Trying CURL MIX + New Curly Hairstyle | BiancaReneeToday

Hey co-friends, I'm Bianca Renee, you're watching Bianca Renee Today. And today I'm getting back on to my hair style challenge. Your girl fell off because I had braids and then I had a baby, so I've just been in a bun every day. But I'm back, and I'm gonna try something that I saw on Instagram of a girl doing the style with straight hair, but I'm gonna try it on curly hair and see how that works. I'm also gonna be trying some new products that I haven't talked about on my channel yet. They're not new in life, but I haven't talked to you guys about them yet. And that's a brand called Curl Mix. I've been wanting to try Curl Mix since 2019, and here we are. So I have one of their kits, this is their Vanilla Berry Fragrance one, and it literally says step one, two, three, and four. So it's like curly hair dummy proof, so you just go and order and that's your whole wash day routine. So you can buy them individually or you can get a curl kit for your liking. So I washed my hair this morning using the Pure Aloe Vera Shampoo, clarifying to remove buildup, and then I conditioned my hair with their Pure Grapeseed Conditioner Hydrating with Ultra Slip. It was really good slip, they both smell really good. I don't know if I'd say ultra slip, but it was good. But now I'm going to style my hair with their two products. So I need to get my hair wet again because I put on my makeup, took a little long. Now some of you might recognize this brand from Shark Tank. Some of you might remember me talking about this brand in my story back in 2019 because I know there's sharks, but the sharks kind of came for them in what I felt was like a little bit of a disrespectful way. It just irked me as I literally said in my video. Now first I'm going to add the Pure Avocado Moisturizer. This is supposed to strengthen my hair. It has organic castor oil and has a vanilla berry fragrance. Let me smell it. Oh yeah. It smells like candy. I smell the vanilla and the berry. So as I first apply this leave-in conditioner to my hair, let me just go back to the archives of my Instagram stories and play you the clip from Shark Tank and my initial reaction. There's a million dry shampoos out there. I believe ours is the best and there's reasons for that. But like, what is it for you guys that makes yours different and unique? Our main competitor is actually DevaCurl. And how big are they? A hundred million. Easy. Yeah, easy. Yeah. Guys, I'm going to simplify it. I have no clue what you're talking about. I'm out. Okay, thank you. I'm not in the curly hair business. I'm in the business of making curly hair straight. But like Lori said, you have a lot of competition. I'm in the business of making curly hair straight. That just like irked me. I know like it's literally what she does. She's the owner or creator of Dry Bar. So you're supposed to be able to go in there and get your hair blow dried in like 20 minutes. It's really more for like straight-ish hair just to be blow dried to be straighter. Not really for black hair or like extremely textured curls. But yeah, that just bugged me. And I get that each shark has a specialty. So like some might be really focused in sports or QVC or makeup or whatever it may be. But they're all in the business of making money. That's why they're there. They invest in these random things. No one's specialized in sponges, but the Scrub Daddy is making millions. So I mean, I haven't tried CurlMix yet. I'm kind of intrigued now. Yes, there are a lot of curly hair brands on the market. But if you don't try to succeed in what you wanna do because of competition, you've already lost. And then I show you the Scrub Daddy that I bought because of Shark Tank and no one specialized in sponges and I still invested. So yeah, I forgot about that clip until I grabbed these products again. I was like, oh wait, this was the brand from Shark Tank. That's just not cool. It's just not cool. So I've obviously wanted to try these products for a long time. We still haven't really worked together. I still would like to, but they did send me these products to try. So thought I'd use them today because I really just do genuinely like them. So unfortunately I don't have like a promo code or anything for you because this video is not sponsored, but definitely give this a try. Now I'm going to apply the Pure Avocado. Nope, that's what I just put in my hair. Now I'm gonna apply the Pure Flaxseed Gel. This one made me most excited because I love flaxseed gels. I love the consistencies and how it always turns out. This is supposed to strengthen my hair as well with organic castor oil, vanilla berry fragrance. Now if you go on the website, all of their lines have a shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in and a flaxseed gel, but they all do different things. So the one that I got is organic castor oil for strengthening hair. Then they have one organic hemp seed oil for hair growth with watermelon fragrance. Then they have an organic jojoba oil moisturizing with lavender fragrance. They have a lemon one for softening hair and an organic sweet almond oil for sensitive skin that's fragrance free. So I like that they have different kits for different needs and I've tried this a couple of times and I've loved my results. Ooh, it's liquidy. So here's the consistency. It's pretty runny, but it has great slip. It has that flaxseed gel slip that I just love and I've been loving gels that have slip lately. Okay, so let me get this in my hair so we can start the style. So the style that I'm gonna do looks like this. So I'm gonna need to put my hair into a middle part like so, not bad for the first try. Now I'm going to do two braids and then pull them back into two little ponytails. So let me grab a section for my braid. Let's make a square. That looks good. And then let me make another square right here. Those look even? Of course not, because I am the worst parter of all time. Okay, that's pretty good. So let's put this back for now. Just clip it. Okay, so now I'm gonna braid this piece, but I'm going to be pulling these back, so I'm gonna try to braid it backwards instead of forward, which I'm not very good at. We are going to try. That's part of the hairstyle challenge is doing things that I can't really do. We gonna learn together. Oh man, this is, I just gotta get it started. All right, we're in the groove. Am I? Is this braiding? Oh, okay. Now that I got it started, maybe I can do it this way. Okay, that's better. There we go. Just so you guys know, Curlmix is a black-owned brand. Still a pretty small business, only available online right now. I'll link their website in the description box. But one bottle is like $24. Some of them, like the gels, are $30. So if you want to get the kit, you actually can get four products for $89, which is definitely cheaper than paying $30 each. So just do the math, depending on which ones you like. If I had to choose only one, I'd definitely get the gel. I'd probably do gel, then the moisturizer, then the conditioner, then the shampoo, in that order. Okay, I already braided too much because I was talking. Braid number one. I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. Attempting to braid back. Okay, we only really need to braid like that much. Not even, this is way too much. Let me take this out. Okay, now for my next trick, I'm going to make two little ponytails. Bringing this up and leaving some out. Okay, let me put this into one little ponytail. I have my favorite scrunchies. These are the Forever Ouchless ones by Goody. These are for fine hair, so they're a little bit smaller than their original ones. But when it comes to like needing a tight style, these are my go-tos. Putting this in a ponytail right here. You stay down. There's one side. Not for the tingling, but it's what's on my desk right now. Rewind it just a little bit. Same thing on the other side. Grab my scrunchie. Making my second ponytail. When I do ponytails and braids is when I really realize how fine my hair is. These scrunchies are actually better for me. Look how little this ponytail is. Teeny tiny. So low-key, we could end it right here because this little braid to curl would dry really cute. But instead, we're going to cross them. I don't like straight back. So I think on Instagram, she actually pulls the hair through the braid using some type of magic. Oh, okay. Yeah, what? What is this sorcery? Okay, so she goes like this. Maybe she makes a hole in the braid and then pulls the ponytail through. Here we go. And then she tightens it? How did she just? What was that tightening motion? I just realized what she did. You have to add another scrunchie to the end of the braid. So she went back, made a loop within the braid, pulled the ponytail through the braid. Oh, then you make it tight. Grab a little scrunchie, put it on the end. Oh, about to pop my nail off. Then you lock it in place. Okay, that looks better. And I'll probably unbraid the rest of this. So this is curly. Go back to the ponytail and tighten it. There we go. This side is still staying without the scrunchie. I almost don't want to disturb it, but I probably should, because it'll probably fall off. Got my braid. Yeah, that was loose. Got my braid right here. There we go. Then you tighten. Ha ha! That looks better. Now we diffuse. Ta-da! Wow, I love these products. My hair always looks great when I use them. I feel like my curls are, like, smaller, so it's giving me more volume. This is day one, people. Day one in a ponytail, like. Beautiful results. Now I'm gonna slick down this so it's a little bit more prominent, give me some baby hair so it's a little cleaner. This is by Idolox. This is her edge control, maximum hold for all hair types. This is the same brand who makes my jumbo shower cap that I use, especially when I have braids. So this is her personal brand. I don't know, I might have tried this once. Let's see how it does. Probably should have slicked this back before I put it in a ponytail. Here we are. Ooh! Very nice. There we go. Nice and sleek. So that is all for today's hairstyle challenge. I think I'm starting to learn that you do see styles better if you have highlights, like right now it's like, you know, black on black, but I feel if I had my highlights you'd probably be able to see things better. And if I knew how to braid in my scalp, like if you guys could do that, do it to your scalp and then connect it to the ponytail. Next level.
