Today I'm going to show you the top five crossover moves that you can break ankles with.
All right, the first one is what I call the Jutt Cross, and it was pretty much popularized
by Allen Iverson, but there's a lot of variations guys like Kyrie Irving, Jamal Crawford, Kevin
Durant use that are slightly different from his, but all have the same concept.
Basically, you're going to have the ball in one hand, you're going to sell a fake in one
direction using the same side foot of the hand that has the basketball, so you're going
to jab with that foot out, you're going to crossover, and then you're going to explode
in the other direction.
You can variate this by adding a hang dribble before it, or sliding in the direction that
you're about to fake before you go into it, that's something Kyrie does, but there's a
lot of ways, like I said, you can mix that up.
The next one's a stiff leg, this is actually more of a street ball move.
To do it more game situational, you might want to do it between the legs, your coach
might be more okay with it, and you'll have better protection over the basketball, but
this one right here is what the street ball variation looks like.
Now you can go into it right into a step back jump shot as you're seeing there, you can
change the angle ever so slightly and go into a crossover straight to the rim, or you can
go into that step back, hesitate, and then drive to the basket.
So whichever hand has the ball, you're going to make sure you step with the opposite foot
across your body, so if your left hand has the ball, you're going to take your right
foot and step at an angle to the left, and then from there you're going to crossover
and step back with the foot that just stepped forward.
The key is making sure you take that step quick, once you get more comfortable with
it, try extending that step.
I've used this move a lot to send defenders flying, I've made guys fall to the ground
with it, it's actually a pretty easy move to learn once you get the feel for it, it's
just a matter of making sure you take that step really quickly.
Then the next one's going to be the Sham God, very famous, popular move, really deceptive,
all you're going to do is push the ball out to one side to make your defender either think
that you lost the ball and try to get them to go for it, or to make them think you're
going to drive in that direction, then you're going to come across the ball with the opposite
hand and pull the ball back in a V motion and explode to the basket.
Key tip I can give you is whichever hand pushes the ball at first, step out with that same
side foot.
That'll help you sell that fake and get after the basketball and change directions more
quickly.
And then the next one's what I call the Slam Cross, I've actually used this to make a guy
fall twice in the same game, and it's going to be really effective for you too if you
do it the right way.
Now the key is that you want to get really close to your defender, so they actually try
to either, one, steal the basketball, or two, go for a hesitation shot fake.
You can variate the way you do this, you can do it with a hesitation shot fake, or you
can do it without.
But the key once again is to get really close to your defender, and then from there, you
want to drop down with both feet into a between the legs dribble, and make sure you slam
it between your legs hard.
A lot of times I'll actually hope that my defender hits the basketball, or tries to
hit the basketball, because I know I'm going to slam it through so hard, there's no chance
that they're going to be able to steal it from me.
If you apply that tactic, it's going to work really well for you too.
And a lot of times when they start trying to get in your space and reaching for that
ball, that's when they're going to fall down, because they're going to get off balance.
And then the last one's the ever so popular U-Tap Two-Step, popularized by Tim Hardaway
Sr.
Basically all you're going to do is go between the legs, sell a fake hard in that direction,
and then go into a regular crossover from there.
The key is making sure you sell that fake with your hips and your chest, making sure
you lean over that knee a little bit as you go between the legs, and then explode out
of that crossover.
Being quick with your feet is key on this.
