Morning. I think we're on renovation week 19, although I have no idea. Oh, it's a
very nice and sunny day. It is super early in the morning. I don't even think
it's 8 a.m. Just now at the house, I'm cleaning these kitchen units with these
Wonder Wipes. We actually bought a pack for ourselves because they're amazing.
These are like the wipes that builders use for everything, but they're really, really
good. They're just like normal anti-back wipes, but on steroids. They're great.
Anyway, I'm just working these units down because the worktop people are
coming this morning, which is very exciting. They are, well, fitting the
worktop, obviously, and last night, Jas and I, we made such a mess in the flat.
Actually, can I put you up in this cupboard? Hold on. Oh my god, how good is
this? I can put you up in this cupboard. So last night, Jas and I basically
unassembled a brand new desk that we have in the flat that we've never used,
and we managed to unassemble it and put it in our car. We've brought it here.
We've also brought one of our dining table chairs because our internet at
home has officially been cut off, and the internet here started a few days ago, so
we are both working from home, or he's working from home mainly, from here in a
very dusty house, which will be interesting because it's like our first
time essentially working from home here. I will be working, but I've got to go
return some paints to Homebase, as always, check if my order's coming,
because nobody ever answers the phone. I just think they don't have enough staff
because of Covid or something. Then I need to do some screw fix returns. I've
got the worktop people coming. I've got three deliveries. I've got an
Ironmongery delivery from Ironmongery Direct, and Mara, the shelf that they're
replacing, which I'll tell you about later, and my curtains from Dunelm. So
there's lots happening today, so I think we're gonna be here all day, and we're
gonna end up having lunch out somewhere, which is not ideal, but you know,
whatever. These things have to be done. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing
here, so I'm just sort of cleaning up, just so that the worktop doesn't go on
top of these dusty units, you know. So yeah, I will try and film the worktop
people. I have no idea how they're gonna bring a massive piece of stone in,
especially this corner unit. Especially this corner unit, because my main concern
was that I didn't want a join in the worktop, otherwise it would have been
easier for them to bring in two pieces. But I just wanted one whole piece, because
I'm very fussy like that. I was, I'm a bit annoyed, I wanted this whole
windowsill painting and cleaned before the worktop came in, but the builders
haven't been here because they're pretty much done. I'm gonna be working from the
new house today, and we just set up the table and the chair, and as you can see
it's nothing else here. It needs a new carpet, but it's quite handy because I've got
my laptop, and this portable monitor is very handy indeed. It's a little thin
little thing that you can put into your rucksack and just powers up from the
Ethernet port, sorry, the USB port. There we are, I'm ready to go, start my day.
There's Nishi in her natural habitat, eating strawberries.
I'm obsessed with strawberries again, like could this pot be any bigger?
Woah, you got enough there?
I haven't had breakfast yet, I'm gonna have breakfast because it's 10.30, then I'm gonna do some painting,
and then hopefully we can have lunch in like a couple of hours.
And then I'll go off on my missions to home base and screwfix.
Yep, oh and another thing, this is the last time you're gonna see these like this right?
Because the worktop people are coming in today. Oh my god yes, I haven't even vlogged the kitchen!
Yeah, so that's not gonna look like that anymore.
Well, like a shell. You're gonna have this covered obviously with a worktop,
and where you're sitting with a worktop, because it's gonna be a square right?
Not the L shape, so it's gonna be a big square.
Rectangle. Rectangle, yeah sorry.
And this is the big seating area.
Right, I'll let you in.
It's so cold, my teeth hurt.
Yeah, because these were in a little cool box weren't they?
In a cool bag, yeah. Oh, I don't like cold fruit, I don't like cold fruit.
Don't worry, you can have your little coffee in here as well.
In the thermos.
Oh my god, I've just been talking to myself for two minutes and I think I forgot to press record.
More like five minutes.
Oh my god, I'm so tired, I'm not with it today.
I've got the world's worst iced coffee.
We went to a local, can you get a selfie please?
We went to a local cafe, their salads are so nice,
but their coffee, iced coffee, is just pure milk, it's gross.
I feel like I need an actual coffee after this coffee.
Anyway, we went out for lunch,
I'm trying to summarise everything I said in my previous clip that didn't record.
We went out for lunch, we chanced it,
because the workshop people said they'd be here late morning.
So we went out at 12 o'clock,
and then I thought, let me just call them after I've eaten to be like,
hello, are you still coming?
And apparently the guys that were bringing the stone,
that are meant to be bringing the stone, turned up late to work or something.
So he was like, we'll be there between 2 and 2.30,
so I quickly rushed to Homebase, didn't go to Screwfix or B&M or anywhere.
Are they here?
So it's quarter to three, they're still not here.
And it's really annoying, because while I was in Homebase,
my kitchen fitter called me, he's sending a guy tomorrow.
But he called me because he was like, has your worktop been fitted?
Because if it has, he's going to send a guy for half a day today.
And I was like, not yet.
And he was like, well, he's just going to get in their way.
It's very annoying that this wasn't done first thing.
And also I was kind of hoping to just be home this afternoon,
because I fancy an afternoon nap.
We've been here since like 7.30 or something.
And we've been up since 6am.
And it's just tiring.
You were probably, we got here late as well.
Yeah, we got here later than expected,
because we were supposed to install the table, weren't we?
Put the table together.
We have to get here before Jas starts work,
to assemble a desk and bring everything in from the car.
And I've just been driving around.
If I'd have known they were going to be late,
I wouldn't have rushed back from home base,
because I could have gone to Screwfix, which is not far,
and B&M, which is not far.
I look so grumpy.
I've got like bags. Is this a bag?
Is this what they call bags under your eyes?
Why is this puffy? Jas, look at my face.
What is this?
So when my sister gets married soon,
I can't have a disgusting face.
What is this?
I don't know, maybe like a sleep?
I don't have bags. I have dark circles.
I'm the queen of dark circles, but what is this?
No, seriously, what is it?
I know what you mean.
I don't know.
Anyway, stop.
If anyone wanted to know what it's like being married to Jas,
say what you just said to me.
You've got more bags than Santa Claus.
See, some husbands are so nice,
and complimentary,
and so like,
you look beautiful today.
You look very beautiful today.
Oh yes, sarcasm more like.
Oh my god.
This looks so nice.
They're now
going to bring this big piece
of stain in for the island.
I think they're wheeling it in.
I don't know what this is.
I think they wheel it in on this.
It's really heavy.
Look at all our empty Farrow & Ball paints there.
So they've cordoned off this portion
of the worktop because they actually
polished the wrong side.
This bit's unpolished.
That bit is polished, but that's going to be hidden
on top of the unit, so they're supposed to polish this side
because that's where you sit back there.
So they've created this
really funny little cordon,
and it's quite good because they've
taped up the gaps, I guess, here
to stop all the dust and stuff.
Which is quite good.
No, super jumbo slab.
We couldn't get jumbo.
I don't know if you guys remember,
but we had a really fat IKEA
shelf that was like this thick.
In fact, you can see where the silicon
ended. The guys just removed it.
They created a shelf for me
out of some of our offcuts,
and they've polished these two edges.
These two didn't need to be.
And they're going to silicon it on, and I think
it's hard to tell because of the sun,
but I think it looks so much better
than that ugly IKEA wooden shelf.
It kind of matches this.
Similar, but
the walls aren't straight,
so I hope this is okay.
We'll find out in a bit, but my battery's going to die.
So, yeah, thought I'd quickly
show you this now. It just looks
so, so good.
Really impressed with that. The worktop has been
fitted! That's one more thing I
can tick off the list, which is so exciting.
They did a really good job.
They were, the two guys,
when the boss was here, who's like
really nice, but the two guys were so funny.
They were just constantly taking
the piss out of one another.
One was bossing the other one around, but he
took it all in good humour. It was very obvious
who the main guy was,
and who the little helper
dude was. Anyway, they were really good.
I'm so
pleased with my worktop. They even
fitted my shelf on top of the toilet
that I've probably spoken about in multiple
videos, so I'm very glad that
that awful, in fact, I haven't even looked
at it yet. I'm going to go and have a look in a minute.
I'm very glad that the awful
IKEA shelf
has gone. Jas has just
gone out to try out a local
barber for the first time, and I thought
I'd use this opportunity to do
a little bit of work, and also
have my turn sitting at the desk.
Do you know what I mean? We've bought this desk,
he's been sat at it all day, so he
cleared his stuff out at like 5.30,
and now it's my time to do a bit
of work, and I'm basically home alone.
Very exciting. The whole
of the back patio door is open.
I should probably go and shut that,
but anyway, whatever. Let me show you
my setup. It's so nice
and breezy from this window.
Oh, I love it. I've got a big bottle of
water, because I actually forgot to bring some water
from home. I don't always buy bottled water.
I've edited my video, which is
great. I had to film the ending
because I forgot about that. Got my
phone, charger, and a thermos
full of coffee that we bought this morning
to share. I'm now just
looking out the window at all
these cats, because I think
my neighbours either side have
a cat, and I just from the
corner of my eye saw a cat
jump over the fence of one of the people
that live across the road, who I've never
seen or met. I was saying
to Jasso for lunch, I'm very
glad that none of our immediate
neighbours, touch wood,
own a dog, because I'm just not a dog
person. Cats I can tolerate
as long as they just stop
pooing in my garden, like
the amount of times, I'm pretty sure it's cat poo,
I don't know if it's cat or fox poo,
I don't know, but I just wish
things would stop pooing
in my garden, but dogs
wow. Sorry, can I just go off
on a really quick tangent, I'm sorry
it's such a boring story. I feel like I've not spoken
to anyone for like, two years.
We saw a house
that we really liked before this one,
in fact it's about
four or five streets away, and
I don't know why we liked it, we didn't
know what we were doing, so glad we didn't buy it,
but it was a terraced house, and
one day, when we went to do our second
viewing, as we were leaving, the woman next
door came out with five
dogs, these dogs were like, bigger
than her, they were like six foot
humans, but on all fours,
and I was just like, Jas if
we move in here, I'm gonna have to like,
I can't just walk out of my house freely,
I have to make sure I time it
so that she's not there with her dogs,
and could you imagine them barking all night,
like, if this is what happens, like in unison,
five dogs, I'm just
very grateful that these people
all have cats.
Anyway, that was a, oh god,
people are watching me vlog, okay, I can't be weird
in front of new neighbours,
not yet anyway.
Okay, I'm gonna go
now, I'm just gonna go.
Oh, hay fever is kicking my ass today,
Jas is doing a really good
job of
painting,
I'm doing the skirting,
got Kate from Fitters in,
this is actually my second coat
here,
and I've done the, oh you're not gonna be able to see,
I've actually propped this door open,
I've done the first coat on this door frame,
I need to finish off the skirting in this room,
and we still haven't had lunch,
I think it's like half two or something.
I'll film you!
I'll film you first!
Any of them, yeah?
Oh, hold this, yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's it, just push it in.
Oh no, no, no, this one here, just carry it and push it in.
Hang on, hang on, hang on,
let's do it properly, isn't it?
Come and stand over here, or let me stand over here.
I'm not left handed!
Is it? Don't worry.
Oh, that might come aside a bit.
That's it, push it.
That was so much fun!
Now I see why you like doing this!
Have you given any more thought
to your YouTube channel?
Today's Monday, I actually forgot
to end my video yesterday,
because it's been such a hectic four days.
Honestly, like,
it's been such a blur, Jas and I have been here
at the house for about ten, twelve hours
pretty much,
for the past few days, and we're running on
virtually no sleep, and
just eating crap, because
we have to grab stuff on the go,
or rely on very kind
family members to just come and deliver us
some food or cook for us, which is really nice,
obviously. So, I don't even know what I've
showed you, I have no idea what this video
is about, but I need to end it,
because today is Monday, like I said,
and I'm going to start a new one. So yeah, let me
just quickly show you the kitchen, because
it's pretty much done. Hold on.
I mean, I say it's done, but
this is what
the kitchen currently looks like.
They need to come back and fix a few things,
they basically forgot
that I had an integrated bin,
and so they haven't installed it,
so I've had to order a replacement cabinet door,
because that one would pull out this way,
and yeah, I will
give you a proper tour once it's all done,
but we finally picked up all the cardboard
yesterday,
we've kept a couple of bits here,
we're going to go buy a broom now to sweep up,
because it is super dusty,
and once again, there is lots happening this week,
so yeah, keep an eye out
for the next video, and hopefully
this time next week,
I'll be free of builders,
and the house
will be clean. In fact, the house will most
definitely be cleaner. So,
thank you for watching, and I will see you next week
with a super exciting
video. Bye!
