, here I am, you know.
So about eight o'clock this one morning, it was early and I had already gotten a couple
trees done and the dozer driver came up and grabbed one of them that I had just finished on.
And I'm walking away.
It's a 33 foot log at this point.
And he grabs it.
And as he's starting to take it away, his grappler was locked.
Usually it was on a free swivel.
The grapple hook came down, locked on, and he started a turn right after that.
Here's this 33 foot long baseball bat following him rigidly.
Well, I just happened to be in the path of the end of that.
Hit me in the thigh, knocked me over between two other logs.
It rides up my back and onto my head.
And as it was doing that, I had this thought, Jesus, is this how it ends?
And at that very moment, it stopped and I wriggled out from underneath.
But I thought that that was the end.
And one of the guys says to me, he says, well, Tim, I think you found your tree.
Because he had known about the prophecy that had been given to me.
It totally bore witness.
And I knew that Jesus was trying to get a hold of me.
And so that night, I went walking and praying.
I said, Jesus, all that I am today and all that I'll ever be,
and wherever I go and whatever I do, I now commit my life into your hands.
It was like for the first time, I just felt clean.
I felt free.
I felt I didn't have a care in this life.
Got home, told my wife and everybody else what had happened.
And by this time, my thigh was totally black and blue.
I mean, solid black and blue.
And right in the middle of all of it was a letter S.
It wasn't for Superman.
But to me, what came to me was sun.
I felt like I had been branded a sun.
Well, actually, my whole entire life, I wanted nothing to do with Christianity,
nor did I want anything to do with women.
So I made myself tough.
I'm working at this automotive shop, and I'm having an affair with my boss.
So the job's pretty locked in.
My husband invites me to go to this dinner over at one of his Christian friends' house.
And I'm like, OK.
There were three guys at the table, and I saw Gene Sullivan.
And I thought to myself, there's nothing I want to do with that man.
He started to stick out his hand.
And I said, I don't like Christians.
I don't like people who go to church.
I said, don't bother talking to me.
But he said, I have my issues with the church, too.
So we'll get along just fine.
I was like, oh, great.
Couldn't control this guy.
He gets out his Bible, and I start to argue scriptures with him.
So he would say something, and I would try and argue it.
Of course, I'm not winning the argument, and he's not arguing with me.
He just says, well, that's not what this says.
I was done.
I was done with this guy.
He was the first person ever in my life that I could not shut down, shut up, or control.
I'd finally had enough of trying to win a battle I knew I was losing.
So I just said, you know what?
I'm leaving.
And I got up.
I walked out.
My life was totally ruined that night because this hard, crusty me couldn't be the hard,
crusty me anymore.
I went back to my world, but a thing called love had hit me that night when I met the
first man in my life that I could not control, somebody who loved me and was nice to me,
even though I was real mean to him.
And I found out later that after I left that room, he got down on his knees and said, we
need to pray for this woman.
So here I am driving, trying to do my job.
And every 10 minutes I'd have to pull over and try and stop crying.
I was so out of control with my emotions.
And I would see Gene's van drive by.
And it was like there was something that made me want to follow whatever he had.
But yet there was something in me that was so angry.
I wanted to throw rocks at him.
So my husband praised this prayer.
Lord, I don't know what to do with this woman.
She's yours.
I'm taking my hands off of her.
Do whatever you want with this woman.
The next day after he prayed that prayer, I went back to work and I got called into
my boss's office.
He fired me.
So I was so out of control that, of course, I went back into my office and just destroyed
the whole thing.
And so I just couldn't keep it all together anymore.
So I decided that night that was the end of my life.
And the man who owned the home that we went to dinner at stopped by to see me and my husband.
My husband comes out and he says, can I pray for you guys before I leave?
So he starts praying for me, but he started rebuking the spirit of suicide.
That is when I realized there's a God in heaven who could see me.
And I guess he cared because he sent somebody my way.
And so from that point on, I started yielding to the love of the Lord.
The Holy Ghost moves on my story every time I tell it.
We're on the road.
I got the two boys and five families heard about me.
In Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
And so they booked me.
There was no guarantee of money.
And the understanding was I would just come for offerings, whatever they offer.
I don't think the arrangement was even that they would pay for my motel.
So we show up.
I've got $34, period.
I had $34.
That was it.
$34 between us and poverty.
We end up there with a quart of a tank of gas and $34 for the whole week.
There's five of us.
Whatever cash I had was in my pocket.
We check in to this motel right in town.
So the guy says, well, you want to just give me your credit card or whatever?
I said, oh, I don't have one.
Oh, you want to pay cash?
I said, yes.
I said, we'll just pay it when we leave.
He was one of the Christian families that brought me in.
So we check in and go to our room.
We got one room, five people.
And I'm thinking dinner because it's getting that time.
I start doing the math.
But I figure we can eat McDonald's for probably three days and be all right here.
And something rose up in me.
I start getting angry.
I'm angry at my own thoughts.
And I just said out loud, I'm not doing that.
It was the faith that lives inside of us that was resisting fear, fear of not having enough.
I said, watch this.
Get ready, guys.
We're going to go have a steak dinner.
And I spent every dollar we had on dinner.
I didn't tell him it was our last meal.
I just said, this is it.
For the next week, we didn't have to pay for nothing.
And when we're getting ready to leave after five days of ministry,
I go to walk into the office thinking, well, I know I'm going to get some money.
By the time they gave me the offering,
I had enough money to pay two payments to catch up on my van.
Plus, I went to check out.
And the guy said, your bill's been paid for.
We left with 900 bucks.
And our next stop was Seattle, Washington.
The Lord provided.
So 2006, Gene got invited to go down to Tonga.
And me and my family, we went back with him.
He was invited to be a keynote speaker for the 40th anniversary
of the Holy Spirit falling on the islands of Tonga.
He was the last speaker.
I don't remember the message.
Gene said, if you love the Lord, if you love Jesus,
I want you to come up here and take a stand for Him.
This might be your last chance for someone.
So obviously, we go forward.
And he says, everybody who hasn't received your prayer language,
you're going to receive the gift of tongues.
And he went down the line.
And me and my sister and a lot of other people
were filled with Holy Ghost, spoke in other tongues.
It was a day that I'll never forget.
Later that day, kind of the tagline for the event was Let the Fire Fall.
And there were some political groups there,
radical, that set businesses on fire.
Not many people find themselves in the middle of a riot
in a foreign nation halfway around the world.
These guys did, though.
Our ministry was over there doing this Holy Spirit 40-year celebration.
The local evangelists were getting ready to leave the island nation of Tonga
when the unexpected happened.
The whole city was just aflame.
That night when the fire spread,
there was two people that were confirmed that got caught in the fire
that were at that meeting.
For them, it was their last chance.
I got married when I was just turning 18 to a very troubled man.
I was a troubled woman.
We had four children together,
and he ended up confessing to murder and rape.
Realizing he committed another crime made me very desperate and depressed.
I lost all kinds of weight.
I was on the run from him for a while.
He was very dangerous.
They nicknamed him the Ted Bundy of Colorado.
I actually thought that I would be doing my children a favor
and myself a favor to bail out a life altogether
and to give them all the weight to other people to raise.
So I settled the ministry in Grand Junction.
This one day, this woman walks in with three kids and two old folks.
I realize she no longer has a husband.
Those are the parents of her ex-husband.
And I said, Lord, I don't know what it is about this woman,
but if there's something I'm supposed to do for her,
then you're going to have to bring her to me.
After I decided not to bail out and lay down my life for my kids,
I heard God's voice one day to go to a concert.
I saw a man there that I didn't know I'd seen on TV twice.
I'd mocked him and scorned him because he was a motorcycle jumper talking about Jesus.
And I thought, what a stupid thing to do.
And I noticed out of the corner of my eye,
this woman in jeans and a red shirt is going toward the front.
I didn't recognize her.
There was something that really burned within me like Jesus on the road to Emmaus
that made me think, wow, there's something alive in this man's words.
Well, next thing I know, this woman is standing right in front of me.
And she's like, do I know you?
And I looked at her and I said, no.
And when I said, no, I don't think so.
Well, about that time, her eyes got about that big.
She goes, oh, well, no, I'm sorry.
I said, oh, wait a minute.
It dawned on me, my God, it's the woman.
So I said, look, why don't we have coffee?
And so we had breakfast the next day.
And it all went uphill from there.
It's like my whole life that was a broken bunch of pieces of puzzle came together.
When I told my team what was going on with the woman,
one of the leaders looks over and says, ah, I see the woman's there.
I turned to him and I said, well, who would marry a woman with four kids?
And I was joking.
What man in his right mind would marry a woman that had way too much counseling
and that had four children that was married to the Ted Bundy of Colorado?
Well, a man of God would.
He turned me serious as a heart attack.
He looked at me and said, hey, her children need a father, too.
And man, no more jokes.
You know what?
I was all in.
Hi, my name's Tim.
This is my wife, Deanna.
And Deanna and I were having our second child.
The baby ended up having the heart defect.
I remember praying and just saying, Lord, I just need your help.
So we prayed together and asked the Lord.
He said, you know, Lord, we want him to live, but we want your will.
Yeah.
Not our will, but your will be done.
Yes.
And we give his life to you.
And 30 minutes later, he passed away.
And he gave me the desire in my heart, you know,
just even beholding him when he had passed away.
So after that happened, we had to make some arrangements.
And I was down at the office standing in line.
And there was this man that was just walking away.
And he had a little baby just over his shoulder looking behind him.
And as he was walking away, the baby just said to me, he just said, he just waved.
He said, bye bye.
See you later.
And the Lord was giving her peace.
And he did the same for me.
So after Aaron had passed away, then I had two miscarriages.
And there was a little girl we were taking care of.
And she was doing flashcards.
And I shuffled the flashcards and she reads them, you know.
And it was a day after the miscarriage.
And she's saying the flashcards.
And it says, Deanna, have baby boy.
And I was just like, Christy, did you know what you just said?
You know what I was like.
And I mean, it was just what I needed to hear.
But then when we were pregnant with our third child,
I heard that we were going to have a baby boy.
I mean, my tummy is going up and down with that ultrasound.
And I'm just like so excited because yes, we're going to have a baby boy.
And we're on our way into the hospital.
And we asked the Lord.
Yep, we prayed.
We just would say the prayer and said,
we just pray, Lord, you'll be glorified tonight through Joshua's birth.
Joshua, his shoulder was lodged behind my pelvic bone.
So he was stuck inside of me.
And I could not push him out.
He was dying.
And then our regular doctor came for the morning for the delivery.
And he just put his hands in such a way.
It was so hard the way he just went on my stomach.
Well, when he came out, he looked like Aaron.
He was blue and limp.
And I'm like, Lord, please not again.
And nothing was working.
And I said, you know, Lord, I don't understand again.
You know, Aaron passed away to miscarriages.
And now this, I don't know something.
I know, I just know it was the Lord.
Just their hope rose up in me.
And I was just like, you know,
I don't believe this is supposed to happen today with him.
Right.
And that's when I said to Tim,
we need to go over and lay hands on him and ask the Lord to help us.
As she was saying that, I was like, yes.
I just had this boldness rise up in me.
I went over there, kind of moved up over a little bit.
I put my hand on his head.
And I said, in Jesus name, I speak life to this child.
And not even like five seconds later,
he starts coughing and sputtering and spitting.
And our prayer was that he would be glorified,
that the Lord would be glorified through his birth.
It was all over the whole floor.
It's like, did you hear what went on in room two?
The baby wasn't breathing.
And the father went over and prayed for and the baby started breathing.
What do you want to say?
Josh said he had something to say.
So I guess he wants to say something.
Go ahead.
When I was born, I wasn't breathing.
Uh, what was it again?
What happened after you weren't breathing?
The Lord breathed life into me.
And my dad came over and prayed for me.
That's right.
You're here because of it, aren't you?
That's right.
Amen.
I mean, the Lord, the Lord was glorified that day.
And we just say, thank you, Jesus.
And now we have a...
Joshua means God is salvation.
Yes.
So early in this experience, I'm so excited
because I'm working for this Spirit-filled publication.
And it's like almost every day,
some kind of like mini miracle happens.
And so we had this little home group meeting we did once a week.
But on the way down, I'm just praising the Lord.
Some people maybe not get this,
but when you're filled with the Spirit, it's just tremendous.
And I'm all excited.
Everything's great.
I'm filled with Spirit, going to a meeting.
I'm talking to Jesus like he's in the seat next to me.
I'm saying, you know, Lord, I know you can do whatever you want.
I said, for instance, you know, man from heaven,
if you wanted to, you could put a loaf of bread right here.
And I'm talking to him, just being kind of crazy.
So I ended up going to this little home group meeting.
It was a meeting where people would get up
and just share what the Lord had been doing in their life that week.
Well, the meeting's over, walk out, I get in the van.
And before I could start it, this little 70-year-old lady comes out.
She says, oh, Brother Sullivan, do you like banana bread?
And she comes with a banana bread wrapped in cellophane and hands it to me.
Says, here, the Lord told me to give this to you.
And it was a fresh baked loaf of banana bread.
And I took that and I put it on the console.
But it didn't dawn on me what happened.
So I back out, I'm driving back to home.
Lord, you're great.
You know, this was a great meeting.
Thank you.
You can do anything.
And I look down there and that's where the bread was.
That I said, he could do that if he wanted to.
Well, he did it before the night was over.
I guess really to start the story,
I get into my 14, 15, 16 years.
And one of my best friends at the time,
he was really just the path of destruction to my life.
You know, the experiences that I had with the Lord, they just kind of went dormant.
And it brought me to a point where I realized
I was going to have to either choose the cool kids or choose my family.
I started to look to the military to maybe fill the void
or to become my next vision, to straighten myself up.
In that time, one of the guys from our ministry,
he loved the Lord, he was kind, he was respectful.
And just being able to work with him for a few months,
I started to realize that's the right way to be.
You know, it's like the Lord started working on me.
So one night I was at home alone
and I started to just become aware of the fact that I wasn't right with the Lord.
I had no peace whatsoever.
I'm sitting there in the basement alone.
I just said, Jesus, you're right and I'm wrong.
I just asked you to help me.
Instantly, the right path became illuminated to me.
I just started writing this thing down like a letter to my friend of,
hey man, here's all the things we've been doing
and are trying to do that are bad and wrong.
This is what happened to me and this is what I'm going to start doing.
And so you could say that's kind of the oath part
because I no longer needed the vision of going to the military to set myself straight.
I call it the Declaration of Independence is the best way to
kind of illustrate my little letter to my friend.
You know, I told him I was going this way
and if you wanted to walk that way too, then we could walk together.
And so in taking an oath, that was the army that I was enlisted into.
And it changed my life.
It's all that I am, all that I have, all that I'll ever hope to be,
wherever I go and whatever I do, I commit to you, Jesus.
So I went from a guy you could never get along with
to where now I have a wife and one little girl, another one on the way.
I still got to fulfill the desire to be part of a team,
something greater than myself in Jump for Jesus.
It is impressed upon my heart and it's something I'll never forget
and I'm extremely thankful for.
So that's the oath.
So after Gene married my mom, I was raised in the Christian culture.
We would have meetings and one thing I remember very distinctly
was when I heard people speak in tongues.
When I didn't know what it was, I didn't doubt it.
I just was like, wow, that's cool.
But one night when I was 10, we had a man visiting us from Kenya.
His name is Robinson Matende.
But I was in bed, you know, listening to music, trying to go to sleep
and I just hear this ruckus coming from like two doors down the hall.
And I see Matende and my brother Wade pacing back and forth
in this big kind of multi-purpose room,
just praising the Lord and speaking in tongues.
And I was arrested by it.
I sat there and I watched him and I said,
this is something's happening.
This is amazing.
And finally, I can't remember who it was, either Matende or my brother,
saw me and, oh, Brother Dan.
And he comes over and they start just praising the Lord and stuff.
And they just laid hands on me right then and there.
And I remember hearing a voice.
And I, you know, it was like the Lord just said,
anything you utter right now will please me.
And He said, make a joyful noise.
And so I got up there and I just started marching.
We got in the line and we just paraded around this room.
And, you know, I've, there's times I've doubted, you know, I've had my doubts.
Like, was that really real?
Did that really, you know, am I just making this up?
And the Lord's always come back to, how do you feel when you pray in the Spirit?
And I said, well, I feel connected to God.
When I sit back and realize that, I know what happened was real.
And I know it happens.
Every time it happens, it's real.
What it all comes down to is as the Spirit speaks, they make a joyful sound.
And that's been the word in my life since I was 10 years old to today.
I was at South Florida when the Lord actually called me into ministry.
I did this jump on his church parking lot, first jump.
Made national news.
All this newspaper stuff that I got from this first church jump.
Evil Knievel sidekick jumps for Jesus.
That was the headline.
Even into Europe, it was the headline.
And I would come home with nothing.
Meanwhile, a guy who has an advertising agency calls me, wants to promote me, but he's failing.
So I took him to breakfast.
So we come home this one evening.
He says, man, Gene, I don't know what I'm going to do.
I got no money.
And I don't know if my wife even has dinner made for us.
I said, well, I know, Pat.
It's kind of the same way with me.
So we kind of laughed.
And I said, well, Lord, thanks for taking care of us.
I get out of the car, walking around the back.
Jerry Lucas, this friend of mine, he pulls up behind us.
Hey, Sully.
He said, look, I don't know why I did this.
I hate meatloaf.
He had his hot, steaming meatloaf in cellophane through the window.
Gave it to me.
I said, Jerry, before I could say thank you, he splits.
And I'm looking at this meatloaf.
I turn around and I think, Lord, I got to give this to him.
So I turn around, knock on his window.
He rolled down the window and says, what's that?
I says, this is dinner tonight, Pat.
Man, he teared up.
So he took it, drove away.
I walked into the house.
I think I'm going to face the music here, you know.
Walk in and I smell chicken.
And there's a crock pot filled with chicken.
Somebody in the body had dropped the chicken off to us.
So we never missed a meal.
And that happened.
There were several instances where that happened.
A meatloaf on a passenger seat tells the story of the mustard seed.
And it's just amazing that something so small can be found in the grass.
It's three feet tall, but it's all been done before.
You don't have to worry anymore.
Diver was lost 13 miles from shore.
To his arms and legs would fail.
But he could walk upon the water with the one who prevails.
Before we've seen what we have heard.
We live by every word.
We will tell our sons and daughters that you trade us life for our toils and our strife.
I love you.
The story goes that plane crash in the Rockies.
Staked in a foot two.
The man pushed aside.
The sun was turning blue.
Still all we've seen.
Now the son of a criminal is a criminal indeed.
And you would think that he is destined to have one life to lead.
Through the giving of a father.
And the gift of four sons.
The curse has been removed from the generations.
And one man is dying.
One took an oath.
The woman had crushed him on the ground.
No small voice was the sweetest sound.
What we've seen.
And all our sons and daughters.
So the dead are being raised.
And the lost are now found.
And as the spirit speaks they make a joyful sound.
Just like that little old man.
With my original plea.
I'm still asking you.
Jesus.
I wish you would speak to me.
We've seen what we have said.
Allelu, Allelu, make me.
You are being great.
You will bless your whole day.
Amen.
