Today we power up our water pump only to find the last fitting has a leak! And of couse it's too late in the day to get a new fitting. The next morning we work on it some more, get it figured out, and then do some additional cleanup work like edging on the roof, foam inserts, electrical wire covers, and more. Let's call this pump house COMPLETE!

Do you even know what day it is anymore?
174. Oh, you do know what day it is.
So like you saw we did go ahead and put on
protection on the edge of these panels so
People can stop worrying about us. So yeah, we found these on Amazon. It's like this little
Flexible thing. It's got like a clip in it and little metal pieces that hold it and it's split
So you can cut it wherever you need it to. Yeah, we'll see if it works. I'm pretty sure it's gonna yellow
Probably won't stay white. Yeah, but we'll just see. We're gonna keep an eye on it. It goes really well on the ridges
It just doesn't do great on
Flat thin lines. Yeah, the sides where it's just straight. It just doesn't hold as well. But when it's got that
Bend, yeah, it works great. Okay, we are on a very tight time frame
We have to get this pump hooked up. Thunderstorms are coming
So we're gonna see if we can get it done before the game. We have one more thing to do, too
Remember we finally got the foam pieces that go under the ridges there where all those little holes are
So maybe I can work on that and you can work on. Yeah, we need to throw those in for sure. Okay ready?
Now we're gonna run the power from the pump into the main system
But we are gonna go through a switch first so that we can mount it on the outside of this
So if we ever want to turn it off, we don't have to take both of these lids off. We can just flip the switch
I'm your
What happened
Base plate goes on weird. So I have to have it on the other side of the wires
Got a new switch didn't know how it worked
I
Don't even know something with the conduit over there I can't see
Oh
Okay, we've got everything hooked up but I haven't put the fuse in yet for the pump what we're gonna do first is
Open up the water line from the tank. Let it flow into our flexible tubing and that way we can look and see
if
There's any leaks before we pressurize it
And I you do the spigot test
Okay, I think the next step will be
pressurized
Up to this one this one and this one and then we'll open each one individually. Does that make sense?
All right moment of truth
Forgot one thing. We need another ball valve in the middle of our
Low point drain line because otherwise it just creates a loop
And it never stops
So I think we've turned off that the thing at the tank. We've turned off the one at the pump here
So we need to open up our low flow and let that water out and then we'll cut this and put a ball valve
Let's start with
This is gonna take a bit I guess there's still water in there
It's going down and it's filling all the way to those
So
Confirming my theory that it's always the last connection
Or the last screw or the last whatever in a build that goes wrong when we were leak testing yesterday
One of the connections we just could not get to quit leaking
So I think maybe the actual piece is just deformed and so headed back to the hardware store this morning
I'm gonna grab a replacement for that and a couple of other little things
Hopefully we can get this wrapped up back from the hardware store with the new pieces
We're gonna re-glue retape
Cross our fingers
I
Think I finally got it doesn't look like we have any leaks
It's all pressurized. So we're gonna screw the pump down and then do a little more cleanup work here get the wires
Sort of tidied up and there's some caulking that we still need to do
We need to close up all the holes where the faucets run through the wall
Clean up work. There's always clean up work, right? Empty bottles messy bed
Clothes are hanging off the shelf
memory scattered in my head
Been a mess since you left
watching screens closing shades
Drinking by myself
Haven't left here in days
Been a mess since you left I've been keeping all your boxes
In case you ever wanted to move back in again
But it's been a while
I think I need to clean my room the space you left inside me to
Get your clothes out the door
Get your love
Are we done with the dang pump house other than covering
The ball valve that comes from the tank. Yes
It's been a long couple weeks at pump house. I don't think it was a couple
Probably we'll see how many days it was right here
Also, yes, don't look closely at the caulking. I'm not good at caulking
And it will be covered up when we do our final coat of plaster. So I'm not worried about how it looks, right?
We'll still be doing final plaster on this part as well. Yeah, when we get when we finally figure out our final plaster
finally
But anyway, I think I think I'm good
It's pressurized. It works. The solar is good. There's no leaks
Yeah, although we're probably gonna need to come back and just double-check. Yeah in this couple hours, but it's looking good
It's looking real good. Okay. So what's next on on the homestead on the homestead man guys?
We have
So many things we've got to do around the homestead not related to the chicken garden
yeah, we have been putting like so much attention on the build and
another project that we're working on that everything has kind of
Gone to the wayside when we homestead we need some maintenance
We I so I think I think we're gonna institute a maintenance week window. We'll call it a window
Yeah, I don't know how long I'll take but it's gonna be a while
Yeah of just cleaning up this place and trying to get on to the next project
Yep, so no chicken garden for a little bit only
Random maintenance things. Yeah fun times. That'll be fun. Yeah, I'll be different. It'll be good. I like it
Well, it'd be fun to watch
We'll do our best. We'll see you next
I'm not ready, but we're already
