Well, it's the day of release, my favourite part of all our work.
But quite a sad story really, this little grey lag came into us as a baby.
We normally get several, which is great.
But he's been all alone for his entire stay.
We've rung all the other centres to see if anyone's got a grey lag.
No one has.
But we're going to release him today where I know there's grey lags
and this year he's young as well.
So I'm hoping that he's going to fit in there really well with them.
But he's had quite a lonely life so far, which is why he's got a mirror down there.
Because we put a mirror so they can see what they are and be alright.
But he's very cute.
He's going back to the wild today.
Oh, no, no, that's a lot of squeaking for little...
No, no, no.
Nobody's trying to kill you.
Go on.
Go in there.
You are making a fuss, my boy.
Come on, in you go.
In you go.
Right, little goose.
We can see other geese, which is exciting news for you.
We'll give you the choice of going either on the water or on the land.
And then you can make yourself at home in this beautiful new home.
Come on, out you go.
Go on.
Oh, look.
You still look a bit fluffy, but look, it's a new home.
It looks lovely.
Doesn't it?
Does that look nice?
Look, you've got friends.
You've got to jump.
You've got to be brave.
Just a little jump and you'll be on the water.
Yeah.
Do you want a stepladder?
No?
Oh, look at that.
Good fella.
Look at that.
Does that look exciting?
Don't bully him, swan, or I shall get cross.
All right, sweetheart.
All right.
Hey.
Stop bullying, you little devil.
Hey, come here.
Now, look.
Come here.
Behave yourself.
Don't do that.
Don't.
Well, that was a little bit of controversy there.
The black swan, this is obviously its territory.
Introduce anything new, they've got to find their own pecking order
and there's going to be a little bit of skirmish.
But it all seems to have quietened down quite well.
The goslings swam off over there.
It's a pity the other two grey lags didn't go across and see him,
but they'll find their way and it's a big lake.
There's plenty of space for all of them.
I'm sure he'll be fine.
