Hey everyone! In this video you are going to learn a self-working mind reading card trick that will allow you to read FIVE minds at once! This effect is so easy to perform and will leave all spectators amazed. It is the perfect trick to to a crowd of people because you can't screw it up and it amazes everyone.
Let me know what you think of this one in the comments below.
I'm going to show you how to read five minds at once.
This is one of the best card tricks to do if you've got a crowd of spectators
and you want to show them a trick that you can't screw up yet will blow all of their minds.
If you're new here then my name's Oscar Owen and I teach amazing easy magic tricks
that will make you the most interesting person in the room.

The magician has a deck of cards and shows that they're all different and mixed.
He then gives the cards a thorough mix to randomise them.
He then turns to the five spectators and says he needs one of them
to deal out five piles of five cards like this.
So he hands the cards to someone and they start to deal out five piles of five cards.
It doesn't matter where these cards are they can come from the top,
the middle or the bottom of the deck just so long as there are five cards in each pile.
So the volunteer does this and then the rest of the deck is put aside.
Before we look at the cards this pile goes to spectator one,
this to spectator two, this pile to spectator three,
this pile to spectator four and this pile to spectator five.
Each audience member picks up their packet and before looking at them they mix up all the cards.
Again this reaffirms that all the cards are different,
mixed and it just makes everything even more impossible.
If you thought there were some orders to these cards there's not.
So each spectator mixes up their cards and it really doesn't matter what order the cards are in.
Then each of them turns over their pile and remembers just one card.
This is very important, we're not writing down their cards,
they're not whispering their cards to each other,
they're literally just going to look at their card and remember it in their head.
So the first spectator turns over their pile and they remember the Queen of Spades.
Now having just said that I am going to write these cards down
just because I don't have a live audience
and I won't be able to remember all five cards off the top of my head
but in a performance you wouldn't write these down.
The second person looks at their cards and remembers the Nine of Spades in this example.
The third spectator remembers the Three of Hearts.
The fourth audience member turns over their cards and remembers the Ace of Hearts.
And the final spectator, let's just say they remember the Jack of Clubs.
The spectators could have genuinely looked at and remembered any cards
and now the packets are picked up in any order that the spectators like.
They can even be mixed up even more like this.
So everything here as you can see is totally random.
Before the trick began we shuffled the cards,
they were then split into five piles by the spectator so they chose the cards.
The cards were then shuffled even more
then the spectators randomly just thought of any one of the cards this wasn't written down
and then they've just put these packets back together in a giant pile.
Surely you must agree that it'd be impossible for the magician
to guess what cards the spectators have thought of.
Well watch this.
The cards are dealt out one at a time cleanly into five piles.
The magician then turns to the first spectator and says what pile is your card in?
They chose the Queen of Spades so they point to the third pile.
The magician thinks, pauses, looks at the spectator and then says you chose the Queen of Spades.
The magician then turns to the second audience member and asks what pile their card is in.
They point to the fourth pile and so the magician waves his hand over it
and points to the Nine of Spades.
The spectator freaks out.
The third spectator then says that their card is in the first pile
so the magician looks at him, reads his body language and then points to the Three of Hearts.
The fourth spectator then points to the second pile.
The magician instantly knows this time and says that your card must be the Ace of Hearts.
The final spectator then points to the fifth pile.
The magician thinks carefully and then places his finger on the Jack of Clubs.
All five spectators are fooled and everything can be inspected.
Did this card trick fool you?

So this is an amazing magic trick with a secret that you're going to absolutely love,
it's a really compelling illusion that creates the
impossible idea that you can read five minds at once.
So the way in which it works is you need a very simple setup,
you need to take the two, four, six, eight and ten of hearts
and place them on the top of the deck.
From here all that happens is you have five spectators
and you begin by showing the decks a normal deck of cards,
you can display most of them just don't display the stack at the top
and then I like to also do a riffle shuffle
where I maintain the stack on the very top of the deck.
So you riffle shuffle all the bottom cards together
and then when you get near the top you just put all of these cards down
then all of these cards down,
shuffle them together and you can see the stack is still on the top of the deck.
So from here what you need to do is give each spectator a card
and you're just demonstrating this,
you say look we need five piles of five cards
so just be like this, that'd be one, pile two, pile three, pile four, pile five
but I want you to do this so reach in,
take a card out and put it on each of the piles
so they'll take the deck and they'll put a card here, here, here, here, here,
it really doesn't matter,
it doesn't matter if the cards come from the middle or the bottom
so long as there's five cards on each pile
and that's four so we need one more
and what I want you to really emphasize when doing this part of the performance
is that they're choosing what cards to use.
Now secretly you have put your key cards on the bottom of each of these piles
but all the other cards the spectators have genuinely selected themselves
it doesn't matter as I said where they come from in the deck
so they're really going to be convinced
that they've just got a bunch of random cards in front of them
and also you shuffle the cards at the beginning
which just sells that illusion even more
and then what you can do is you can get them to shuffle up each pile even more
so spectator one, spectator two, spectator three, spectator four and spectator five
they each take a packet and they shuffle up the cards as much as they like
so the cards are all shuffled up
but you know that the spectator one has the two of hearts in their deck
spectator two is the four of hearts
spectator three is the six of hearts
spectator four is the eight of hearts
and spectator five has the ten of hearts in their deck
it's very easy to remember because it's just two, four, six, eight
then just let them turn over their cards and remember one card each
they don't write it down and they can genuinely think of any card
I'm just going to write down each card so I can actually remember it
because I won't be able to remember all five
but let's just say the first spectator chose the ten of clubs
let's say the second spectator chose the five of spades
let's say the third spectator chose the king of spades
the fourth spectator chose the five of clubs
and the fifth spectator chose the ten of hearts
so I'm just going to write these out so I can remember it
but you wouldn't know that and these cards can keep being shuffled
they're just remembering a card
but you don't know where that card is nor do you know what that card is
but there's an ingenious way in just a second
you're going to be able to determine what card they selected
just from a few simple moves
so they're thinking of a card and then you can just literally pick up the piles
it doesn't matter what order they're in
and stack them up like this
and at this point I like to really emphasize the fact that they chose what cards to use
the cards were shuffled before the trick even began
and then they shuffled up the cards in their hand even more
and then instead of writing something down or whispering to someone
they just thought of a card from their shuffled packet
and you ask them if that could be any more fair
and of course they're going to say no
now what you do is you go wonderful
so we're going to deal out five piles
and just very simply literally just deal out five piles one at a time like this
so you can see all five cards in each pile
so this is where the genius of this magic trick comes in
spectator one had the key card which was the two of hearts
if you remember it went 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
and that correlated with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 spectators
so when you look at the first spectator you just need to think two of hearts
all you do is you ask them what pile is their card in
so they remembered the 10 of clubs which is over here
and remember that their key card was the two of hearts
so you just look for the two of hearts which is here
and wherever the two of hearts is
the corresponding card in that position in the pile they pointed to will be their card
so they say my card is in this pile here
you go cool
you remember that their card is the two of hearts that their key card
and it's the very top of the deck
so you then look at the top of the deck
and it's the you know that their card will be the 10 of hearts
let me explain with the second spectator
so the second spectator chose the five of spades which is here
now remember the second spectator their key card was the four of hearts
because it went to four
so look for the four of hearts
and you see it's second from the bottom
so you know that in the pile that they pointed to
the card that's second from the bottom will be their card
which is the five of spades
the third spectator they chose the king of spades
you say what pile did you point to
is your card in
they say their card is in this pile here
their key card was the six of hearts
so you look for the six of hearts
and you go ah it's second from the top
so you know that their card is the king of spades
because that's second from the top
you then go to the fourth spectator
and you go what pile is your card in
they chose the five of clubs
which is this one here
so they say it's in this pile here
they've got the eight of hearts as their key card
which is bang in the middle
so you know the card bang in the middle is their card
and finally the last spectator chose the ten of hearts
which is here
now because they're the final spectator
you know that their key card is the ten of hearts
so this is even easier
because they point they said their card is in this pile here
and they actually chose the key card
so it is obviously just the key card is their selection
so that's how this magic trick works
it's so simple yet so powerful
and it creates the very compelling illusion
that you can read five minds at once
now if you want to take this magic trick to the next level
then you need to do one very important thing
