Please tell me your views on these fish fingers? Comparison review. ASDA. Food review.
Well how we doing out there I hope you're all absolutely spot on and thanks for watching the
video. Now this is a comparison revisited because 11 months ago last year when I just started the
channel I did a fish finger comparison and I did haddock. I did four different supermarkets
but I did a big bigger box there were 15. 15 and 10 but they weren't like this. These are the
If you want to go and have a look at that it'll be my comparison playlist.
Just have a click in there and have a look at the prices. I did Asda's ones or sorry Asda
but I did the Asda own brand and I didn't do their very cheap version. So I'm just gonna see
what the difference is because there's a big difference in price. So come and have a look
what I got. I got the Asda 10 fish fingers just essentials by Asda. 250 gram box. I thought I'd
try it with the Birdseye Omega 3 10 fish fingers. So they're both 10 but they're both different in
price. They're both in breadcrumb as well. The Asda just essentials were 69 pence. 69 pence!
The Birdseye were £2.50. Now I know Birdseye are a massive company and brand aren't they?
They're the big boys. They really are. Old Captain Birdseye. Against the old just essentials at 69
pence. We've got to take a look haven't we? Really I've got to investigate a little bit further.
So let's have a look at the packages. We'll go in with the weight. They're different in weights look.
The just essentials are 250 gram plays 280 gram by the Birdseye. A little traffic light system on
there. Look if you want to have a look at that. It's going to be completely different isn't it?
So that is for well four fish fingers and three fish fingers. But we'll get in the nutritional
information in a minute. I've got a serving suggestion. Chips and peas. Sweet corn and peas.
They're showing off the old the fish aren't they? It says here freshness locked in from the
seater plate responsibly sourced. Does it say anything on here like that? It's just got a
little GB sticker on there. Look it's packed in the UK with Alaska Pollock caught in the Pacific Ocean.
Minced Alaska Pollock coated in breadcrumbs. There's the ingredients. Alaska Pollock it's got.
They're both Alaska Pollock. Yeah they are. Alaska Pollock fish 58% in the Birdseye.
Minced Alaska Pollock 58% in the Asda Just Essentials. The allergens are wheat and fish.
Rape seed oil in this one. All different ones. Rape seed oil in the cheaper one as well.
Well I'm amazed at that. I really thought they'd be. I thought the Birdseye. I thought it'd be
absolutely well a different a different fish to that than that. I thought it might be cod or haddock
but I would imagine if it was cod or haddock it would say cod or haddock wouldn't it? I do notice
these are sustainably seafood sourced. Minced Alaskan Pollock 58% fish 58%. Now I'm just sure
you've done it. Let's get them open. Going back on my last comparison I did. I got a beard 11 months
ago. 11 months ago. Let's get them open. We'll have a look. I'll put it on there. I'll get a plate
out in a minute. I know you shouldn't put your food on the boxes but I will be cooking them.
You can tell the differences straight away. This one's the cheaper ones it's it's a bit more darker
in colour. It's more redder and you're getting more you're going to get more in them as well
because it's 30 grams more but that is them. I'm going to get them out. I'm going to do two of each.
I'm going to have four fish fingers. Let me just show you now. You can tell that straight away I won't
get them mixed up. You can tell in the colours straight away the difference. This one's got a
little hole in here look. See if it's got any on that side. No. Yeah. These are the Birdseye
and these are the Just Essentials. On the Birdseye there's a little you can scan that
with your mobile phone it'll tell you more information. Find out where our fish comes
from and discover the captain's dedication to responsible fishing. So that's always a good
thing that isn't it. It really is. Doing them in the air fryer on the bake setting for 10 minutes
at 200 degrees. So if you like this kind of video please give it a thumbs up. Maybe consider
subscribing to the channel as well if you if you do that does help the channel and let me know your
thoughts on the old fish fingers. I know growing up as a kid we used to have fish fingers. Fish
finger and chips. Fish finger chips and peas. Fish fingers. Fish fingers chips and beans.
Fish finger sandwiches. Just love fish fingers. Never had fish fingers on toast though. No didn't
have that. Anyway I'll bring you back in another about eight minutes. Have a look inside.
There this so this one this one is a Just Essentials and that's the Birdseye. See what you
think. Is it focusing in? It is yeah. It's taste test time now. Put that there. I don't want to get them mixed up.
It's a bit browner the meat in the cheaper one. Cooked them the same time as well. Pretty much
the same time for the cooking. It's all right yeah. It's crunchy coating. It's lovely. Well seasoned.
It's tasty. They're all right. A little bit dry but the old air fryer has a habit of drying things out.
I'm going to try the Birdseye. I'm going to get a drink of water so I'm not cross-contaminating.
Although I did use the same knife to cut them didn't I. It's only a bit of fun. Come on we're only
having a bit of fun. There's the Birdseye. Yeah it's just pretty much the same. Crunchy. They're
well seasoned. You're getting more in your mouth with the Birdseye because they're bigger. But wow I mean
that's it there look the Just Essentials. I'm going to get in for another go.
Nothing wrong with them at all. Birdseye. I have noticed with the Birdseye they're not as dry.
Probably because there's more in them. They're a bit sort of fluffier as well the meat. But really
that is the only difference I can tell. I would imagine if the other you know the Just Essentials
had been the same sort of weight it would have been equally the same. Yeah I mean it just goes
to show doesn't it. Yeah I can't tell the difference only the price again really. That's just the only
significant difference is the price and there's a big big difference. 69 pence versus £2.50.
Wow I don't need to say any more do I let's be honest. See what you think. See what you think.
I'll just wrap up now and I'll just show you. This is the Just Essentials look and that is the
Birdseye. It does look a bit better I must admit. But yeah I can't yeah. Anyway let you decide it's
up to you. At the end of the day you're the ones forking the money out and buying them.
It depends what budget you've got and if you like to you know if you like name brands you're
going to like the Birdseye aren't you. You're not going to stray off the garden path. Yeah that's
just life. You do what you want. You eat what you want and do what you want. I'm just showing you.
So thanks very much for watching. Do appreciate it. Thanks for the channel membership as well
when you if you've joined that. That is brilliant. It all goes to stuff like this.
So take care. All the best and I'll catch you on the next one.
