what's up everyone? so in today's video we're gonna be talking about who we are, how we met
and why we decided to travel full-time. as our channel continues to grow we keep getting new
subscribers and they never really know anything about us even though we've mentioned it in some
other Q&A videos, so we decided to make this video so it's an easy place for people to find
yeah so i'll start talking about myself i'm carol carolina and i am 26 years old i was born and
raised in rio de janeiro brazil and yeah that's it i think. yeah that's where she's from. i'm
originally from manchester in england but i'm half brazilian so my mother's from brazil
and my dad's from england but i grew up in england and i'm 31 years old so now we need to explain
how we met. so as i mentioned i'm half brazilian so when i was 19 and i finished my a levels there
my studies i decided to take a gap year in brazil what was supposed to be a gap year and then i'll
keep it short but i went to brazil for this gap year and ended up staying there and living there
got a job at a place called petrol link in like oil and gas but more it based work and um i think
that's where we met that's where we met so she wasn't there straight away i think you entered
about three years later than me yeah i think so and then uh we met the first day we met
it was in my interview he was with the managers interviewing me because i was going to work
at the same department. yeah usually i was never brought into any interviews but for some reason
on this day they asked me to participate just pretty much to listen in i think but that was
the first time we set eyes on each other and uh you were only 18 at the time. yeah it was my first job
ever. yeah i must have been about 24 at the time what year was that? uh 2013. 2013 so yeah you can
we've known each other a long time yeah and i just remember you had like really good english
because a lot of brazilians don't speak english as you can see she she can and you had some it
background. yeah i had an it background and i was also going to international relations university
at that time and yeah we also used to live in the same part of rio de janeiro and we
get the bus back to get the same bus back home and then we started to talk and we noticed that
we had uh like same taste on music. yeah same interests and stuff. yeah i think we were
attracted to each other pretty quickly. yeah yeah and i think that's how it all started
but uh yeah the story is not like a perfect story because uh you moved to houston. yeah
probably after she started working we kind of had a thing not not serious but then i got
transferred to houston texas with the same job probably about two months after we first met.
yeah i think so. and then uh we actually both dated different people so i dated someone in
in houston you dated someone during your time in brazil for a year and we kind of both broke
up from those people around the same time. you broke up a few months after me and then i think
during that the time that we were dating we didn't speak that much probably because there was like an
attraction between us thought it was best to not speak to each other but then once we broke up we
started talking again. yeah i think i started talking with you. yeah i think during my time
in houston i was always thinking that she was the the one that got away kind of thing but yeah she
didn't get away in the end. yeah and then we started talking again and then i went to brazil
just on a holiday and then we pretty much hung out every single day there for a whole month and then
that's when we decided to get back together and try to make things work. and we had like a long
distance relationship for almost two years. yeah i think so. yeah but the funny thing is our
relationship is basically what created our travel bug because we lived in different countries like
when carol would come over to houston we'd do some trips so i think our first one was to california
yeah and then every time we'd visit each other we'd go on little like trips and yeah holidays
and stuff and at that point in my life i hadn't actually been going on that many vacations so
that really got the travel bug back and yeah we just loved traveling together and our relationship
was basically founded on travel so it's just funny that now we're traveling full time but
yeah maybe if we never got back together we wouldn't be doing this travel thing as well
we wouldn't have thought of it. probably not. and yeah after some time we decided to get married
because of course that would make things easier for us to live together. in the u.s. in the u.s.
and then we got married in the u.s. in 2017. yeah so i had been living in houston overall for three
years and then she moved there and we spent, well i spent my last year living with you in houston
but before that we had already had the plan to start traveling full time together. i think even
before we got married we already had this plan. yeah we already had this plan. so i remember we
was on one of our little road trips and we was at a place called joshua tree, a really nice
national park there and i always remember i just thought about people that do full-time travel
because obviously i was loving the freedom of our little getaways but then i thought oh some people
have this feeling full-time, some people do this full-time. and at that time i didn't know about
youtubers doing this. i probably followed a few photographers on instagram so i knew obviously
they were living this lifestyle with photography but i didn't know about youtube or anything.
but then that already started making us think about it. i remember saying to carol like
oh we both don't really enjoy our work, why don't we just save up, travel for a while and then during
that time work out what we want to do with our lives. yeah because for me i was, like i said
before, i was working when i was 18. i was working and i was also doing university so it was very
tiring for me and i was basically doing what people usually do in different periods. so i
finished my university and i had already a very long experience for my age.
work experience? yeah work experience for my age. yeah because you started working at 18.
yeah. which is pretty young for a lot of people. she wasn't even doing a part-time job, she was doing a
full-time job like five days a week and also studying, which is crazy. i don't know how you
actually did that. yeah so that made me think like oh i've already had a job, a good job and
university, so now i think i need to do more stuff that i enjoy. and i don't know, i think
that was my thought. and for me i was 30 and i'd been working at this company for 10 years
and i'd say it was something that i wasn't ever in love with. but in the beginning, the first five
six years, i still kind of enjoyed it, the challenge and yeah i guess going up the hierarchy
of the company. i got into kind of like coordinator position at the end i guess. but yeah the last
three years i just wasn't into it anymore and it dragged on a lot. i was pretty unhappy going to
work all the time, had zero interest in what i was doing anymore but i just didn't know what else to
do in life. i didn't know what i wanted to do as a full-time job. obviously you're spending a lot of
your life at work so yeah. so once you don't like it it's kind of hard to just keep going to
work all the time, you just feel like you're wasting your life away. but i didn't know what
to do and then i knew i liked to travel but i didn't really think of that as a job at the time.
we just decided to save up to travel and then hope that during the years away we'd kind of
have a fresh mind and understand what we both want to do. and then we spent about two years saving
money for the the trip that we're currently on. we're going to do a separate video talking about
how we afford to travel, how we save money and how we currently make money, that will be a separate
video. many people ask us about that. yeah that's why we're doing these videos now, to finally answer
the questions about our travels. yeah so that's it, just to clear a few things up. right now we're
heading almost towards two years of full-time travel. we started in february 2019. yeah so
february 2021 will be the two years and we are gonna continue, one because of covid and
two because we are able to make some income now. we're also gonna talk about that in a different
video. yeah we'll explain that further in the next video. so hopefully you found this useful
and thanks for watching. thank you guys, bye!
