The subtle body in kundalini yoga teachings is the aspect of us that can tune into the invisible realms. A strong subtle body gives us increased perception of what's really going on, beyond what we can physically see. This kundalini yoga kriya, known as the Kriya for the Ninth Body, helps us strengthen the subtle body so we can expand our awareness.
As with all kundalini yoga kriyas please be careful with your body. Keep yourself safe from injury. If you feel dizzy, just take a moment or two out. Remember to drink plenty of water during and after your practice.
Sat Nam. I'm Yogi Gems. I'm a Kundalini Yoga teacher. Kundalini Yoga is known as the yoga
of awareness because it helps us see beyond the physical into the more subtle realms. It helps us
to know what's really going on through our intuition in each moment. This Kundalini Yoga
Kriya is known as the Kriya for the Ninth Body. It works on what's known as the subtle body in
Kundalini Yoga teachings. That's the ability to sense beyond the physical, to know what's
happening beyond the 3D. Taught today with minimal instruction so you can really go deep
into the experience of it. Let's bring our palms together. Give them a good vigorous rub.
Bring your prayer mudra into the heart center. Deep inhale to stretch tall.
Keep that length as you exhale. Relax the shoulders away from the ears.
Inhale to lift the heart and exhale to draw the chin in towards the neck.
Let's take a deep inhale to tune in with our mantras. If you're new to the mantras,
just listen in for now.
Namaskar.
Deep inhale. Hold that breath in as you invite your higher self to guide you through this
Kundalini Yoga practice, keeping you safe from injury and keeping the space that you're practicing
in clear, safe and protected. Exhaling, relaxing the hands down to the knees in Gya Mudra.
Index fingers, touching thumbs, just allowing those mantras to settle in every cell, molecule,
atom of your being, bringing you into deep presence for this Kundalini Yoga.
Good. Let's get started straight in with our Kundalini Yoga Kriya for the ninth body.
We'll bring our right thumb to block the right nostril. I'm mirroring you. Left hand stays in
Gya Mudra on the knee and we're moving into a breath of fire through the left nostril.
If breath of fire feels too much today, slow it down to a long, slow, deep breath.
Eyes roll up and into third eye point. Deep inhale through that left nostril.
Hold the breath in. As you squeeze more buns, you're activating anus and sex organs. Pull the
navel in. Feel, sense, imagine the energy rising up that central channel of the spine. Hold, squeeze,
lift. Exhale. Relax your right hand down to Gya Mudra on the knee. We're going to block the left
nostril now with the left thumb and it's breath of fire or long, slow, deep breath through the
right nostril. Again, eyes locked into third eye point in the center of the brow.
Take a deep inhale through the right nostril. Hold that breath in. Squeeze more buns,
activating pelvic floor, navel in. Energy rises up to the crown and exhale. Relax your left hand
now to the knee in Gya Mudra. We'll move into a breath of fire through both nostrils.
Long, slow, deep breath. If breath of fire is too much, eyes locked into third eye.
Deep inhale through both nostrils. Hold that breath in. As you activate more buns,
send that energy from Muladhara at the root to Sahasrara at the crown. Hold it, squeeze it,
lift. Exhale. Relax and release the breath. Stay present. Good. Now we're going to move into what's
as the conquering death meditation or the death mask meditation. We've got our thumbs blocking
the ears, the index fingers block the eyes, the middle fingers block the nose, and the ring and
the pinky fingers block the mouth. We're going to be taking a deep inhale, exhaling fully,
and we're going to hold that breath out as we block all holes in the face, just for as long
as it's comfortable to hold that breath out. When we're ready, we unblock the nostrils. We
deeply inhale, exhale fully, and block as we hold the breath out for as long as feels comfortable
at your own pace.
Take a deep inhale. Hold that breath in as you squeeze more bun, block every hole in the face,
and exhale. Float the hands down to the knees. Take a moment here. Good. And let's hold on to
the front shin or ankle as we move this energy with a spinal flex. We're inhaling forward,
exhaling back at your own pace. Eyes lock into third eye point.
Let's inhale to the center now. Hold that breath in with a long spine, activating the pelvic floor,
more bun, squeeze as you pull that energy up through the spine from root to crown. Hold, lift,
exhale. Relax and release hands to Gyan Mudra on the knees, sensing beyond the physical into the
subtle. Good. Now we'll bring the soles of our feet together. We're going to wrap our fingers
around the toes, and we're going to bring the thumbs into the big toenails with a really good
firm pressure to activate the pituitary gland. Now we're going to lean forward, so you've got
a really good stretch in the inner thighs, and we're breathing here long, slow, and deep.
Continue to train the eyes up and into third eye.
Deep inhale. Hold that breath in. Squeeze more bond. Elevate that energy up, up, up, up, up.
Exhale. Relax. Release. We'll move straight into the next posture. Legs extended out with a flex
through the feet, the arms parallel to the floor, palms facing down. We're going to lean back. Hold
this posture with a breath of fire or a long, slow, deep breath. Eyes at third eye point. Deep
inhale. Hold that breath in. Squeeze more bond as you lean back, back, back, back, back. Exhale.
Relax and release hands resting on the knees or out behind you. Just take a moment here,
resting in presence. Good. Now we'll come to sit on the heels if that's okay for the knees,
the ankles, the feet. If it's not, sit yourself in your comfortable easy pose.
We've got our fingers interlaced. We've got our hands behind the neck, under the hairline,
and under the hair. We're going to hold the belly in as we inhale, twist to the left,
exhale, twist to the right. I'm mirroring you. Inhale left, exhale right.
Into the center, deep inhale. Hold that breath in. Squeeze tight through more bond. Elevate
that energy up, up, up, up, up the spine to the crown. Hold, squeeze, lift. Exhale,
float hands to knees, Gyan Mudra. Staying very present with the subtle energy. Good.
Now let's come back to our easy pose. If you're not there already, we've got our hands
on our knees. We're going to inhale shoulders up to the earlobes. Exhale down, inhale up,
exhale down fast. Inhale shoulders up. Hold that breath in. Squeeze more bond. Elevate,
elevate, elevate that energy. And exhale, roll the shoulders back and around. Take a few shoulder
rotations here. Inhaling forward and up, exhaling down and back. And then allowing the shoulders to
relax down. We're turning our palms once more to face up in Gyan Mudra. Index fingers to thumbs.
We're dropping the chin to the chest. Inhaling, rolling the left ear to the left shoulder.
Exhaling, rolling chin across chest. Inhaling, right ear to right shoulder. Staying with this
semicircle. If the neck is feeling tender, if it's feeling more robust, we'll take this around
in a full neck rotation. Exhaling forward and around, inhaling back and around. And the next
time your chin comes to the chest, taking your time to get there, changing direction. If you're
in your semicircles, continuing on with this lovely stretch in the neck. And the next time
that your chin touches the chest, just allowing it to rest there for a moment. Breathing into the
back of the neck, the spine is straight. And then inhaling to elevate the chin so it's parallel to
the floor. We're going to bring the right thumb to the right nostril. Take a deep inhale through
the left nostril. Then we'll block left nostril with either ring finger or pinky finger. Exhale
right. Blocking right to inhale left. Blocking left to exhale right. That's our breath pattern.
Inhaling left and exhaling right. Inhale left. Hold that breath in. Relax the hand down to the knee
in Gyan Mudra. As you squeeze more Bandha, take the energy up through the central channel of the
spine. Shushumna, hold it, squeeze, lift. Exhale, relax and release. Taking a moment here in deep
presence. Good. Now we're going to bring our hands into our thumbs up Mudra, so fingertips onto tops
of palms. We're joining the thumb tips together and keeping this Mudra roughly in front of the
eye level. We're focusing at the join between the thumb tips. And unblinking, we're going to keep
our eyes fixed there with a long, slow, deep breath. We're consolidating this image to our
inner sight, fixing the eyes where the thumb tips meet. Good. Now we're going to close our
eyes and we're going to maintain the shape of the hands in our inner vision. So it's as if you're
looking through your eyelids, you can still see the shape of the hands. If you're struggling with
this, open the eyes again. Fix the gaze on that join between the thumb tips and continue to close
the eyes and see if you can envision the shape of the hands through the eyelids.
Inhale deep, hold that breath in, squeeze more Bandhas. You hold the posture, hold the vision
in your mind's eye. Exhale, float the hands down to the knees in Gyan Mudra. We'll stay here in
sensing beyond the physical into the subtle realms.
Let's bring our palms together, give them a good rub. We'll bring our prayer Mudra into the heart
center and we'll close our practice with Sat Naam. Truth is my name. Deep inhale to chant.
Bowing chin to chest, offering gratitude to body, mind and breath for bringing you to this
Kundalini Yoga. Sending that gratitude out into your life as far as it will go and coming back
into the room whenever you feel ready. Sat Naam. I'm Yogi Gems. I hope you enjoyed this Kundalini
