ABANDONED Dart Rescued and First Wash After 41 Years!

Where'd it go? He tied a knot in it Let's get back Camaro We can see the whole car now at least Or the first time you ever did we'll see that thing a long time Buried up to over the crossmember up to the steering box Can't get to the lower control arms. Can't wrap the chain around the crossmember Something's been living it I can see things are buried out under it, but it's a six-cylinder four shift Manual car of some sorts. I'd assume three-speed being this year 74 with big push bar bumpers So it's pretty cool hit real hard on the passenger side t-boned And it buckled the door up here so you can't even open it. So I've tried you can't even pull on it to get it open so But it's all there At least besides the engine transmission and such but I got good shifter pedals good linkage Paid 150 bucks for it for some good parts. So I think it's well worth that You put yeah, you got it you're pulling on it don't just say if it'll pull it Come back a little more Nice and the rods And the hook up. I Guess that's the easy part, right? Really see how crooked the thing is Where I got hit? What you bet there's a trunk floor Okay Look at the massive crater that sucker left Something have been living in there for a long time There's a shifter hubcap part of a driveshaft I'm gonna get some center blocks Put under the rockers and try to back the trailer up to it And then maybe push it on with the tractor Hopefully that's the plan at least You got one on that side Yeah Let me get my gloves. Yeah We're up on the crater right now, but you're not hurting anything. I don't see it. I don't see a yellow hood that I can tell So I had originally only intended to pressure wash the bottom half of the car so I can get parts off of it later on suspension That kind of changed. I figured hey while we're here. Let's just go ahead and clean the rest of the car It was a perfect candidate to wash off that 41 year old grime, so let's do it I'm gonna spray it down with a little cleaner started to do this fender. I was like man. Why is it not coming off? Maybe I'll spray it with a little something Should help Forgot to do this typically do Tell them a lot of practice Let all this break up that nasty gunk that's been sitting on there for decades maybe this will break it all up and Clean it up a little better Keep blowing the paint off, but if I can Get it to loosen up first. Maybe I'll save some of it, which I guess it doesn't really matter, but we're perfectionists, right? I Was a lot we're done. I'm going to wait till tomorrow Unload the car after we let it dry off, and then we'll take a better look at it. Then look at this GoPro Isn't it sad? All right, hold on for just a sec wait till tomorrow So how I figured out this thing was sitting for 41 years is the fact that the license plate was last tagged 1979 and being in its 2020 right now 41 years isn't that ridiculous this car was wrecked when it was only five years old And it's been off the road for that long That's just insane to me this poor things been sitting for way way longer than it actually was a car it was parted out after it was wrecked it was an insurance situation and This is the guy that I got it from his buddy actually owned the car It was t-boned they pulled the engine and transmission out and left it sitting there In the exact same spot for that long so the guy who owned it the guy who had the property he had been there for About 42 to 43 years he said so this car has been there as long as he has So I don't know if he was sad to see it go happy to see it go or just indifferent But it has been there for a very long time a lot of confusion on Instagram when I posted about it people thought that I was gonna actually fix this car and Unfortunately that is not the case this thing I only bought four parts And I pressure washed it just for you guys just for the video because there's a lot of people out there who like that kind of stuff and I know that this This old side is terrible Understand, but it still has a lot of good parts. It was well worth what I paid 150 bucks is what I paid It was well worth it, so you can see that I mean we've got an immaculate grill We've got nice bumpers that header panel is hard to find all the trim on it And we still have front suspension components. We can rob stuff off of we got a cross member And I mean there's still door hinges on it even though they might be toast on this side, but there's still a door hinge We've got components for the rear axle rear suspension and even just having bolts would be great The rear bumper is still very straight nice trim pieces out back We've got That shifter which no idea how good it is But we've got it, and we've just got a lot of really good stuff still on the car regardless You know we can still rob these door handles the door on this side right here is very straight and Rust-free at that so it's it's still a very nice piece right there And the best part about it that really made me want to buy it is the fact that it does have Three pedals it's got that clutch pedal for a manual transmission and Define those pedals are pretty hard to find original and just to have that is nice That's a really big step for a manual transmission swap and not only that we have a floor shift steering column That's also a pretty hard fine piece So you know you can use that in automatic or manual depending on what your application is but to have that It's pretty hard to find and you know surprisingly the dash is still mostly there It's rusty, but it's all got a lot of really good stuff a lot of smaller components Just a lot of things that you can find in this car that you never know you'll need until you need it And that's why I really wanted it so the biggest thing those pedals But there's also a lot of good stuff on here as well So we'll keep it hang on to it grab some parts off of it as we need I've got two more of these dark sports And I plan to fix both of them, so this car will definitely be something that we can use in the future for parts And that's what I want Though this thing does have a lot of good parts one thing. I don't plan to use is this original hubcap That's a 14 inch hubcap. It looks like it's stainless, and it is dirty, but I'm sure it could be cleaned up I don't plan to use it.
